She retired 20 years ago and has made quite a fun life for herself in retirement. The last thing she needs is some guy that she doesn’t want to have sex with following her around. I’m sure she’s been planning on how to live on half the retirement money for quite some time now. I wouldn’t be surprised if she has a little extra cash sitting in a safe deposit box somewhere a few towns over.
She could have asked for a divorce, but he probably would have wanted to try to work it out first. Old habits die hard. But seeing her f~~~ing another guy, well that’s just the “rip the band-aid off” approach to getting the divorce a little faster. The fact that it hurt him worse is just icing on the cake.

Mind you I am not his best friend. He is on the outside of one of my circles of “friends” most are aquaintences. She said she is being nice , and only wants her 1/2 of the assets from the marriage.
He postponed retirement till 62 now, but I don’t really think its about the money. I’m pretty sure he is north of 250K/yr
She is getting 1/2 the income from some apts he owns. They have 3 cars, his, hers anda spare. I guess he is selling the spare. He bought a Towne home closer to where he works. He bought a Harley for daytripping, but now is having fun with that when he is free from work.

What seems to bother him most is how he supposed too be with his daughters. Frankly, I didn’t offer any advice in that regard. I know he still loves them both very much.

My mother actually did this. She skimmed the joint current account for years.

My father found a stash of bank passbooks by accident. When he showed me, I asked what he was going to do about it. He replied ‘Nothing. It seems to make her happier’.

This was my take on his situation….
HE by working sooo much was making her a trophy wife. She wanted nothing of that and needed the intimacy of a marriage,so she went “looking for love” It was all about HER. What SHE didn’t realize was that he was working so much in order for her to have that Camelot lifestyle. Heck any couple that is involved in the professions, or small business knows that is a severe strain on any relations~~~! The link in my original post points to that as well. The failure rate is over 50%. Take heed Gentlemen…
And NO,… before you guys here reply: I DON’T CONDONE her actions concerning their marriage.

I know a few guys that age who were thrown out once the pension was due , the guy is maxed out ..
