My father was a Partner at Deloitte and Touche in charge of audit for various offices & then forensic accountancy from 1980 until he retired a few years ago-doesn’t make me an expert Chartered accountant.

Anyway whatever you think you know you must not say.

I bet a plumber or builder would do great in the masons

In masonry everyone is on the level.

Anyway enough there may be cowans around.

As with all organisations the lower members no very little and entered apprentice won’t know much compared to a worshipful master of the local lodge whomself knows only so much iut’s called compartmentalisation.

If you were asked to join then someone did something wrong.

Exactly. You must ask and then it goes from there.

I have absolutely NO desire to be underneath ANYONE. I know, I know, it’s only fair that you start as a pee-on in ANY organization, but I couldn’t do it. I’ve always ran my own business and have never taken orders from anybody. I don’t see that ever changing. So me joining anything with a hierarchical structure is a big no-go.

    Black Belt.

I’m sorry, I couldn’t resist. I know nothing about Freemasonry and would not try to belittle it.

The evil in women’s hearts leaves them no moral bounds as to inhibit them from descending to the lowest levels of darkness to acquire their self entitled desires.

    True.

The ‘Master’ is only 3rd degree. He knows nothing of the true nature and purpose of freemasonry.

He thinks that he’s a big shot (and so do the public, who know little or nothing of the higher degrees), but in reality he is nothing of the sort.

I’ve got family in Freemasonry, multiple generations.

I’ve thought about joining over the years. Read “Morals and Dogma” by Albert Pike. It was a most illuminating read. This book contains the essentials of Freemasonry. I’ve chosen a different path, but I respect the old Alchemists. The pure light of intellect is the only Power worth pursuing in this world.

I find the Great Architect is something we can all agree on. Religions from all around the world, they all converge on one universal principle.

Well I don’t like media city for obvious reasons.

I always find salford quaqs has a funny heavy vibe-maybe its because of all the history hen it was docks.

I bet the soft southern luvvies who move up here with eeh BBC would get a shock if they wandered out of the quays into weaste or ordsall.

I call it Media S~~~ty. I can’t stand how hyped it is when it’s just a bunch of new buildings, bridges and a Pret a Manger. The Dockyard bar has a s~~~ atmosphere and is full of c~~~s. I also cannot stand all the BBC/media freaks that get in my way when I’m shopping for lunch, I am a southerner myself but I’ve got a hefty chip on my shoulder when it comes to luvvies. I viewed a flat in Ordsall, to buy – f~~~ing hell even I wouldn’t want to live round there and I’ve lived in some dodgy places.

Yeah I remember being at school going on a tour when Salford quays was being built, to look at urban regeneration.

Back them some of the quays were several feet deep in rubbish and sludge on the top of the water.

I thought it was wrong when they removed the blue cranes a few eras ago-they should have been kept as a reminder of what the place was.(the manchester docks -due to the ship canal)

As you are a southener you probably odn’t know why we don’t like liverpool-its because they taxed the hell out of us bringing in cotton through the port of liverpool so we dug a 45 mile long 60 foot deep [ canal with shovels.

You see back then 75% of the world’s cotton products were made in the mills in Mnachester.

Well if you ever want to move closer to where you work flats in the quays are expensive and badly built.

If you have a lot of money then look at Worsley you be reliant on car in Worsley though no tram.

Monton (like a little village/town sketch) on the Edge of Eccles.
    Don’t go near Eccles itself.

Sale is always a good choice ( i lived there for 10 years) in the car yo could go through trafford park to get to the quays. Plus metro.

Is often the case but certain new developments are of good quality. MediaCity is good for renting out. But I will likely look somewhere more central, rent it out and live outside of MCR myself. Each move takes me closer towards a cabin in the woods.

I am also a Freemason and Master of my Lodge. I hold the 32 degree in Scottish rite. Soli2DE, I agree with you brother, it is a wonderful organization and a first class fraternity. So lets cut out all the bulls~~~ about illuminatie and I’ll tell guys as much as I can.
    1. To belong you must be a man, in most jurisdictions at least 19 years old. What church or religious tradition you belong to is irrelevant, but you must declare your belief in God. We don’t want anyone who has drug or alcohol addictions and no one who has been convicted of a felony.
    2. The process of becoming a master mason requires three ceremonies know as degrees. Following these ceremonies the candidate is taught what happened and it must be memorized and examined. Many candidates fall by the wayside with this. When the memory work is completed the candidate passes to the next degree. Upon completion of the third or master mason degree the candidate is a full voting member of the lodge.
    3. Like any organization there are operating expenses and annual dues are required. Unfortunately many members lose interest in it and fail to pay their dues. Average dues costs are about a $ 100 a year.
    4. Once a man has become a master mason their are other related organizations he can join. Scottish Rite, York Rite, Shriners, Eastern Star.
    5. We do all kinds of community service and charities, the largest of which is the Shriners Hospitals for handicapped and burned children. All jurisdictions operate Masonic Homes for elderly members and widows to spend their last years in comfort. A member is taken to his grave with a touching ceremony of final goodbyes.
    6. It’s a strong lifelong fraternity, that’s works for each other and protects each other. As well as widows and orphans.
Yes, I’m proud to be a mason. Now that I’m alone it provides me with a social life without the risk of dating and marriage. I would highly recommend it to any man who meets the requirments.

It sounds like a great org except for it being a Christian thing. You may say “believe in god” all you want but I’ve seen images of the cross on some Masonic Lodges.

I am not an atheist but I don’t want to worship at a lodge.

Are you guys familiar with the higher levels and their knowledge of the Masonic machinations?

I hope it’s not like the inside scoop on Scientology:

This is what they truly believe.

    Run time 26 seconds.

Thank you Swimcat. I would ask, what are the best things about being a Mason, for you? List as many things as you want. Also, have you experienced the typical cliques within your lodge/other lodges, or are people generally very open-minded and non-exclusive? I also detest the usual social games people play.

I am too much of an individual thinker and introvert to get along with the average person, but I do think if around other decent, honourable men I would feel at home.
