    BlackJacque,
I have had a ringside seat to at least a dozen alcoholics with alcoholism as bad or worse than yours. I have seen a few die from it. It is a progressive condition and it will ultimately result in death, insanity or recovery. But I have also seen at least several dozen recover from it in AA. I have witnessed many, many more recovering there. It is occurring continuously as I write this and will be continuing as you read it. As has been pointed out above, it’s free, it’s available in almost any city in the Western Hemisphere (first number in the phone book) and is populated by people very similar to yourself who have overcome the exact same problem that you are reporting.

In fact, I have heard many recovered alcoholics say that it takes an alcoholic to really understand an alcoholic well enough to be of any help to them. Fortunately for you, alcohol has been around for a very long time. It has been around so long, and has been causing so many people the same problem that it is now causing you, that there is now a very long list of people all over the place who have been where you are and recover from it. They can help you, and they will. You can recover from this, and you will. They have helped many others before you. They will do it for free.

And someday, when you have recovered as they have, you will have the opportunity to help someone in a similar place as the one you are in now. And you will step up and help them because you and others like you will be the only ones who can.

You have recognized and acknowledged the problem. These are usually the biggest obstacles to recovering and you are already past them. The solution is more than you can provide to yourself, but the people who can provide it to you are easy to find, and happy to do it…

Look, it's not my fault that tornado dropped a house on your sister. Now get back on your broom and get your ass out of here... and take your monkeys with you

BJS, Dont leave! As many others have said yes we all make mistakes and you owned yours. You owned yours like a boss too. To make a public apology is really big and to tell us about your problems. We love having you around man. You shouldnt quit because of a silly mistake. Im sure oldschool wouldnt want you to leave.
