I’m not as informed as I’d like to be on this. One thing is bugging me though.
If China was okay with NK having nukes, wouldn’t THEY have provided them? Or at least the delivery systems?
I don’t think they’re happy at all. They have troops all along their border with NK. It’s assumed to stop a military invasion. What if it’s not.
Again, pure speculation since I really don’t know. It just makes sense that every neighbor is calling on China to control their kid, maybe that’s their plan all along. Let tensions build until the world basically begs China to take them out.
China would expand and nobody can say anything because they were asked to.
Just a margarita induced thought. Cheers bros
To answer the original question, I imagine a lot of folks are like me and rather fatigued on politics. It’s not that we don’t care, it’s just that we realize nothing is likely to happen, half or more of what we hear about it is going to be false, and knowing anything isn’t going to change the situation anyway.
A big part of me feels like I should avoid politics like this so that I can better stomach it when it does become important again…like around elections.
However, if it interests you, then be entertained.
Ok. Then do it.
Women vote for Libs and Libs (Bill Clinton) gave NK nukes.
Thus, women need to STFU about NK.
Women gave NK nukes.
Libs (Bill Clinton) gave NK nukes.
Yeah, the Demoncrats seem to be pretty quite on that issue lately…

Anonymous3I imagine a lot of folks are like me and rather fatigued on politics.
I second that. I gave up on news before the US elections, as I did not have the stomach anymore.
Unfortunately I resumed news watching of late, something I am regretting again. We will know for sure that something happened when we see the big mushrooms. Anything before that is disinformation.
Got to hand it to NK. They are broke, backwards, isolated from the scientific community etc yet they still breed their own people smart enough to train & build and equip nukes.
Makes you wonder how??
I’ve been wondering about this too! The whole country can’t be made up of nothing but total retards. Isn’t there anybody smart enough to see what the Fat Kid is doing and realizes that he’s got to go? I mean if Kimmy Boy were to disappear, isn’t there anyone in the shadows who can then take control and get this s~~~ sorted out???
Why doesn’t US quietly organise an assassination. The NK people won’t care.
Why doesn’t US quietly organise an assassination. The NK people won’t care.
I would say that it must be more difficult than we think or it would have been a done deal by now. I’m thinking that the preferred option would be to have him exit ‘Qaddafi’ style with a surgical conventional strike. Or at least make it appear that way…
How is that YOUR problem?
If the Pacific Asian countries got at it in World War Three (and go nuclear) it will be everyone’s problem. At the very least the nuclear fallout will blow our way.
Does it appears like South Korea and Japan are addressing the danger at their doorstep?
They aren’t because they expect the U.S. to address the problem for them. Like always. And the U.S. always has addressed the such problems for them because, honestly, we really don’t want Japan and South Korea and all weaponizing to deal with North Korea themselves. The last time Japan had a real military it did Very Bad Things™ to all its neighbors, and they remember. So Japan and South Korea weaponizing makes China and the Philippines nervous, so they arm up (or arm up more in the case of China), which makes Indonesia and Burma etc. nervous, so they arm up, and so on and so on. Soon enough we have a full blown arms race in Asia, and since militarizing one’s economy is expensive, all those now heavily armed nations will be very hungry for natural resources, and constantly facing off against each other over them. And a lot of those countries aren’t exactly what anyone could call politically or economically stable, so it’s only a matter of time before the s~~~ would explosively hit the fan. All because the U.S. couldn’t be bothered to deal with a noisy little s~~~heel of a country like North Korea.
You see, this NK issue is imperialistic thinking,
What’s your point?
Applying an arbitrary label to the issue doesn’t change the fact that a disarmed Asia is a Good Thing™.
But empires have a tendency of overreaching their resources and ignoring when circumstances have changed.
But the U.S. isn’t actually an empire, regardless of how its detractors try to malign it as such. Yes it has a definite economic sphere of influence, but that is not the same thing at all. The U.S. has trading partners, not colonies, and you, yourself, have pointed out how overly generous U.S. trade policies have impoverished itself while enriching its trading partners. That’s not what empires do. It’s really the opposite. the roman empire invaded Britain to suck all the tin they could get out of it, not to sign disadvantageous trade agreements for tin.
If anything the U.S. isn’t so much an empire as it’s an overburdened nanny in a kindergarten of unruly toddlers.
Forcing foreign wars to a president elected because he promised to take care of Americans first!
Except it doesn’t have to be resolved that way. Like I keep sayiong, there is a diplomatic solution, but it’s one with China and South Korea, not with North Korea. They both have far more to lose from a U.S. military resolution than the U.S. does. Simply get them in a room and tell them they have thirty days to come to an agreement over North Korea, Yalta style, or the U.S. will unload 3 kilotons per square mile of surface level atomic hell on the country for maximum long term yield, resolving the North Korea matter permanently. And if China or South Korea bluster and bombast against that, making their own threats back, cry about “muh humanity”, just look them straight in the eye and say: “Watch me. You keep calling us the bad Guys? Fine. We’ll be the f~~~ing Bad Guys. We have plenty more where that came from. Are you really willing to end the world for the sake of lil’ Kim Jong Fatso?” Trust me, they’ll blink and come up with a solution within a week, and North Korea will be done a week later. Problem solved.
And if they don’t blink? Well the after thirty days are up North Korea will get a Very Special Delivery, courtesy of the USS Alaska. On time and on target.
Either way, we won’t have to deal with North Korea ever again.
If China was okay with NK having nukes, wouldn’t THEY have provided them?
Bill Clinton gave them nukes, on North Korea’s “solemn promise” that they wouldn’t use them to make weapons grade fissionables. Then what did North Korea go and do?
Oops.
All Bill Clinton did was prove beyond any doubt that there is no diplomatic resolution to North Korea.
Or at least the delivery systems?
Clinton didn’t give them that. Or China. China are themselves rather concerned about North Korea having deliverable nukes, because they know a lot of those will be pointed at them.
Most of the missile technology is actually copied from plans the Russians gave them, because Russia desperately needed capital (or on this case more likely slave labor) and knew that the plans they were giving them wouldn’t be able to reach Russia itself.
Why doesn’t US quietly organise an assassination. The NK people won’t care.
Because in states like North Korea there will always be someone to step up and immediately replace him. The North Koreans already have enough political assassination within their own ranks to demonstrate this. And lil’ Kim Jong Fatty’s successor might be more competent than Fatty himself (who is really mostly a figurehead and pampered pet of the state than a true power – the old men in the big hats really run the show over there).
Okay, so can any of you ‘smart guys’ answer this question???
kyky @Thotfulmami Jul 28

how are the nukes supposed to reach California if North Korea is across the map from us???

I know that’s a stupid question from a stupid woman and we’re just mocking her, but this image should put the whole situation into perspective:

Anonymous3If the Pacific Asian countries got at it in World War Three (and go nuclear) it will be everyone’s problem.
You are right, but you imply that the ONLY SOLUTION comes from the US dealing with it.
The possibility that the US may actually create more problems is also on the table.we really don’t want Japan and South Korea and all weaponizing to deal with North Korea themselves.
Now that is what I mean by imperial thinking. The reality is the US cannot control what all other countries do forever, if they arm themselves or with what kind of weapons.
You are talking about a Pax Americana, that would be equivalent to the Pax Romana. Its would be based in the idea that the only force allowed to exist being American. It is a jolly good concept, but who pays for it? And how long it is sustainable?
That is what I mean by overextending resources. That is what happened with Rome, and they evaluated its currency to pay for the military expenses.
How do you devalue physical coins?
But the U.S. isn’t actually an empire, regardless of how its detractors try to malign it as such. Yes it has a definite economic sphere of influence, but that is not the same thing at all.
Sidecar, you are not talking to a PC utopian. The association of empire=malign is cultural marxist conditioning that I dont have. There is nothing wrong in an empire in itself, but rather how it wields its power.
The US is the dominant power today. There was always a dominant power throughout the ages.
An empire is just a projection of power, that can do more good or bad, but it always takes care of its interests.Be sure that some interests are being taken care of. If it is not the American people’s interests, that is something else.
If anything the U.S. isn’t so much an empire as it’s an overburdened nanny in a kindergarten of unruly toddlers.
This reminds me of this scene:
You are right, but you imply that the ONLY SOLUTION comes from the US dealing with it.
I haven’t said that at all. What I have said is that sitting around with our thumbs up our collective asses and doing nothing, or hoping to talk North Korea out of their ambitions is provably NOT a solution.
Again, I’ve always said the optimal solution is for China and South Korea to deal with North Korea between themselves, but they are never going to do that unless we give them a timeline with a definite deadline after which we will resolve the problem by making North Korea irrelevant.
Its would be based in the idea that the only force allowed to exist being American.
But “allowed” has nothing to do with it. It’s not that the U.S. doesn’t permit other countries to militarize. That would be imperial. But that’s not what’s happening here. Other countries choose to rely on American military power instead of building their own militaries because it’s cheaper for them. An empire wouldn’t give them that choice.
That is what I mean by overextending resources.
The welfare state is far, far more to blame for that than the military. The same was true in Rome. People only blame the military budget because they don’t have the integrity to put the blame where it should lie: on the sacred cow heads of all the single mothers s~~~ting out ever more hungry mouths for everyone to feed.

Anonymous3The welfare state is far, far more to blame for that than the military.
My friend, THAT is politics! The carrot and the stick.
The carrot is the money spent to appease the public. The stick is the military force necessary to maintain the order (internal and external). They are both sides of the same coin. And that is the delusion of government that he can keep the game going forever.
And the citizens have the delusion of believing in the government propaganda. What I have said is that sitting around with our thumbs up our collective asses and doing nothing, or hoping to talk North Korea out of their ambitions is provably NOT a solution.
If it is a possible solution or not remains to be seen.
What is being sold by politicians is another thing.
My bet is all this situation is a distraction.
They are both sides of the same coin.
Wrong. The carrot is huge and overtoppling the economy. The stick is tiny by comparison. The carrot has no constitutional basis for its existence. The stick does.
If it is a possible solution or not remains to be seen.
Bulls~~~. Diplomacy and patience have been done to death, and the only result has been North Korea getting ever closer to their goal of deliverable nuclear weapons. They have failed. They will not work. They are not a solution. Saying “they might work this time” is like saying “give communism another chance”.
North Korea is an EXCELLENT distraction for China.
Here we are, talking about DPRK again. Wanna know what we’re not talking about? China.
China is building man-made islands, and deploying military assets all over the region. They are quietly asserting themselves as THE NUMBER ONE player in the region, and very soon, the world. The Chinese are extremely smart, and crafty. They are playing us big time.
The answer, is no.
If China was okay with NK having nukes, wouldn’t THEY have provided them? Or at least the delivery systems?
Yep. This is the first thing on here I have read that isn’t total horses~~~.
I don’t think they’re happy at all. They have troops all along their border with NK. It’s assumed to stop a military invasion. What if it’s not.
This however, is not correct. Nothing personal, it is just factually incorrect, like everything else Sidecar and others have said.
There is not a person on here who understands North Korea, I think, but they all keep talkin’.
Wrong.
Bulls~~~.
*sigh*
If you weren’t so condescending, perhaps one could actually teach you something. As to you constantly swearing directly at your brothers here so much, I think that’s really unfortunate.
