I think everything is up to individual interpretation. It shows you why most Muslims are peace loving people.

Permit me to say Gambit I have never doubted that Islam is peace loving.

I believe I understand that Jihad is ones fight to maintain their faith as opposed to being some sort of global war.

The terrorists use Islam as their front or completely misinterpret the Quran for their own gains.

Interesting Gambit, it’s why every single Muslim I’ve ever known was not a terrorist. Once, one from Qatar got a little disturbed over our drinking alcohol, but I know certain Southern Baptists who will pitch a fit too.

I think that a lot of the negative things Westerners associate with Islam are actually cultural aspects of certain Islamic regions. I believe I’ve stated this before somewhere.

Gambit if you wish for Islam to be seen as peaceful, you need to reign in the fanatics of that religion.

For Christianity, this required several major wars over the course of hundreds of years, but this was done.

RAPISTS are rapists, same as burglars commit burglary.

Violent people commit violence. Terrorists commit terror, using religion as a cover for personal failure, or a poor failing society. A religion that uses the same book for both opposite strands of faith as Sufism and Wahhabism cannot be culpable for the crimes of a few morons who take the latter too far.

As I said in your earlier thread, the people fighting in the streets right now against ISIS are devout Muslims, just as most victims of ISIS are also devout Muslims.

As a neo-pagan-leaning agnostic, I’m not particularly enthusiastic towards Christianity (google: burning times) but I’d observe that from written sources, Mohammed killed more people than Jesus.

I think the point being that throughout history, almost every religion has had religious wars. That doesn’t make the religion itself violent. Religion is sometimes used as a dividing line, an “us vs. them” thing to get us to kill each other.

Seems like in today’s America someone is trying to make that divider Democrat vs. Republican. From where I sit, it looks like they’re doing a pretty damn good job.
