Yeah I saw the Jesus child rape post too FrostByte.
So then we can all agree that I’m an asshole. Nothing new here. Maybe now you might want to address some of the questions in the OP???
I don’t think you’re an A-Hole Autolite.
You’re probably pretty similar to what I would have been in different circumstances.

Because when the conversions began they infused some pagan practices into Christianity to make the transition easier.

I just think it’s dangerous for Religion to be something that can’t ever be discussed or challenged or debated or made fun of.
We all know where that can lead.
That said there is no need to do it on a day special to people who believe it.

Glad I missed that one.
Used to be a guy in our town. Local Hard nut, gang member etc. Almost knocked me out once. Would mock and hassle any Christians. 666 n’ all that.
Anyway. He disapeared from the scene. Later found out he had a revelation. Full on 180 degree turn around. Would preach to any who listened. Freaked a lot of people out. They thought He’d lost his mind. When asked about it he said he’d never been happier.
Can happen to anyone. If it hits you, your life changes. You look back at your old life and tend to view yourself as an arrogant ignorant child rather than the sophisticated worldly wise person you thought you were.
You realise that when you thought you knew it all. You actuallly knew nothing.
Truth.
I heard a story one time, that really touched me in a profound way, though it was the inverse of your story. I was living in a 22ft camper in the desert at the time, and had been through hell with the divorce, losing my house, losing everything that we are told define us as men. A hermit, licking my wounds etc.
I was growing my hair out and pictured myself looking like an older, tanned version of 1990’s Eddie Vedder.
One day I went into town and as I was approaching the doors to the grocery store, I saw a weathered old homeless guy with unkempt greying hair approaching. then I realized I was seeing myself in the reflection… I was shocked, and literally had to stop for a second. It wasn’t long after this that I heard the story, and it really spoke to me.
The story – I probably won’t do it justice as I heard it: and who knows if it is even true, but the message was powerful, at least for me.
An artist wanted to do a painting that featured both Jesus and Lucifer in it. He began searching for his Jesus model, and after some time he found a man that exuded such handsome serenity, kindness and peacefulness that he chose him to sit for the Jesus part of the portrait.
It took him 2 decades of searching, until one day he saw a broken wretch of a man standing on the side of the road, hardened and spiteful looking, the absence of all beauty etc. He immediately realized he had FINALLY found his Lucifer. He pulled over and began explaining what he wanted from the man.
The man cut him off:
“I know… you don’t remember me? I posed for Jesus all those years ago….”So then we can all agree that I’m an asshole.
No I’m a asshole too.
Being an asshole isn’t necessarily bad. I can be one too.
My best answer is christian has indeed borrowed from many pagan ones. In fact the only part of christmas that is christian is they call it jesus’s birthday even when many scholars think it was in September. Tree, presents etc are all pagan ideals. The rise in 3 days. See the death and resurrection of ancient deities Horus, Osiris, Attis, Adonis and Mithras. I could go on and you can look it up. To me it is moot point. Below is why boys need fathers and why I don’t worry about it.
Once my dad invited some hare krishnas over to listen to their beliefs. He was an open-minded and wise man. I gave the guy a rash of s~~~. After my dad took me aside and said “You don’t know what people suffer. For some people religion is their last hope. You will NEVER have the right to take away someones hope.” Then he sent me to bed without supper.
I’m out

Yet with Atheists, with me, we have the exact opposite! I went from being indoctrinated as a believer to realizing that it was all complete nonsense.
Why is that???

Anonymous42Nothing wrong with giving them Easter and showing some respect.

I’ve heard it said, “Religion is for people who believe in hell, spirituality is for people who have been there.”
I was raised catholic, became atheist and currently have my own spiritual beliefs but religion is just not my thing.
"Women are directly adapted to act as the nurses and educators of our early childhood, for the simple reason that they themselves are childish, foolish, and short-sighted—in a word, are big children all their lives, something intermediate between the child and the man, who is a man in the strict sense of the word. Consider how a young girl will toy day after day with a child, dance with it and sing to it; and then consider what a man, with the very best intentions in the world, could do in her place.” Quote from Arthur Shopenhauer, 17th century philosopher
I went from being indoctrinated as a believer to realizing that it was all complete nonsense.
Perhaps it hasn’t resonated with you deeply as it has with others. Religion and ideals affect people differently. In your case being an atheist was a way of clearing your mind of dogma and replacing it with something else.

This is what I’m on about. It seems that it is accepted that modern Christianity is a mix-mash of pre-existing gods, beliefs and stories.
Why doesn’t this bother Christians? Are you not the least be curious about the validity and credibility of Christianity? How do you reconcile this? Many of you know that what you believe is in all likelihood just stories fabricated from older beliefs…
Why doesn’t this bother Christians?
Because for Christians the message of Jesus Christ is far more important.

Did it not ever occur to you that the reason you say this is because of where and/or when you were born? Do you not realize that you could be saying the exact same thing about some other totally different god had you been born two thousand years ago or born just twenty years ago but in India?
Have you really not considered this???

It’s because your exposure to religion was based on learning Texts. The accademic route. As you became more sophisticated in your reasoning you questioned those texts and found them improbable, contradictory and illogical. You made a rational decision to abandon what you saw as a false belief.
I would have done exactly the same, trust me. But I’m not religious by learning. I’m religious by experiencing. No one beleives in Ghosts until they get in the presence of one (more common than you think), No one beleives in UFOs till they see one (again, more common than you expect).
It’s hard to maintain a belief when you have no physical evidence before you. But, I’ve said it before and I’ll keep saying it, Troll or no Troll. He is real. He does exist, and death only affects the body. Not the soul. You go onto a different (and hopefully better), place. You really do.
I hope we both get to a good place, and if we do I’m so gonna’ catch up with you and take the p~~~ at how you didn’t believe me and “Look where we are now huh?”
One last thing. If you’re really interested. Try reaching out through Meditation or prayer and really f~~~ing put all your mental will into it, really mean it. Ask “The Universe” for answers on Jesus and see what happens. If you’re sincere you will get a reply.
It’ll freak you out.
Right, now back to the Judds 🙂

I’ve talked a lot about my Sleep Paralysis experiences on other threads. If anyone can claim that they’ve actually ‘seen’ a ghost or a demon then I know that I’d be at the very top of that list.
Yet I still don’t believe in ghosts. What I ‘saw’ was a hallucination generated completely in my own mind. I can accept the secular/medical explanation for what I experienced. Why others can’t is what I’m trying to figure out…

At the time it cut me to the core, even now 6 years later, it brought a tear to me eyes just typing it and then reading it.
I will leave my personal take on it out of it, to let it speak to men individually if they are open to it, but as it pertains to this thread I think it tells us that life will F~~~ING BREAK a man down. And no one will care, no one will help, not even other men in most cases. The best you can hope for is apathy while you suffer.
If a man needs to believe in something bigger than himself to make this life bearable, to get them through, who the f~~~ is any other man to challenge and question that?
It sure beats finding your comfort in a bottle, or pill bottle, or with a f~~~ing needle in your arm.GYOW.
And RPR,
That was a freaky story. Sent a chill through me.
The story – I probably won’t do it justice as I heard it: and WHO KNOWS IF IT”S EVEN TRUE, but the message was powerful, at least for me.
I guess Greg Honda missed that part of the post ^^^

How do you confirm a story like that? That is the only reason why I posted that disclaimer. It wasn’t some gotcha designed to make the reader feel stupid.
What an ass.No one beleives in Ghosts until they get in the presence of one (more common than you think),

Like I said, if you really want to know “Ask the Universe” Hard. Hard like you’re trying to move a cup across the table by using the power of your mind alone. And I don’t mean just for 5 minutes either. You will be heard. I don’t do it as I’m trying to keep a low profile.
If you don’t beleive that you have a non physical soul. Try Astral Projection. It only takes a couple of weeks to master. All you got to do is open up your seven centers. Just Google it. However, This is very dangerous and once opened up you may not be able to control when you leave your body. I wouldn’t normally suggest people try this but I think you need some proof that all is not what it seems. The praying route is safer by far..
If you really do seek answers they are out there.
If you get in trouble remember what I told you. And never ever Diss the Boss. You may need him.
It's Time to get Wise
How do you confirm a story like that?
And that is exactly my point. People will believe a story when there is no reason to think that it’s even true. Nothing else was intentionally implied…
