There is no evidence that they even existed, same as Jesus. And the documentary you speak of is not where those stories originated. I think the points for the subject of the thread have been extensively made and I see no reason not to let you two go at it in the spirit of mutual respect and brotherhood… at least I hope so.

Christianity at its core is Judaic. Take away the pagan elements and influences and it will be as close to its founders as it can get.

But there’s also a dilemma into doing so. By removing pagan influences you’re also challenging the intellectual authority that many Christian theologians borrowed from pagan intellectuals from the Greek and Roman era.

It wasn’t just the cultural aspect the Christians heavily borrowed and implemented but also the academia as well.

It wasn’t a smooth transition either. Both of these religion of peace, Islam and Christianity, had occupants convert by the sword because before Christianity spread into Europe there were already great civilizations built with their own uniqueness so why the need to submit to some desert-cult god? That’s why many resisted and so a clever way of reducing the bloodshed was just to merge it with the Greek and Roman world.

I agree, Joe. Unfortunately it isn’t religion that keeps men divided, it’s the rulers of this world. The powers that be cannot afford to face a tightly knit world populace of brothers and sisters insisting on common agendas that’d make this world better, it wouldn’t be good for business, so they promote confusion and hate by playing favorites and muddying the waters with half-truths and propaganda.
Every day I see Muslims get along or help Christians and Christians get along or help Jews and Jews get along or help Atheists and so on, every single day.
What’s the missing ingredient when I see them get along? Propaganda and government interference.
Men really can get along, in spite of whatever they call their God. It simply isn’t in the best interests of those who presently rule over us.

The three Abrahamic Religions got along pretty well in the Holy Land before Zionism, so yes, I agree completely. Governments play the biggest role in the dysfunction, but it is the fools on the ground who do the dirty work, on all sides.

Yes and no. During the pagan era wars were not mainly fought over religion because all of the gods were relativistic, but with the introduction of Abrahamic religions with their universality and totalitarian basis then of course there will be continuous fighting over the scriptures of their book.

The rulers of this world merely used religion as a cover up but even without religion there will always be another way to stir s~~~ up.

The pagans have taken Christianity out of Christmas and I agree with Father O’Donnell, we who see Christmas from a religious point of view have the right to have a feast celebrating the Birth of Jesus and “Nativity” describes just that without pagan connotations.
