The problem is this is not one guy pointing one gun. This is an army pointing tens of thousands of artillery cannons at tens of millions of people on both sides.

While true, that wasn’t Ironheart’s point.

He and too many others are buying the story that this time it’s “different” because a couple of test explosions spread over more than 20 years somehow equate the W-88/Trident-IIs system, the W-87/Minuteman-III system, or the B-60 Mod 10 air-dropped device. That’s complete nonsense.

The Norks have posed a huge conventional threat to Seoul since the ceasefire in ’53, that threat has only grown since, and that threat is completely independent of any supposed nuclear capability.

As I explained in a similar recent thread in the Politics forum, the Norks have so much artillery and rockets aimed at Seoul that even the Red Army of WW2 would call it over-kill. Seoul is just over 30 miles from the DMZ and, if the balloon goes up, nothing will stop all those Nork tubes and batteries from turning the city into rubble. Using their numbers, the Nork army is going to bulldoze right over the 2nd ID too and zerg rush right into Seoul.

The Norks aren’t interested in “winning”. They’re just interested in inflicting as much damage as possible before they lose. About a fifth of the ROK’s total population lives in the Seoul metropolitan area and the Norks are going to try to kill every single one of them.

I think we should launch a bunch of our own ICBM’s and turn North Korea into an ashtray. Then, when it was all over Trump could blame it all on the Russians. Isn’t that what CNN has been doing? Everything is Russia’s fault.

If we had an armed conflict with NoKo and if they use nukes it would be national suicide.

Is NK the only nation with nuclear ICBM capability whose leader got the job because of family nepotism?

Kim wasn’t elected nor did he ever really enter politics. He was just the previous ruler’s son and he now has his finger on the trigger. Isn’t that like giving any kid working at Micky D’s nuclear bombs to play with?

I’m thinking this pretty much s~~~ cans any criticism of Trump not being more ‘diplomatic’. He’s not dealing with a conventional diplomat or politician let alone a typical national leader…

Very true. And it’s already been pointed out that the last three presidents did nothing while North Korea developed its nuclear capability. Why? Because there’s no oil in North Korea, that’s why. It makes me sick.

people are so concerned with trite things like sexism, they won’t be able to do a thing. When the bombs fall I hope they gain perspective.

    Thanks Cu!

been a while since i saw that “hit the bodies hit the floor” piece.
It is an awesome catalyst for red pill Rage XD

Especially the “nothing wrong with me” – refusing to accept shame, critique, blame and responsibilities that are not mine…
But enable me to take action or inaction as needed… i always liked this piece:

and also the variant where Bush junior says “we got skilled dedicated motherf~~~ers ready to rain destruction down on you, and we got them in abundance”
that one is kickass as well.

In 1976, the Norks killed two US army officers in the JSA treaty compound at Panmunjom with axes. The US officers and ROK personnel were trimming a popular tree which blocked the line of sight between two UN outposts when the Norks jumped them. The US went to DEFCON 3 and sent in a mechanized engineering company backed by armed ROK troops to drop the tree a few days later

    That was operation Paul Bunyan.

Yea i don’t think that North Korea is really going to do anything. He knows it would be suicide. Unless that’s what he wants. He bombs us, we put a crater in the ground where North Korea used to be. The problem is, how would China take that. China says they are neutral, but we all know they have been propping up North Korea for years.

    That’s the question to ask.

It’s like shoveling s~~~ against the tide here sometimes.

The DPRK does not have a nuclear ICBM capability.

What they have is a missile with a theoretical ICBM range. They haven’t demonstrated any ability to guide or aim that missile and they have no warhead which “fits” it.

And it’s already been pointed out that the last three presidents did nothing while North Korea developed its nuclear capability. Why? Because there’s no oil in North Korea, that’s why. It makes me sick.

While herp derp oil hurr durr is a convenient and sometimes accurate description of US foreign policy, it does not apply here.

Going to war with the DPRK after the ’53 cease fire would have meant going to war with both the USSR, a nuclear armed superpower, and the PRC, a power which wouldn’t have nukes until 1964 but had more troops than you want to even think of. Such a war would have resulted in a nuclear exchange, maybe only “limited”, the loss of Hong Kong and Macao, the very likely loss of Taiwan, significant damage to Japan, and – as a bonus – a general war in Europe.

After the Sino-Soviet split in ’60, going to war with the DPRK would “only” involve war with the PRC and “maybe” involve war with the USSR. Consequences would be mostly the same.

After the fall of the USSR in ’89, war with the DPRK would only involve war with the PRC. Once Russia began to sort itself out in the mid-90s, there was a good chance of her aiding the Norks in various ways short of war.

Only in the last five years or so has the PRC seriously started signalling it’s displeasure with Nork adventurism. In fact, the recent announcements that if the DPRK starts a war the PRC will let them pay the consequences are completely unprecedented. As recently as 2010 during the Nork shelling of Yeonpyeong, the PRC had only condemned the attack while also warning against escalation by any party.

The US hasn’t settled the Nork’s hash for 60 years because first one and then another nuclear armed superpower has brushed off the DPRK’s shenanigans and promised to back the Norks in a war.

Oil has nothing to do with it.

I hear what you’re saying. The N.Koreans are claiming different. I also sincerely believe that you are most likely correct, but like my analogy with the ’empty’ gun shoved into your face, we must assume that the gun is indeed loaded and act accordingly.

Short of irrefutable and absolute proof that the N.Koreans are bluffing, we have to assume that they are not. Do you happen to have that irrefutable and absolute proof? If you do, now might be considered an appropriate time to present it…

I think they’ll continue to play silly f~~~ers and keep flying dud missiles into the water but that’s likely all that’s going to happen. China is now saying that they won’t back N.K. if N.K. shoots first. That’s what Trump was wanting and waiting to hear. The Chinese know that Kimmy isn’t going to launch an actual attack against the U.S. (if he were even capable) without China as his back-up…

The Korean war was almost won, until the Chinese troops intervene and pushed allied armies to the original frontier.
That would make NK a Chinese peon, as it owed its existence to China.

Bill is right regarding NK nuclear and ballistic capabilities. What is going on is a much bigger political game. It is the US and China playing poker. Meanwhile Trump is diverting attention from the deep state targets: Syria, Russia and Iran.

There is only a war of words to entertain the populace.

The Norks have yet to simulate a “warshot” with any of their missiles. They’ve either tossed a few IRBMs off into the Sea of Japan or fired potential ICBM designs straight up. While the latest “ICBM” shot reached a height which could translate to a range able to reach the US West Coast, it didn’t fly an ICBM’s path.

What the Norks haven’t done is simulate a “warshot” by making a suborbital launch across ICBM-like ranges at a target. All the ICBM powers, the US, UK, USSR/Russia, France, and PRC, as opposed to the IRBM powers like India and Pakistan made and still make ICBM “warshots” along a series of missile ranges to test and develop the guidance systems such missiles require. The US, for example, uses a “splash down” range near Johnson Atoll at which missiles fired from both silos in California and SSBNs are targeted.

The Norks have done none of that vitally necessary testing and work. None. We know that because you can’t hide a 7000km suborbital missile flight. In fact, the Norks have yet to even successfully launch a missile along a suborbital path let alone “guide” or “aim” one. All they’ve done is launch modern equivalents of V-2s, put something equivalent to Sputnik in a decaying orbit, and send large missiles straight up.

I’m not going to bother discussing in any detail the various warhead weight-shape-size, nosecone, and re-entry bus requirements of a working ICBM. Suffice it say, you don’t duct tape a nuke on a rocket or simply stuff one into a payload canister. The need to develop and improve all those aspects is another reason why the ICBM powers still test their missiles.

The Norks obsessively broadcast their launches for propaganda purposes. None of their missiles, either in propaganda footage or images capture by various intel sources, shows a Nork missile with nosecone or payload section capable of delivering a nuke. That means the Norks haven’t yet tested the “proper” nosecones or payload sections for their missiles.

The Norks haven’t launched a missile along an ICBM flight path and, because of that, the Norks haven’t been able to test any guidance systems, nosecones, or payload designs.

The Norks do not have an ICBM.

Using your faulty gun analogy, it’s not that the Norks are waving around a gun that may or may not be loaded. Instead, the Norks are waving around an airsoft toy and one easily identified as such.

The Chinese aren’t stupid. They’ve proven themselves time and time again. If anything they are probably some of the worlds best strategists. They plan way ahead, and they don’t get dragged into wars or conflicts. And I’m guessing this is what will happen here.
If a conflict did arise between NK and the US, I don’t believe China would wade in. I think they’d declare neutrality, whilst doling out the weapons and technology to NK (for a price). The US owes China wayyyy to much money for China to go up in arms against it, however the Chinese would stand on the sidelines then clean up when the battle is nearly done.
    Typical Chairman Mao tactics.

Guam is not a target. If you are going to go down in history as taking on the mighty US military machine do you think even the fat boy in NK is going to do so hitting Guam? LA, NY, DC, now that would make you go down in history as doing something. I am sure fat boy already has warhead on a rocket sitting on some container ship running back and forth between Cuba and NK. Cuba being its other trading partner.
