I’m no proselytizer, and I respect all opinions but I do admit SOME atheists have a smug condescension when it comes to discussing religion.
Atheists are too often unfairly bashed as being ‘arrogant’ for their claim that god isn’t real. Yet no one has ever been accused of “smug condescension” for claiming that ‘2+2=4′.
And both claims are equally valid. It’s not the Atheists’ fault that Theists are just unable to figure this out…“God isn’t real” and “2+2=4” are absolutely not both valid.
You have evidence for the latter, you can count them out with any object you have at hand, you can write it out on paper.
“God doesn’t exist” really? Show me. I can’t show you He does, nor do I wish to show you as “wrong” and me as “right”, its a ridiculous circular argument. How does one ‘win’ it when you say He doesn’t exist and I say he does but is unknowable in any human understanding? Neither of us have evidence, but I’m putting faith in the fact that I’m here, the world is outside, and there’s a REASON why there is something and not nothing. I don’t expect anyone else to think like me, but billions do in one form or another.
THIS is the arrogance of SOME atheists. Atheism is a belief system in its own right, it is a reaction to the unknowable as much as a little old lady counting her rosary at the back of the chapel. You have FAITH in your “I don’t believe in God”
None of that is in the life of Jesus as described in the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. You’re thinking about the Old Testament, I mentioned I have reservations about that. Faith isn’t always blind, a Christian seeks values in the life and teaching of Christ. Jesus told his disciples to suffer (put up with) little children to come to him, because the Kingdom of God belongs to them, the truly innocent. He never said burn or stone them.
Yeah, well, I’m sure that I could find ‘value’ or examples to be followed in the lives of Charles Manson or Idi Amin too if cherry picking is allowed…
That’s just churlish and logically fallacious, so I’ll just leave it there. Like I said I’m not trying to debunk your belief system, but I won’t argue if logic isn’t being used.
The main issue I have is the indoctrination of children. Religion, politics, or any other ideology taught to a child, that doesn’t have the mental capacity to challenge it, seems like abuse to me.
Expose these ideas to people over the age of 25 and I don’t see a problem with it.
You saved me from trying to explain my feelings on it.
I agree, psychics are fraudsters. Jesus said beware of false prophets.
Of course all psychics are fakes! But like priests and ministers, there are psychics who actually believe that what they are doing is for real. Whether it psychics or ministers or any religious leader, what they’re all selling is bulls~~~.
That was the point I was wanting to make…
“God doesn’t exist” really? Show me.
This has been covered ad nauseam on other threads. Nobody can prove the non-existence of things that don’t actually exist. Because they don’t exist is the reason you can’t prove that they don’t exist.
You’re asking me to prove something that you know is impossible to prove and its disingenuous. OTOH, if god were real, it would be at least possible to prove it.
Theists have the advantage here and they still fall pathetically short of proving their claim…
Theists have the advantage here
The burden of proof is a disadvantage. I don’t know if gods exist, but even if evidence of their existence was provided, I wouldn’t worship them.
Self-improvement is my religion. Sovereignty is my god.

Because god doesn’t exist, it is impossible to prove it. You can’t prove the non-existance of the Easter Bunny nor Santa Claus either.
If god did exist, it would at least be possible to prove it.
The Atheist claim is impossible to prove (because it is true) whereas the Theist claim would be possible to prove (if it were true). This is their advantage IMO…

I see what you mean, you can’t prove a negative.
Self-improvement is my religion. Sovereignty is my god.
How many times are we separated in the name of some religion or god(s). We spend our lives living for some other thing, never taking the moment to enjoy life as it is in the present. Are all religions fake, I don’t care, that is not the point. My point is, why sacrifice the very life you are given for the belief that it is. That is a rather “in your face” to the creator, if it is true.
The latest trend for religion in the U.S. (the past 15+years) is to judge men with and by it. Even Atheist chicks do it, to see how obedient a man will be. They pick and choose what parts of a religion that will get their desires met, and hold the men to it.
My personal belief is that religion is the doctrine of fear that a government utilizes to control the masses. The better they feed into any religion, which one doesn’t matter, the better they can control the followers as sheep. Unknown to the follower, they are being led by wolves. Women are doing what they know how to do best, just parasites nibbling off the scraps, as the beast controls the world.
You claim that your point isn’t about whether religion is fake or not, yet that was your main point. That and how religion makes girls worse. You took your belief of God not existing, your dislike of religion and pointed it on girls.
It upsets you that there are religious girls that live their life by only some of the rules. You’re also upset when girls are unsure of God and aren’t really religious but still follow some of the rules. You mentioned atheist girls are guilty of that as well. In other words, you don’t believe in it and are upset when you encounter girls that are in any way religious. This kind of comes off like the transgender people on YT being upset with straight people who won’t date them or have sex with them.
Honestly, it sounds like you’ve encountered girls that are sticking to their convictions which you prefer they didn’t. Are they using it to reject some form of sex with you? I don’t know, I hope that’s not what you’re referring to because regardless of the religious rules they’re cherry picking, if they all gave up their last bit of belief in religion and God to satisfy you, wouldn’t that make them even more sheep? Choosing to hold on to a belief or changing to a new belief because someone told them to.
What I took from your comment… You don’t believe in God or religion. People who do are sheep. For that reason, your question as to why people believe in something they can’t see is rhetorical. It wouldn’t matter what their reason is, your mind is already made up.
I also want to point out that based on the religion I assume those girls follow, they aren’t expected to be perfect. Even if they lost their faith completely and found their way back, their religion says they can still be forgiven. It’s what’s in your heart that matters. Nobody is perfect and when you recognize you did wrong, you try to do better. If you took the words of Jesus and lived your life by them, you’d be a really good person. He was even a carpenter meaning he literally spent his time creating while on earth.
There are more than enough reasons women suck, but believing in God and trying to morally be a good person isn’t one of them.

If I put The Sims on auto as they eat, sleep, bathe, work, fight, date etc. Do they know who I am or who their creator is?

Sims are not sentient beings, they’re computer generated. So I’m guessing no…

I agree it’s impossible to prove God. Unless God exists and shows us. I’m not sure being created by something else means you would have to know they exist. I won’t go into why I believe there are no such thing as aliens, but let’s say they existed and could get here from a far away planet. Humans know how to clone, why couldn’t aliens create us and leave us here to watch how we operate and maybe even learn how to make new technology they never thought of, or cures, how to build a functioning society since they all have their problems. A computer program beat the best chess player in the world. Some of the self-learning programs they are creating are smarter than humans in a way. We wouldn’t know aliens exist if they didn’t want us to, and what if aliens were humans who started a 2nd world to watch? Whose to say? The more I come across and learn, the more it makes me realize there is a lot I don’t know and will probably never know due to the world being built on lies. All things considered, whatever success we have in life, whether it’s money, a big house, nice cars etc. we all have the same thing in common, we die. They are going to leave that all behind. I don’t care if people want to have all that stuff and consider making lots of money successful, I’m just saying we know this life is temporary.
I agree it’s impossible to prove God.
Perhaps you should reread my posts. I’m saying that if god existed then it would at least be possible to prove that. It’s impossible to prove that he doesn’t exist. It’s impossible to prove the non-existence of anything that doesn’t actually exist.
Reference proving the existence of god, I think a few verified miracles might help. Maybe somebody regrowing a severed head or leg might be a good start. This shouldn’t be asking too much considering that believers throughout the ages have claimed that there have been countless actual miracles. Verification of just one of them you’d think would be a no-brainer…

Got it. I thought you were implying that we would for sure know that God exists if there was one.
Clinging to a “religion”, or to a “faith”, is just Clinging to that same Matrix that we are all trying to ESCAPE.
IT’S ALL PART OF THE MATRIX !!
In a World of Justin Beibers Be a Johnny Cash
One of the biggest things in this that I read, is the confusion of the line between faith and religion. A faith can be a religion, but not all faith is religion. I have faith, but I neither trust nor involve myself in religion. I know some here said they believe in neither, in the spiritual sense, and that is fine too, but just a gentle reminder to those that think they are one in the same.
My faith needs no validation from another man, in itself. However, the knowledge, wisdom and understanding is something that I seek to gain from the many debates with others on the topic. For obvious reasons, it will never be a case closed idea in my head, just as long as I can still learn.
