    General Electric (GE) plans to employ 20,000 women in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) jobs by 2020 because the “male dominated” sectors are suffering from a “talent crisis for women,” the company said in a Feb. 8 announcement.

    The goal is to obtain a “50:50” gender representation for all “technical entry-level programs,” a strategy GE claims is “necessary to inject urgency into addressing ongoing gender imbalance in technical fields.”

    The announcement states that only 14% of engineers and 25% of IT professionals are women, according to the U.S. Bureau of Statistics. The company expects that a continued lack of women in such fields will affect productivity and diminish “the potential of digital and other new technologies.”

    GE’s announcement coincides with their release of a white paper entitled Engineering the Future: The Socio-Economic Case for Gender Equality.

    The paper blames the gender imbalance in STEM jobs on the “vicious cycle of expectations” in education, as well as the “lack of role models” women have in STEM industries.

    “The low percentage of women” holding STEM jobs “implies that female students are less likely to consider those sectors,” reads the paper, “and they have fewer female role models to inspire them to choose a career in tech.”

    A failure to address this, GE wrote, “is like leaving money on the table – it creates a substantial economic cost.” To rectify the situation, “companies, governments, and other organizations” must “work together to put the right system of incentives and support mechanisms in place.”

    GE’s “holistic approach” to bridging the gender gap includes expanding the pool of universities from which GE recruits talent, “with more focus on institutions that have a contemporary gender mix.” GE will also offer “benefits that foster an inclusive culture,” including parental leave and childcare.

    Simply attracting women to STEM careers is not enough, however. “Retaining and promoting female workers in a so far male-dominated field is the next step in addressing this issue,” says GE.

    Feminists say it’s just because of men and the patriarchy that women aren’t interested, but reality shows something different. How many women create/build things out of spare parts in their garage? How many tinker around with computers/tech as a child? How many women envision great projects?

    Most women don’t know what a camshaft does, few know and even fewer know about connecting rods.
    The reason they give literately no f~~~s about much in the way of anything related to machines.

    Simple just do what the goverment has done give women a proverbial leg up in every situation. This might cost GE a few billion bucks and degrade the work force but hey. Law suits suck ass better avoid them by practicing sexism. If you hire anything with a vagina you will of course achieve your goal.

    She died 25 years ago and no woman has come close to her. Simply put no woman has and likely will stand as a replacement for Grace.

    They don’t pay taxes they are already a huge economic cost. Not to mention the cost of actually getting them into these jobs. It honestly makes more sense for GE to invest in Fusion energy than this. Hell there is more sense in investing in the US nuclear industry.

    Women learn very early on, long before they get anywhere near the job market, that they can expect to monetize their sexuality. Once the learning of that takes place, it is not forgotten until they are post wall and without any further opportunity to do it. Monetizing their sexuality is by far the path of less effort to the money. Until the time comes that it is no longer an option, it is at best a distraction from the effort required for real productive work, and for the most attractive ones, a much more popular first choice.

    I’ve found a solution for GE; they need to grab their left ear in their left hand and then grab their right ear in their right hand and if they pull really hard they might get their head out of their ass long enough to see that there is nothing positive about discrimination.

    How come these women never argue for quotas in the more dangerous jobs that men tend to do? Most industrial accidents are male. We need more women in dangerous jobs.

    GE just made it to the lifetime blacklist, they don’t appear to sell directly to consumers but I will never knowingly buy from them or do business with them. And any company that does this is blacklisted from ever employing me for life. Companies need my skills more than I need them.

    If the male engineers and IT professionals vote with their feet and go work for another company or set up their own, GE will go out of business very fast.

    Good call selling your shares. I ditched Diageo shares previously for a similar reason.

    GE shareholders should be p~~~ed that their goal has become social engineering rather than maximizing shareholder value.

    Women are wired to seek security. It’s part of the reason they seek good providers, men with power and alpha males. They see security there. Building new things and entrepreneurship means risk. Something most women want to avoid.

    From where I’m at I see an enormous dusty valley full of wagons and their women waiting for their beast of burden to pull their lazy load laden wagons full of useless s~~~ over the high range we all call life!

    I’ll just leave a comment women related to work that i work with
    Ive got this new work place im in for about a year now and there is more or less 50/50 men/women…
    And boy oh boy those women open their mouths to talk about nothing at any given chance.
    They cant work 90% of the day without talking.
    Yes , i understand that you have to communicate and some fun at work is only possitive …
    But when they come to work for 8 hours, and spend like 5 hours working only ….. no wonder men companies are far ahead and capturing the market
    And manginas do the same s~~~ …. f~~~ing hate manginas …

    Pic of women working in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia reminds me of one of the first projects I ever worked on. In 1977 I did a lot of the CAD drafting work on a major desalination plant in Riyadh. Yeah, those bitches should thank men for every drop of water that they drink.

    From memory and too laazy to research at this moment for 100% verification, but as I recall:

    GE owned NBC when NBC attempted to promote how UNSAFE GM vehicles were by running a GM X-body Citation into a dual fuel tank (out board of frame) Chevy pick-up truck to cause a horrendous explosion.

    They attempted it twice and nothing happened.
    So they did it a third time and got exactly what they wanted.
    However, they used pre-spilled fuel and model rocket engines remotely ignited to light the FEAR into the wymmins and consumers that GM engineers were child killers.

    (there was an actual event where a school bus collided with such a truck that did kill children, but at such a high rate of speed and force, you be the judge on calling such event an engineered failure or inevitability due to circumstances.)

    The X-body Citation and variants had Rear Wheel ‘lock-up’ recall that were repaired with a more restrictive proportioning valve. The Chevy and GMC pick-up trucks had ALREADY been changed to inboard of frame fuel tanks years before.

    GM switched to SYLVANIA lighting products, F~~~ YOU GE and your newer commercials that make an asswipe out of a C~~~’s brother.
    Stick a curly CFL in that C~~~ and see what ideas pop out.

    Some wymmins can do similar things that men do but to impose a FAKE 50% ideal is ludicrous. All the GE CHADS will have a wonderful time. Maternity leave will make your jet engines cost even more. GE Betas will be the laughing stock of manhood and poverty.

    Meh, hire the handicap has a place but this social justice quackery is pure comedy.

    GE is a mega-corp that owns NBC and pays 0 taxes. They own a few subsidiary corporations that’ll do the meat and potatoes engineering.

    The 50-50 engineers will do the boondoggle technology that always runs over budget. They’ll just need 4 trillion more tax dollars to complete Glorias’ warp drive, cold fusion, fried ice generator.

    Because women would rather ride the coattails of men, and then plaster their name over male accomplishments.

    Just look at the entertainment industry. They just remake movies that had male lead roles and swap out the genders. Same thing with comic books. They just create female versions of classic male characters like Thor instead of creating an original female character. Their motto is “Why put in the effort to come up with something original when we can just take male creations and paint a vagina over it?”

    Because they f~~~ing can’t mate. Its not in their DNA. They were designed to stand behind a man. Let the man be a provider and a warrior and her protecting his back, doing all the misc stuff like raising kids, cooking, washing and f~~~ing. Why do you think the standard model of relationship from 1700’s- mid 1950’s worked?
