Does anybody remember the Shelby Mustang 500s?

I think the car in “Gone in Sixty Seconds” is one of those. Eleanor was it’s name.

In the original, ‘Eleanor’ was a 1973 Mustang Mach I. They used a ’67 Shelby GT 500 for the Nic Cage remake…

67 pontiac catalina with the 400.

I put a Pontiac 400 in a Grumman aluminum delivery truck. I didn’t have a clutch piloting tool so I put dabs of silicone on the clutch and flywheel to hold it in place, I was bouncing wheelies with the clutch held to the floor trying to get that f~~~er broken loose! Silicone is good for about 8 wheelies!

MG, you allways go BIG on the power- weight ratio! I like that about you!

    Show Time!

( Yall might wanna stand back a little more)

@OldSage: It scared the p~~~ out of my friend. He let off the accelerator pedal and was lucky to have lived to tell the tale.

My scariest muscle car ride was in a ’67 Chevelle SS on a twisty road along the salt marsh lined with massive oaks with a maniac at the wheel. Never again!!

One tree has claimed many a life over the years.

Thats all you can do. Lift, and pray.If you still know him, tell him what I said. He’ll remeber the feeling in his hands, get cold and sweaty again, and say yea, that explains it!I had a 66 chevelle (pussy magnat! ahah). I put it into a corner hard once, and it bycled on me! Managed to keep it from rolling, but never did that again!

I learned it from my first RC plane when I was 15, Cessna 182 with a fox .40, the motor was new and unbroken in, ran choppy, stalled and crashed after rotation.

You’d like my SeaMasters, one’s a Sato 1.5 4 stroke and the other is a .80 two stroke (both are nitro) the 1.5 Sato is 5 hp. They don’t have enough power unless they get squirrely when you punch it! I like muscle planes too!!!

Fastest muscle car of all time that could have been ordered from dealer would have been the 427 shelby cobra in 1965 or correct me if im wrong 1969 hemi dodge dart, they only made like 90 of those I think. Again im just talking 0-60, and quater mile times, all that really mattered in those days

Going with a 1971 Dodge Charger R/T. The last generation of good Chargers was 71-74 before the gas shortage crisis of the mid 70s wiped out most classic muscle cars.

    How about a Dodge Viper?

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/1993-Dodge-Viper-RT-10-/162349183871?forcerrptr=true&hash=item25ccc3f37f:g:lccAAOSw2gxYpxQV&item=162349183871

Best Deal on classic cars today. 16,000 miles, $35,000. Maybe not this one I have seen them as low as $20,000 with more miles. A real AC Cobra 427 is out of reach, but these seem cheap to me.

They turn heads and are a kick to drive. The license plate on my 95 Viper says “PILLRED”, red pill was not available.

The down fall of the muscle car was the EPA putting stricker emession rules on them.I think 72 was the last year before that. They just couldnt get the big horse power anymore after that.

I’d say that it was the ’74 Dodge Monaco 440 that marked the very end of that era…
