Do none of them realize prices are based off minimum wage so even if they make it $15 compared to 7.50 in some areas itll cause the dollar to lose value. Also they cant even get a plain sandwich right half the time at most places.

And for your information Phoenix, I have 16 years of working history starting off volunteering at a church, doing home renovations at my stepfather’s private contracting business (painting, removing carpet, breaking up old tile, shoveling heavy stones into a bucket, mowing client’s lawns and removing furniture) and I took a few online courses on customer service so I can get a job at my local Best Buy, which I did as a sales consultant in their home theater section. Those jobs up until Best Buy sucked, but I did them, I grateful to have them and I’m not ashamed to of done those grimy jobs. Still to this day, thank my mother and stepfather for getting me my first pay job with the 1 year experience I had with the church. So the next time you want to call someone a lazy fish fry dork who needs to get a real job, I think you need to do your homework on people first before you lay out your assumptions you ignorant fool! Those WERE real jobs! What are you doing in this economy that makes you such a big guy?! HUH?!
And for your information, that computer I built and sold is not “crappy” as you ignorantly put it. The guy who bought it even left a positive feedback: “Looks and runs greeat — arrived very quickly. Recommended Seller.” Wasn’t crappy to him. Sure I didn’t get the money I could of gotten for it, but it did get sold, and the real pleasure was building it, because I enjoy building things as my hobby: computers, bikes, home theater equipment. It was more a labor of love on that “crappy” computer.
So to conclude, the next you want to spout s~~~ to or about someone, make sure you know enough information about that person, because I just proved what an ignorant f~~~ you really are!

I can’t blame these people to want more for their work. Here in Germany they have to work very hard and on a very high stress level.
Working at a place like this would be hell for most of us, where our qualifications would not count and we would be bitched at by all kinds of unfriendly entitled customers.
I always treat staff with respect and show them that their effort is appreciated. And when they do something wrong in the heat of the fight, I always comfort them and tell them that I also worked in public business.
For 15 bucks an hour, I admire what they are doing. I guess they come home totally exhausted and regret that they haven’t finished their education. And some of these workers are actually very qualified people that have gotten thrown off the track by things like divorce, sickness, accidents or family emergencies.
Or they are real refugees that had to leave their home or get killed. Like my parents went over the East-to-West Berlin border to flea from the Stasi. And they also started out small. Their first jobs “were not that great” and they would have gotten sick if they had not found something in their original qualifications.
But the fast food chains?
Seeing the amount of money they charge for a worthless burger and a worthless soda, compared with the amount of customers they serve during the day… (I can calculate) these companies should be able to pay 15 bucks for a job close to hell. When they automate their systems it is just to raise profits and because they hardly get people to work in this environment. People drop out by getting sick from grease fumes, constant high levels of noise and psychological damage, because some customers use them as emotional punching b~~~~.
What they should start to think about is the astronomic amount of money they pay to their CEO’s and leading staff. Easy to see that the worker on the front, eating the dirt, getting paid close to nothing gets hatred when he hears that his boss is drowned in millions. Per year that is…
I was an employer myself and my techncian had about 20 Euros per hour but the German state took a great percentage from it and I had to put 30 percent on top… And I managed to pull him through. But we did “single piece artwork” that wouldn’t flow like fast food does. If I could have used him as a seller of burgers at the rate these fast food chains sell, I would have become a millionaire in a few years.
I once volunteered for a 2 day job at a food booth at our local festival and I saw the money pile up and I saw how little the materials to make the snacks had actually cost… And I did manufacture the food while I was selling it. (Washing hands in between was the only uncomfortable thing)…
If that booth had been my full business, I would have walked away with a couple of hundred Euros of net revenue PER DAY. No problem.
I made an average of 400 to 500 Euros per day with my electronics shop, with sometimes hard, dangerous and dirty labor and then I had to pay the running cost and the rent for my poisoned place… I sometimes wished I had a luncheonette at the right spot…
Wow, making burgers without 2 year warranty and endless phone support… Going home at night without technical worries on my mind.
And tell you what: I got to see the private mansions/houses and expensive cars some of the owners of such places had…
MacPuke and BurgerPuke will not go out of business just by paying fair wages.
Serving 100 customers per day for one person is no stress at all. That is just one every 5 minutes in an 8 hour shift. Not the queue you normally see. Each one leaves 6-8 Euros on the table… And the food costs only fractions of it if bought in high volumes.
See how many customers a fast food joint serves per day? And most of them leave 10 to 13 Euro at the counter. No wonder they got so big.

Just joking: My crappy car does 230 and accelerates and goes though curves on Bilstein suspension system also like a sports car…
And my computer here (one of over 15 boys) is built from old but high end components. Kingston Gamer RAM’s, ASUS Pro board, DVB-S2 HDTV satellite receiver, 2 graphics adapters one Radeon HD 5670 and one HD 7750, USB 3.0 and an old Q 9550 Quad Core. A 2nd HDD in ICY Dock LCD Rack, high quality card reader and 4 DVD drives, each with it’s own audio ripping qualities. Super silent with 7 slow fans to cool it all. You hardly hear it running.
All in a 2006 Cooler Master Centurion 543 case.
OC’d to only 4 x 3.00 GHZ / because 110 watts idle Power use, that is reference for what it can do (4 displays in high frame rate)
All components built before the age the industry would start to make “smart” technology that spies on you. My next crappy computer will have 3 graphics adapters and be used as a trading platform with 6 displays.

If we are truly going our own way, why do we care about the labor costs of a vast corporation to deliver a product that no sensible person would consume? If every fast food franchise in town were to dematerialize overnight, it wouldn’t change my masculine interests or prerogatives at all. Unless of course there’s something I’m missing. By the same token, I don’t see how a $15 wage for fast food workers would affect my life as an adult man either. Am I missing something?

I just have little respect for those that attack the weakest and poorest amongst us. Also, I come from a previous generation of men who did do these jobs while growing up, and they sucked. They only suck even worse now if anything.
If people want to attack someone, attack the welfare queens and the lazy entitlement takers. Or the bankers, they’re one and the same anyway. The biggest beneficiaries of social welfare aren’t those that collect those crumbs, it’s the bankers that “process” those transactions. Did you know JPM makes billions off of the SNAP program? If you didn’t you should read their financial statements, and then you’d know. It’s not like they even actually hide this stuff.

My specs actually handily have you beat. Just did a recent build last year, and it’s sort of my hobby. Only thing is modern games are such trash I have nothing to play that actually tests my hardware, but whatever. Witcher 3 was fun at least I guess.

It does affect you life though. As prices, taxes, and incomes are all affected by it. It causes inflation which would affect you.

It does affect you life though. As prices, taxes, and incomes are all affected by it. It causes inflation which would affect you.
Inflation isn’t caused by fast food workers. It’s caused by bankers.
Also NOW you’re going to cry about that? The dollar has lost 98% of its value in 50 years. If anything, pegging minimum wage to inflation, like banker salaries are, would probably set minimum wage well over $15.

If McDonald’s is going to have to pay $15 an hour, then get ready for $10 Big MACs, $6 fries, and $8 soft drinks, and a computer taking your orders and a machine doing the cooking. I’ve seen it before at a McDonald’s in my area like 10 or so years ago. A lot quit going there, so they removed the take-your-order touch screens, and people came back.

Exactly right! They’re starter wages, not meant to live off of. The thing is fast food or any other minimal wage worker just want to do the bare minimum, rather than being goal achievers, and get their big employers to owe them a living life.
I personally think it’s rather selfish to bring up a family when you’re job pays you $8 an hour, because you can’t afford that; hell it’s hard to afford just yourself. Hell, if you want to earn $15 an hour, then you need to develop a skill that’s worth $15 to someone and burger flippers aren’t worth $15 even in 15 years from now.
I really ought to tell these greedy entitled fast food protesters to be grateful for what you got, because there’s a lot of unemployed people in this country that would love to take that job over having nothing. Plus, at $15 an hour, they won’t have a job anymore to worry about, and then they will have real worries when the bills pile up. The government may say $15 minimal is required all they want, but in the end, the capitalist guy at the top of the company will have the last word with automation and lay offs. Sorry, that’s the reality of capitalism.

I built 15 of them to get somewhere in digitizing my 35000 CD’s and LP’s. These machines are not intended for gaming. But the priceline of a Forex platform will be well handled. First the first 10 units will do audio and then automated trading. The brother of this PC here is for Steinberg Cubase, Wavelab, my Vst plugin Packs and my other production software. And it will handle my internet content management system. No email on it so it is not exposed to danger from viruses.
All licenced with Kaspersky, anyway I know what emails to open and I never had a system “broken” because of a virus. My last trojan/malware was in 2009 on XP 32 bit and I killed it manually. The System still lives and that 3 x 1 TB will get a new Win 7 Ultimate in some time.4 more units will be for manual trading. 4 displays at the bed and 4 at the desk.
And all PC’s will back up each other, so if one fails during a trade, I just log in to the broker on the other one.

Increased labor cost will cause employers to use more tech.
The minimum wage was never meant to be a living wage.
They’re already doing it here in Florida. Lots of McD’s locations have digital touch screen menus that you order your food from, from which you take a table marker, and your receipt to the register where you pay an employee, and then they bring the food to you. The whole thing is a clusterf~~~. That’s why I stopped going. I hate that s~~~ as much as I hate checking myself out at Lowe’s, Home Depot, and Walmart. Fking bulls~~~.
That said, while I disagree with the notion of them making $15, I’m not going to begrudge them for protesting for more money. Unions do it all the time. The reason I won’t begrudge them is because wages are NEGOTIATED, at the time of hiring. The company says “this is what the job pays” and the employee says “I’ll take it”, or “no thanks”. So if a person is unhappy with their pay, they can either quit their job and find a new one that pays more, or they can go to their boss, plead their case, and the boss can make the decision to give them a raise or not. That’s how it works. Whether these independent franchises with a 30% profitability window will agree to those requests remains to be seen. But I doubt it. It’s just not economically feasible for them.
Hell, I only made $10.25 an hour when I was doing highly-skilled assembly work (stuffing and soldering circuit boards for medical devices to IPC- and MIL- specs.); $14/hour doing field service on medical devices; $8/hr working in a hotrod shop when things were slow with my old business; $0.00 (or even a loss) on some jobs that I took when I had my business — took them because I wanted exposure for my business; etc. Now, I’m sure that flipping burgers isn’t the most fun job on the planet — but it’s not skilled work (at least not at a fast-food joint).
