    Have you always been selfish?

Maybe, I’m not sure. It’s hard to gauge with all the other no good, selfish f~~~s out there.

Introverts are usually deemed as “selfish”, or are we more honest and wear the same face?

I am introverted and have been my entire life. Its how I am, I make no excuses. The extroverts who f~~~ like bunnies and party all the time and p~~~ away money on worthless frivolity make no excuses for themselves.
I need alone time, people are exhausting to deal with. Business or family or anyone. There’s also been some work done regarding happiness of people and their alone time with respect to intelligence levels. The higher your intelligence the happier people are when they get more alone/quiet time.

My sentiments. I live in a shared house. It pains me to deal with the others, but hey this post is not about me, it’s about Herms selfish nature.

The f~~~ is Christmas anyway? I’m a Christian and I can tell you that Christmas has nothing to do with my Lord and Saviour. He wasn’t even born in December.

Isn’t it something how things change? Even though He wasn’t born on December 25th, at least back when I was a kid, that was the day we celebrated the birth of Jesus. I know a guy who wanted his kids to know what the real Christmas is supposed to be about, so one year, his family had no tree or lights. There were no presents. He and his family prayed and made that day about the birth of Jesus.

Maybe just tell them you dont mind them, just that you arent cooking. Get a cheese/meat platter with crackers, some beers. Or in a lot of places, many grocery stores will do all the cooking of a holiday meal for you and deliver it to you.

It’s a mental thing. It’s the “obligation”. I actually love cooking for people…….WHEN I WANT TO. I like to have my father and son over…….WHEN I WANT TO. The obligation ruins the holidays for me. The stupid people running around “buying Christmas” ruins the holidays for me. The black Friday bulls~~~ ruins the holidays for me. The holidays are now for stimulating the economy.

Whatever being introverted entails is fine by me. I will not change to please anyone and I’m happy with who I am.
You are so right when you say that people are exhausting to deal with. Most people do not show their true self but instead play games of hide and seek, have ulterior motives, are manipulative, judgemental and then want you to believe anything they say without flinching. Sorry, it doesn’t work that way in my world. If you don’t have the b~~~~ to be real and upfront then I got no time for you.
My alone time is therapeutic and calms the beast within from unleashing its devastation around me so it’s not a luxury, it’s necessity.
If I don’t see anyone for a year it would be fine by me.

‘Selfish’ people are often people who other people want to rip off, but failed.

Thats what I am saying. Then on these days, purposely do not cook. Put out a spread or have a store or restaurant do the cooking. Get together some other time and cook.

I would feel the same. I hate people in my home. Not to mention the work that goes with it.

It is hunting season. Turn the clock back to hunter gatherer. Live a little primal and get your own food for your table. That is the only thing worthy in the holiday season.

Celebrate Yule. Yule is not about food, it is about dying and being reborn.

Get two good logs. Store one for the next year, and one you will burn on December 25th. Gather some chairs around the fire, gather ONLY your father and son, grab a couple of beers, and sit around the fire, to talk and bond, for a while. If you feel like it, the Yule log is a good place to get a small barbecue, one piece of meat to each one of you, and if you go that route, make it red meat.

Celebrate the death of the current year, celebrate the death of nature, celebrate the shortness of human life, and celebrate the blood ties that link the three generations around that log, that are now going into the Yggdrasil in order to be reborn again.

Yule was not made to be shared with women, anyway. Yule was not made to share trinkets, nor gifts. You do not give gifts or trinkets to the dead, do you?

Anyway, a great Yule to everyone. I love you all, cheeky bastards. Who would I be, without each and everyone of you? No one.

"Young was I once, I walked alone, and bewildered seemed in the way; then I found me another and rich I thought me, for man is the joy of man." Odin, Hàvamàl, stanza 47.
