I find rights of passage and the shaming language that is applied to the men in the West whenever they are not servicing women to be connected.

In our culture the right of passage is the ability to service women. Comes on around 28 to 32. It is seen as the possession of a car, house (rental or ownership but you’d better not live with family), job, work out, kiss her ass and show the presence of no apparent needs from her. Seriously you are right about the missing initiation rituals in our “streamlined” and c~~~ified society.

In my school days, there were those men that got attention by p~~~ing people off, destroying property, wrecking cars, driving drunk.

These “tests” were called “proof of courage” and they even included burglaries and robberies. And as a young man, if you did not participate, then you risked being called “a loser”.

Exactly. Western Culture has men on hamster wheels proving they’re real men by living their life constantly pleasing women.
It’s an equation that only works for women and one where there’s never a definitive answer till death.
The immensely successful “Manhood” carrot tactic is obliterated once a man realizes he’s a man, he always was. He can’t be exploited any more.
I think initiation ceremonies would have been an enormous help in this realization, especially being recognized by your whole peer group, as a man. It’d settle the issue for life for many men.
Societies need men to think independently and objectively and have a minimum of influence from the narcissistic and manipulative influence of women to function and survive.

Trigger warning, it’s short but summarizes the way feminist women (AWALT) think and our societies estimation of the value of a “Man”.

According to this main stream representation of our culture a man is marriageable if “he’s got the cash, he’s got a condo, he’s got a car, he’s got a career”.
