CP – you’re missing all the action. It’s a hurricane party everywhere!

They are having much fun. My oldest niece asked my Sister if I’d evacuate. My Sister told her “of course not”.

There is a charge to being in a tropical system as long as you’re not getting a Cat 3 or higher then it’s pure fear.

The biggest fools are the one’s going near and into the water like those c~~~s running from under the pier. One rogue wave is all it takes to suck you out in a rip current.

    Starting to hear transformers blowing.

She’ll be one hungover c~~~ mixing drinks like that.

It just got downgraded to a Cat2. They are very good about calling those turning points too. I know this is a crazy thread for you Euros.

I’m not entirely certain what all the hand wringing over Michael is all about. Yes it was a category 5 in Cuba and Haiti, but was never expected to be more than a category 3 by the time it hit Florida, and even then it was unclear if it would make landfall or just slide up the coast. It’s certainly not going to cross over into the gulf and power back up there.

So why the panic? Why the evacuation orders? Why all the cries of: “WORST HURRICANE EVAR!!!” from the media?

I mean Hurricane Andrew was an actual category 5. Don’t they remember Andrew? Katrina was another category 5. Surely they remember Katrina?

Why does a category 3 somehow rate as the “WORST HURRICANE EVAR!!! RUN AWAY!!! WE’RE ALL GONNA DIEEEE!!!”?

Ratings!!!! Fear sells. Plus as was mentioned prior, think how many sales this fear mongering generated. I spent $50 on gasoline. I would have spent it anyway.

Sidecar, I was in Home Depot yesterday to get some canned chainsaw gas. The people were all panicked to a one. It stressed the hell out of me just being around them.

Well I’ve got Corbon hollow point 223 as well as 12ga toys from ScatterGun Technologies incorporating Hart’s recoil reducers and night sights. Several glocks also. Thanks to the ex for motivating me to get armed.

    Panic sells. True story.

I was in a big box store to buy duct tape to repair a pretzel making machine on the exact same day the homeland security dude said everyone needs to have a roll of duct tape. I didn’t know about that. F~~~ing c~~~ dude just laughed at me. I wanted to hit him.

But how much is a mandatory evacuation order going to sell?

It all seems a little fishy. Whether conspiracy fishy or pussy fishy remains to be seen.

Guys, I’m glad I stayed. A heavy pine branch pierced my ceiling/roof and broke a window pain. I’m OK. I have improvised a water containment system as the water is dripping down the branches. I have a bailing bucket to get it outside.

Had I left. Water would be all over my wood floors throughout the house. Since my all knowing government says I cannot return until Sunday. I would have been royally f~~~ed with major water damage.

I already have a claim filed with my homeowners and a call into ServPro.

F~~~ you Chatham County Emergency Management! Had I heeded your evacuation orders. I would have been f~~~ed 50 times worse.

Same thing would have happened with me in Hurricane Dolly. I was up all night draining the roof ceiling from collecting water by punching holes and training the excess water into the tub.

Listening to the government in an evacuation is for rich people who can buy a new house.

Sorry to read about the damage but, as you correctly point out, you were there to take care of things immediately.

The storm has weakened and it may stay off shore, but the evac order hasn’t been lifted yet. Remain vigilant. The lesser amount wind and rains means LEA and dindus will be more likely to go “prowling”. Nastier weather would have kept them under cover, sadly.

Keep your profile low, brother. We’re all pulling for you.

I’m glad to hear you dodged a tree…a little concerned is all. And you’re worried about your hardwood floors? Way to go bro…you’ve got b~~~~, I’ll give you that. Volcanoes and earthquakes are a lot less frequent than hurricanes. At least the worst is almost over for you…I hope. Be careful and safe.

    @oldbill:

Word is they are not allowing people to return here until Sunday. I could not imagine the mess. I’ve already removed over 200 gallons of H2O. The house would have been ruined. State Farm is paying me by the hour to bail water all night long.
