Embrace the dark side, do your work well. I love being the villain sometimes. Machiavellian politics are not my thing but the advice to read the 48 laws of power is good for the office.
Think clearly about what you have to do for your work and do not get baited into confrontations at work or reacting to what people say. Who cares how women are looking at you and are you reading anything into their looks.
Try to anticipate what people will say or do to you and have your villain responses prepared:) Don’t react. When you do your work well, own it internally. How others react to it is not your concern. How others react to your work is not your concern (at least don’t show what you think of their reactions but do be aware of them).
Also figure out what you would like to be different for yourself at work, verbalize it to yourself and be specific, and then at some point you will need to verbalize to your colleagues what you want to change.
You need to get along at work but you don’t need everyone to like you. Unless you have someone overtly harassing you it is beneath you to worry about possibilities.You are there to make money. Start goal setting and planning, especially if you think you might leave your current work.

Two departments i try to avoid like genital warts in any organisation is Admin and HR. They’re usually full of c~~~s who waste their time gossiping and s~~~ stirring because their job is a non-role that anyone could fill. They’re about one step up from the cleaners.
