PPR, sorry if the facts don’t fit your beliefs but effectively the entire German population around WWII were christian and it never stopped them doing the most brutal acts ever done.

And yes God With Us was on German soldiers belt buckles, god might have been with them but he decided to do nothing about the horrific acts he was there for.

Hitler in his own historical factual quotes said he was a Christian.

Autolite, I just watched that documentary. The part with Dawkins sitting in the Church with Pastor Ted Haggard. Cringe inducing. President George W. Bush’s butt buddy. You know Ted Haggard got busted for f~~~ing a male prostitute and doing crystal meth with him for 3 years. No kidding. All of these Religious types are always, say one thing do another. Ever notice there seems to be an inverse relationship between religion and morality. Catholic Priests raping boys, Protestant Preachers having gay sex, doing meth, and getting filthy rich by swindling people. That is pretty mild compared to the old days when they would kill and torture non-believers. If anything, Religion seems to be detrimental to Morality.

Yeah, that was one of the better documentaries. Others like Bill Mayer’s “Religulous”, “The God Who Wasn’t There”, Julia Sweeney’s “Letting Go of God” and most of Richard Carrier’s stuff is all worth a watch too. The only problem is that a lot of this stuff gets pulled down off of YouTube and you gotta watch it as soon as you can find it.

Another reason why debating with Theists is pretty much pointless today is because we now have so much evidence that clearly shows all religion to be man made makes arguing about it absurd really. I mean it’s pretty much self evident that religion is just all bulls~~~.

I don’t have the inclination to get into it so much anymore. It’s like trying to convince somebody that the Tooth Fairy isn’t real. I don’t know where people like Dawkins or Krauss even get the drive to carry on. I just don’t have it in me to constantly have to point out the obvious to people who simply refuse to acknowledge reality…

Yes, I know about Haggard. This stuff is nothing new. You might not remember, but many years ago the famous televangelist Jimmy Swaggart was caught with a whore and that really made a big stink too.

Jim Bakker was another one who was taken down by scandal…

I think I have morality figured out. Morality stems from the fact that thousands of years ago, humans realized that they could accomplish more by working together. One human, no matter how strong or dominant, stood little chance of surviving prehistoric times. It took small groups to ward off predators, share information, hunting together…. etc. So… morality is that feeling that you should treat others fairly, because ultimately it may benefit YOU!

Yes, exactly! That’s precisely how it is explained in the previously referenced Dawkins video. Your chances for your own individual survival is improved when the chances for the survival of ‘the group as a whole’ improves. If Chimpanzees could figure this out then it’s no great stretch to suggest that humans figured it out as well… ..

You’re the one pushing your feels and opinions. I provided the take of a prominent historian on the matter, one who wrote a highly regarded book on the issue of Hitler’s religious beliefs, and who did extensive research on the matter, and that is all I provided – none of it was my personal opinion. None of it was me feeling “hurt”.
What source do you provide besides your feels and opinions?
