Another set of members are simply too fearful to post for various reasons.

I just want to go on record as saying I tried to engage the troll gently and politely yesterday only because he seemed mentally ill and I am somewhat sympathetic to mental illness as I have known a few people suffering from it. But rather than be mollified and pull back a little the troll continued and I did finally reach my breaking point and stopped replying. He had a lot of members going and ate up a lot of thread space. But if you are seeking to help yourself at all by being here (regardless of wether you are seeking to help or harm me), consider that nothing you learn will ever hurt you for knowing it. More knowledge has never been the cause of harm to anyone who acquired it. So any knowledge you pick up from my posts as a result of my experience is risk free, cost free learning for you. You can learn from both my failures and my successes without ever having to make the efforts and pay the prices that I had to in order to get the lived experience to learn those things.

This is why libraries exist, any why intelligent people throughout history have always made use of them. But libraries have also been targets. It’s not that ignorant people are necessarily a threat to the advancement of human knowledge. It’s that some who are ignorant are so dedicated to their positions of ignorance, or so fearful of new knowledge that they are openly hostile to new knowledge or learning. As bizarre as this may sound, it has unfortunately been common in history.

An architect explained to me once that the reason it is so common for public libraries to have statues of lions at their entrances is because the knowledge that the libraries contained (math, science, astronomy, how to create fire) was once considered to be sorcery or witchcraft. So that at one point in history, real lions were actually chained at the doors of libraries to frighten away the ignorant, and prevent them trying to burn the books inside. (Educated people of the time understood how to train and manage lions… probably from reading books inside the library). But to the ignorant, the ability to manage wild animals also appeared to be witchcraft/sorcery. Today, statues of lions at the doors of public libraries are the leftover architectural acknowledgement of the threat of ignorance of that time.

The men on this site have walked away from commitments to women and come to the idea of mgtow based on their own lived experiences, which are detailed here. Monks in monasteries have also made similar choices regarding commitments to women, but don’t require troll punters, or anti hacking software, or lions at the entrances. No one is trying to break into a monastery and demand ‘equal representation’ there. I’ve long suspected that the reason for this is that along with a vow of celibacy, monks also take a vow of poverty… so they have nothing of value to take.

If you are a lurker intent on learning, there is a cost-free, risk-free, obligation-free opportunity for that here. If you are a woman intent on taking something that is not for you, then you are a parasite or a thief. And if you are a troll intent on destruction, then you are as ignorant as the medieval peasants for whom libraries chained lions at the entrances.

While there may have only been one medieval copy of a book on how to tame animals or make fire, and it may have been possible to destroy that single copy, the idea of mgtow spreads and replicates across the internet literally at the speed of light. If you are trying to destroy the idea, you are wasting your time.

Ignorant people fear new ideas.
