I don’t have so much faith in men or women, but some.
Faith and trust are formed by the socialization process we all go through, but the structure built upon this foundation is a direct result of those people we have faith in and trust.
Not a gender in totality, but a person or group of people. Most are male, but there are some females in everyone’s life that have helped form our respective foundations.
There are many female members of the medical community that I have trusted with my life and have not been let down yet. The position as opposed to the person.

Which god are you guys arguing about here? It is never made clear…
It’s a valid question but the news story from the link in the OP gives one the impression that it is most likely the Christian God who the church says killed the kid.
The couple are members of the Followers of Christ Church, which embraces faith healing.

My favorite thing about atheists is the fact that Satan has pulled one of his oldest tricks. He has convinced them that he does not exist.
Last I checked man has made thousands of gods, yet there is no evidence that a god has ever made a single man.
Satisfied, the Flying Spaghetti Monster overindulged in beer from the beer volcano and woke up hungover.[22] Between drunken nights and clumsy afternoons, the Flying Spaghetti Monster produced seas and land (for a second time, accidentally, because he forgot that he created it the day before) along with Heaven and a “midgit”,[23] which he named Man.[24] Man and an equally short woman lived happily in the Olive Garden of Eden for some time until the Flying Spaghetti Monster caused a global flood in a cooking accident.[19]

Well there it is in black and white! It’s written for everyone to see. What more evidence could you possibly need? It’s the exact same amount of evidence that the Christians have and it works okay for them.
What the f~~~ is your problem???

Someone mentioned on another thread that Satan was the “great deceiver” suggesting that that could be a reason for Atheism.
I guess Satan’s scheme was to make religion sound so profoundly ridiculous and absurd that anyone choosing to examine it by engaging just a tiny shred of logic or rationality would immediately reject it outright as being complete and absolute horses~~~.
Satan certainly is a clever f~~~er, I’ll give you that…

Thank you! Seems we have found some common ground on that topic. Good point about the flying spaghetti monster. The book is satire, but I understand where you are coming from. I was an agnostic theist for a long time.
Satan has never really been a significant problem in the history of this planet and has yet to play any tricks on anyone. Man on the other hand….
Everyday above ground is a good one. Everyday above ground while single...better still.

Well it could even maybe be that Satan wrote the Christian Bible! It’s reading that Bible that turned many of us into Atheists. What a sneaky and devious little f~~~er he is… 😡

I’m suppose to have a ‘warm’ reaction for a pair of retarded f~~~s who killed their own child because their bulls~~~ beliefs!?!
If you are pro-abortion, there is nothing wrong with killing your child.
If you are pro-life, then these parents have a false religious belief which asserts that traditional medicine is a sin.
Remember Autolite, the Catholic Church established hospitals in Western Civilization. That is why so many hospitals up until the late twentieth century where owned by Catholic Nuns.
Ignorance history is no excuse.

Remember,
If there is no God, then there is no good or evil. Everything just is…. The aforementioned statement is a common assertion of many New Atheists. Therefore, your moral condemnations have no foundation in objective reality. As Mother Theresa said,
If you can convince a mother to kill her own child in the womb, how can you convince others NOT to kill one another.

You are quite correct that everything just is. Good/evil are just descriptions we use to rate our own moral judgments.
Moral condemnations certainly can be made. certain concepts of morality are universal to some degree regardless and are made by almost everyone the world over whether they believe in a god or not. Most people agree killing their sister because she didn’t flush the toilet is a bad thing maybe even evil. God is completely unnecessary to have a moral framework. And the Christian God, Yahweh and Allah are certainly not “the” moral arbiters of this universe. Just labels we put on these collections of allegories and stories many people use as their moral compass. If one has read the Bible I suspect it would be pretty tough to use the old testament God as an arbiter of morality.
I’m certainly no theologian or expert in moral reasoning though. I’m not even sure I’m using the word arbiter right.Everyday above ground is a good one. Everyday above ground while single...better still.

Nonsense. What are you defining as a child. If I don’t think the human nervous system has enough wiring to form a conciousness at 6 weeks that is quite different than killing your one year old.
Note I am saying this as someone who finds abortion a bit gross. I never wanted children but my wife and I chose to have them, they were planned. If after getting pregnant she had wanted an abortion I would have fought her tooth and nail on that. Nevertheless I seem to be arguing the pro abortion, anti religion stance. Go figure. I think I might have jumped into the deep end on this subject. Back to movies for me.

Plenty of people in India saved their lives by leaving Mother Theresa’s ministrations of water and prayer and going to the hospital down the road and others died in her care who could have been saved if they had gone to the hospital down the road. Don’t look into history too deeply.
Nevertheless she was an image and force for “good” overall. In the end she was pro birth control.

You don’t need religion to know that medical care is a ‘good thing’. That should be a no-brainer. Secular Communist States also have doctors and hospitals but we don’t attribute those to Atheism now do we?
Remember goodkid43 that it was bulls~~~ religious belief that killed the infant kid who is the subject of this thread. There is no possible spin anyone can provide that would justify what happened.
Your bulls~~~ religion got an innocent little kid killed and it’s parents on trial for murder. It just doesn’t get any more sick and twisted than that.
God is completely unnecessary to have a moral framework.
We already know this from studying animals in the wild. Monkeys figured out that the survival of the entire group improves when you don’t go around killing everyone else in the same group.

The problem here is that your using facts and logic as a counter argument against someone who has already rejected reality. It took me many years to realize this but facts and logic are useless against an irrational belief if the person holding that irrational belief wants to believe it bad enough.
The best case scenario is that you might convince a lurker who is sitting on the fence reference religious belief. Good luck…
