If i somehow survive into old age and can afford it i will end up getting one.

My scareiest muscle car ride..In my fav 68 GTX 426 hemi.

Another friend had that car! Belvedere GTX, lit it up with no muscle car experience and T-boned it against a tree, from where he took off on the corner he crashed within 20 feet! horse shoe in the roof running all the way down to the rocker, another contender that lost his muscle within 2 weeks!

Hey Sage, AMC made a 390, same block as the 401 but no forged steel crank.

The Javelins that weren’t geared to go off the line went very fast and they handled decent.

Packard/Nash/Rambler/AMC/Chrysler/Jeep/Eagle She’s American alright! That slut has been around!

Soetimes they dont last long! Hahah The javelin handled great! Had to crank it left then hard right at over 100. Drifted nice and evenly. A stupid young man learned a very important lesson that day.

Do your stuff were this no one to hurt or kill but yourself!!!.I still nearly cry when I think what I almost did. Poor basterds probably still have nightmares about it!!!

@AY: I pulled into traffic hard in the Stang a few weeks ago and my rear end was oscillating. I handled it properly and recovered. It took a while to adapt to old school tech again.

Driving a real muscle car is nothing like driving a ricer. You have to respect the power and torque or else. We older guys learned to drive with non-computerized cars where driver skill was necessary. There is a major difference.

Personally, I prefer having more control for myself.

Some of you guys on here are so lucky to be part of that era even if you were kids going into the car dealer in 1969-70. What an experience it must have been..convo was probably like hey dad can you please get the 440 instead of the 383

F~~~ no, wrong decade, we were buying them used for $100 dollars during the gas crunch! Those cars were produced during the gasoline wars, at that time I was buying gasoline @ 32cents a gallon for my minibike!

We 80s boys got to get them cheap.

Even a Ford Maverick from back then sells for a crazy amount these days. The 302 based Maverick Grabber was a total sleeper.

@Tower: Yet again, 1974 rears its ugly head.

During the gas crunch, I had just bought a 67 pontiac catalina with the 400. (?). I had to push it thru the gas line. Im still tired from it haha

67 pontiac catalina with the 400.

I put a Pontiac 400 in a Grumman aluminum delivery truck. I didn’t have a clutch piloting tool so I put dabs of silicone on the clutch and flywheel to hold it in place, I was bouncing wheelies with the clutch held to the floor trying to get that f~~~er broken loose! Silicone is good for about 8 wheelies!

Does anybody remember the Shelby Mustang 500s?

I think the car in “Gone in Sixty Seconds” is one of those. Eleanor was it’s name.
