Here’s a sick twist:
What if he gets the egg of a hot woman and the sperm of a hot and smart man, unrelated to himself. Raises a daughter and teaches her to become the perfect wife then at age 17 and 11 months disavows her and she stops being his legal daughter. Then, one month later, when she is 18 he marries her(religious wedding only, no legal contract). It would not be incest, since she is not his biological daughter, nor is she his legal daughter anymore. I personally wouldn’t do this but I know a couple of guys who would be very tempted.

Sounds like both of my sons may have better options in the future if they want to have any sons themselves.

We are still a long way from a real artificial womb.
All that is currently possible is oxygenation of the blood.
For a truly artificial womb you would need to be able to provide sustenance as well as a membrane a placenta could attach to and grow from.

– If the child isn’t going to be genetically tied to you, sterilization will be quite common.
– I think marriage will become rare. If marriage is not required to raise a child, why marry.
– I can see the state using it as justification for taking more control over childcare. They may even require the licensing to allow the state to dictate many child care decisions and revoke custody at a lower standard than normal.
– I would not be surprised to see extended womb time. since the bag system won’t have the same limitations as a human woman, I can see where a child may remain in the womb for a couple years and come out ready for kindergarten. Buyer’s will desire skipping the baby and toddler years plus the improved nutrition over that time.
– And yes, I can see where incest like situations come into play. A child can be groomed to become a companion/lover when they come of age. Parents may buy their 8 year old a child that could become such an 18 year old companion when he is 26, for example
– I can see the reemerging of clans. A well off family can design/engineer their artificial offspring to keep everything in the family and grow wealth without any outside ‘contamination’
– When gender choice becomes an option, then people will start choices males over females.

As far as morality goes, I’m not feeling a big problem with it. As long as they are given the same rights as everyone else.

Ok. Then do it.
