I get tense. That gives muscle shake. I have to consciously relax, maybe even put the gun down for a bit.

Funny isn’t it how the movies tend to show them really pumped or angry before taking a great shot when in reality its the worst thing. I have found shooting to be almost a mirror of life. When you are trying too hard it falls apart, the trick for me with life and with shooting is being relaxed and is being happy with myself and my performance on the day whatever it might be but that doesn’t come easy unless you were one of those people who don’t want to try hard.

It got so bad that in the end I took a full year’s break from competition shooting and had a double whiskey before the club’s annual match last year (which I was press ganged into). Came in tied for first place but the other guy (the captain who makes the rules) said something about his last target being better than mine so he won when I thought it would be about who had the most inner tens but I was cool about it because I had broken the jinx. Once I finally learned how to shoot handguns, (which took me hundreds of consecutive rounds), at times I would hit targets so well that it seemed effortless. I would then try to speed up and lose my mind control and start missing. Most of the time when that happens, I am able to stop and adjust myself, getting my mind right and go right back into hitting the targets. It’s kind of like a switch that falls open and has to be closed again.

Shooting is a wonderful hobby and sport. I enjoy it immensely.

I miss him too. I hope he’s okay. Last he said he was homeless and doing odd jobs. He was the guy that made me sit up and think why kill myself when I can watch others die. It’s so much more pleasurable watching others slowly waste away without having any control over their own lives.

As far as suicide is concerned? I suggest the Buddy system! Might as well clean up shop if your going to do it. Share the love I guess? 🙂

As sad as it is, for some its just the right choice for them. I mean if you really want to show everyone that you really are just a rug to be walked on, then be my guest. Why Nothing makes these people smile more then hearing men kill themselves. And when you die, they just spend more money and waste it on trying to make sure the rest of you live in a miserable state. But Kudos for showing them up by not playing I guess.

There is a lot to be said about what the end of your life means. Personally? If its not an act of Defiance? Then why would you do it for the sole benefit of others who only wished nothing but bad for you? Why give them the satisfaction?
If you MUST kill yourself? At least be Original about it!

Nice choice gents. Its that old adage “Buy the best glass you can afford and put a rifle under it”. If you can’t see it properly, you can’t hit it.

I agree that it is a great hobby and one that is so misunderstood by its critics. You have to be humble, self critical and dedicated to learn to shoot and then you have to take your ego out of the picture to perform best. Its definitely a self improvement activity but you listen to some of the things the left say and you would think it was about toxic men trying to compensate for an inadequate penis size. One despairs.

You can’t listen to anything the looney left says. Nothing they say makes any sense, ever.

Guns have always been a part of my life since I was very young living on a farm out in the middle of nowhere. One of the best things my dad ever did for me was to teach me gun safety and to learn how to shoot. I have some very good memories of getting up early in the morning and heading out to the frosty fields at sunrise with the birddog to try to shoot some quail. Even if we didn’t get any birds, it was still enjoyable just to get out in the fresh cold air and then to return home to the warmth of the woodstove and the smell of breakfast cooking up.

We have always been a gun culture country in the U.S. and that will never change. I pray that it never changes. Owning a gun is a great responsibility and it’s great for the sport of target practice and hunting and a great tool for protection.
