It has has been about a year and half since I have cut out all news/media from my life, including cable. Facebook has been a little longer. I cant explain how awesome it feels. I use to keep up with news of the world by Yahoo or the local news. I had to cut it from my life due to the disturbing and meaningless crap they feed us. Being a huge sports fan I now can no longer keep up with sports news like ESPN either, I just watch my teams play and leave it at that. I literally don’t keep up with what is going on in the world and don’t care too. Wanted to see if any of you are doing the same and would like you to share. Thank you.

I am right there with you brother. No Facebook, no television. This the only site I visit on a regular basis. When I return to improving my language skills, I’ll probably return to Lang8 so I can practice my Japanese with natives. That’s about my only media usage. Related to this topic, I’ve also made the decision to not let my self over indulge in passive art forms such as listening to music or playing games or reading a book. These things require taking in other peoples thoughts and feelings. We can think critically when doing these things but to achieve balance we must also do things to practice our intellect/thought process. For example, I play music as well as listen, so instead of just passively taking in another person’s thoughts or feelings, I express and explore my own. In case I’m not making g sense I’ll summarize what I’m trying to say. Avoiding media is good, but we must also practice our ability to think for ourselves rather than just avoid one of the ways society tries to engineer our thoughts.

I haven’t had cable television or watched current programming for years and I don’t bother with mainstream news of any sort. I’ve trimmed my social media use steadily over the past year to the point where I’m no longer using any sites like Facebook, Pinterest or the like.

I do follow this site and check in on Failblog now and then… that’s about it,

I don’t miss it at all.

Great call. I have 1 alternate media (a blog) that I follow. Other than that I avoid any click bait yahoo or msnbc feeds.

I was a big fan of Google news but it’s all a joke. Just recently I saw some about a Russian plane going down. Just presumed it was some pre-war fear mongering crap.

Haven’t seen TV in over a decade now. Was a fan of Mad Men but watched that online.

Cable TV is too annoying. All the ads, sound bites, I get a headache when I have to listen to the s~~~ at Barber Shop or dentists office or some family friends parties. These people actually discuss politics based on what they read on tv/news. Lolz

The mainstream media is made for women and from women’s perspective. We will find nothing but feminist/feminist leaning propaganda there.

not all media is created equal. and it’s great news for inquisitive minds.

TV/cable or FM radio is a complete waste – I agree. But the Internets of things allow you to be very selective in what you consume, and I take advantage of that every day. Completely ignoring things is not very productive. It’s like being proud of not wanting to know. IMO it’s not something to brag about
It’s like stopping listening to all music, because you hate commercial radio stations.

    Edit-

I actually think this is really important. For example without a forum like MGTOW none of us would know there were so many other men who feel the same way we do, who have had the same experiences, share them, learn from them and voice their opinion.

Its similar with the news and what is shaping our socities and culture. If you completely tune out, then you cant voice or share your opinionon issues your unaware of. Id hate to see someone who potentially sides with me on many issues not voice their opinion and become “the silent majority”. Thats how you get 10% of the population (feminists and gays) screaming the loudest and changing society.

Completely ignoring things is not very productive. It’s like being proud of not wanting to know.

Agree. Ive never used fakebook or any other social media. And its one thing if you dont want to consume MSM or crao tv, but everyone should know whats happening in the world via news. Its people who are consumed by tv who dont even know who the vice president is, about Hillarys email scandal, or any other political topic domestic or international. Those are the true “sheeple”.

You can always use a news app to scroll through the current events that your interested in and choose the source you find most trustworthy. Personally I like drudge report and breitbart. But to not even know whats going on on the world isnt good. I do agree it can p~~~ one off, especially if you feel passionate about it but completely impotent to change anything.

Being uninformed is akin to being a Minion. Such people would watch Minions and think it’s funny. I haven’t watched it yet, but I think I will be cringing in my seat, because it will remind me of modern society too much.

    Considering;
    1) most news are bad news and quite depressing, or complete rubbish
    2) there is not a darn thing I can do about the state of things, except not participating.
I actually feel better not hearing anything about it in most cases. Yes, this may very well be ignorant, but my mental well-being takes priority over most other things. For example; I have a friend with pretty much similar views as me and literally every day he calls me being so upset over one thing or another, saying “have you heard (-insert random subject of idiocy outbreak in commercial or govt media-)”, I always reply no, and he continues “but you MUST have! It’s in every newspaper, on every TV-station!” and as I almost can -hear- his tachycardia through the phone just talking about it, I must say it’s obviously healthier not knowing.

I say let society keep their migrant hysteria, their fake flus, their public crying campaigns, their constantly growing new laws and whatnot to themselves; I don’t care, I don’t want no part in it and I feel no need to be “informed”.

I no longer watch any commercial television. I used to watch occasional racing and other sporting events but have recently cut them as well. I don’t listen to commercial broadcast radio although I am involved with amateur radio and usually catch any current news stories being discussed over there.
I don’t have a smartphone or data plan. I read the printed news only on rare occasions. Not involved with any social media.

I do have library of over 2700 dvd’s (vintage sci-fi, many classic movies, concerts, select older sitcoms, documentary, foreign and travelogue) that I have collected over the past decade. When driving I still use cds for music.

well, you feel you need to be informed about the red pill and MGTOW, right? how come?
    Considering:
    1) this red pill news are very depressing,
    2) you can’t do a darn thing, except not participating.
    3) your mental well-being suffers,
    4) people are upset about it…
    catch my drift?
If we follow your logic here – maybe you should not learn anything about women, take the blue pill – and not care, It’s obviously healthier not knowing! just wanted to illustrate how you’re being a hypocrite

    Agreed.

The mainstream media is made for women and from women’s perspective. We will find nothing but feminist/feminist leaning propaganda there.

This is true. When you have been away from it for a few months and then watch a random selection, then it is all too obvious that they are hammering us with propaganda.

    1) most news are bad news and quite depressing, or complete rubbish
    2) there is not a darn thing I can do about the state of things, except not participating.

In fact, therapists who treat depression recommend cancelling newspapers and not watching TV news. It is good to eliminate all sources of bad news and everything that makes one feel helpless. These make depression worse.

Try this experiment. Record your local TV stations nightly news. Wait a couple of days and play it back. You will find it very hard to tell the old news from the current news. Thus, there is no need to watch any of it.

Full disclosure: I visit internet news sites regularly. I am very choosy as to which stories I follow in detail. Skimming the headlines is sufficient — with a few exceptions.

A friend calls the news “escapist fantasy.” He is right!

Society asks MGTOWs: Why are you not making more tax-slaves?

You guys are saying this because you haven’t yet discovered alternative news media with spot-on truthful analysis, or you’d be hooked on it the same way you’re hooked on MGTOW.com

I have used plenty of alternative media, but this is just another side of the coin; same old bad news that I cannot do jack s~~~ about, only that AM, unlike MSM, actually details a more correct picture and ask the most important question, being not “what, when, how” but “why”.
Still the question is; of what good is it to me?

Actually I did pretty much that; I spent the entire year without any form of media input, and when I just now checked some newspapers and alternative websites it was all still same old; we still have migration hysteria, the discussion about saving in metals, unemployment worries, more big brother madness in the global police state, person X going out public saying person Y is an asshole because he/she did or said something X did not approve of, same bickering and conspiracies another day in short.

Now and again I end up in a hotel bar. Sometimes they have a tv.

Mostly they play the news ….. sometimes sports.

No matter where I am in the world …. western news is ….. …. …. jaw droppingly … unspeak … or men bad women and children good.

“3 people died in a house fire …. a mother and her 4 month baby were overcome by smoke. The fire was started deliberately. Police and fire services are investigating. A male was also found.”

I see that all the time. Women and children together and the ‘male’ not father …. separate by sentences.

It was said by another mgtow here that ….

Tv and cable, mass media is like having a sewer pipe directly connected through your living room window.

    I agree.

What are you talking about? We can do something, go our own way. Bitches are crazy = limit involvement with bitches. I guess the same can be said of the news, but it is impossible to know who to trust. How do you know how to respond to the news when you can’t even be certain of how reliable their information is?

Maybe it’s just me. But I get incredible kicks from piecing the puzzle together and figuring out what really goes on.
It’s not at all depressing – it is incredibly empowering.
Once you realize how reality is stranger than fiction – you can’t go back to ignorance.

P.S. I agree with everything that was said about mainstream media, radio, TV and internet.
But don’t give up. The truth is out there.

@russky you are entitled to your opinion. I’m not here to tell people that they are akin to being a Minion or anything negative in anyway shape or form. But I did stop listening to the radio and went to Pandora radio and guess what its commercial free. Im here to support and give advice.

But thank you brothers. Its just a personal preference to not watch the news. I obviously still use this website to interact with people. I use to be completely into listening to the news and listening to conservative talk radio to only find myself really p~~~ed of with what was going on. Not to mention I would vent to family and friends about the problems that I had nothing to do witht. I still now who is running my country and what the weather is going to be the next day. No way am I completely happy to say that I dont listen pay attention to it, I just find myself more productive and happier without it.
