When I look at immigrants in the USA (generally speaking), they seem to be more motivated to upgrade their standard of living than the average American citizen. Although some of them end up with dead end jobs and getting government aid, a great number of them achieve their goals of owning their own businesses and making a lot of money. I’ve always wondered why they do well here whenever I read their success stories.
Example:
http://www.businessinsider.com/rags-to-riches-story-of-forever-21-cofounders-2015-5
Their personal stories are often similar: they migrated from a country where they had very few opportunities to get a job and make money. They arrived in the USA on a ship/airplane with a suitcase and a few dollars. Somehow, they found a job and a place to live without knowing how to speak English. Then they worked long hours—sometimes taking on odd jobs to make extra money. After a few years of saving up their money, they decided to go to school or rent a storefront. Ten years later, they have a successful business and plenty of money.
It seems to me that they have a lot of ambition because they had to make a lot of personal sacrifices to get here. Maybe they want to make money to send to their families. Maybe they were held back from opportunities to make money in their countries of origin—so they eagerly took advantage of any opportunity they could get in this country. Maybe they were intensely focused on their goals to the point where nothing else mattered (such as: entertainment or buying name brand clothing). I suppose they saved every penny for their education and their future business projects.
Sometimes I wonder if I can adopt that same sense of ambition and apply it to my life. I can pretend that I just got off a ship and arrived in this land of opportunity with my suitcase and my dreams. I’ll work hard, save my money, and create a better life for myself in the upcoming years.

I saw that I could put an end to your outrages by pronouncing a single word in my mind. I pronounced it. The word was ‘No.’" (Atlas Shrugged)
Because they come from s~~~tier places to be here and they work hard to improve the qualities of their lives. If their native lands were better they wouldn’t go to the incredible effort to come here, QED.
Native born Americans, by contrast, are the most privileged and pampered human beings who have ever lived. They’re already at the top. Maybe three days naked and alone in the woods would change their perspective but as it stands, American born young people have no drive to improve their lives because they’re nearly as ideal as they could be… even the poorest of us have it better than the vast majority of the rest of the world.

Anonymous42Immigrants still have this antiquated thing called families, they work “together” to strive for mutual success and complement each other with mutual savings and prosperity.
Here we (men) waste all our efforts and finances on this illusion that western women are somehow capable of having a real family, but we MGTOW are wise to this illusive western so called family, we don’t waste our lives as slaves to the marriage/court/police/divorce/government system, only the failing men subscribe to this atrocious and destructive system.
We refuse to be bound, gagged, and forcefully system raped by the fore mentioned entity, the state family and the nasty minions that facilitate it.
No problems with my success here, my family helped each other and lifted each other, we didn’t eat each other using the vicious teeth of the law and government to DEVOUR EACH OTHER.

I love my country like the condemned love Manila rope with 13 wraps in a slipknot.
1 success out of 2.066.455 asian immigrants (to U.S. in between 1981 and 1990) doesn’t prove s~~~. I’m absolutely sure, there are also immigrants who have arrived with the very same and have ended up being criminals or depending on social welfare.
you’d need to find reliable data, proving immigrants are more succesful by a statistically significant number. Everything else is unproven and unscientific.
"Him, who delights in solitude, is either a wild beast or a GOD!" - Aristotle (Aristot. Pol. 1.1253a) 1 Hom. Il. 9.63; the passage goes on: ἐστὶν ἐκεῖνος ι ὃς πολέμου ἔραται.
I can share a bit of my personal experience here, as an expat who did well.
The short answer:
In my opinion, you gave an example of extreme motivation deriving from pain, but the goals you mentioned do not require such extreme motivation and such prolonged pain.
In your case, it might be more suitable to look at examples of people who are ambitious while still being in a situation that is relatively comfortable.
Also, it might beneficial if you set a bolder and more quantifiable goal. The long answer:
It is a big decision, for a person to move away from your own country to a place where you know nobody, nobody helps you nor advises you, and even the language is a big worry. You know that it is going to be very painful for many years to adapt and to succeed. You know for sure that it beyond your own capabilities. So you do it because the pain you suffer inside from not doing it is even more massive, and also for a sense of taking responsibility, and refusing to give up.
When you are motivated by so much pain, for so long, it gives you some advantages over people who are more balanced and happier.
There are also many disadvantages to living like that: so I would not advise anyone to burn boats and bridges behind himself to do it, if one can avoid it.Having said the above about expats: it might not be relevant to you.
What you seem to have in mind (“work hard, save my money, and create a better life for myself in the upcoming years”) is doable with above-average motivation, without the need to reach motivational extremes.
Also, your goal is not expressed in a precise enough way to be achiavable: it is useful to express it in numbers so that progress can be in the forefront of your mind daily. My advice is to see whether it makes sense for you to summon the motivation to set a bolder and more numerical goal, such as that of being financially independent. I mean, that if you lose a job, the cash flows from your assets could still pay all your expenses for a lifetime.
That is very ambitious but still doable, if you are not unlucky.
Also, if one does not completely succeed at that high goal because of bad luck, still, you would have achieved a lot and would feel proud for the effort. Many immigrants have a strong family unit and community, and will bust their ass and sacrifice for their future prosperity.

Really enjoy reading your stuff SOR. You are usually bang on !!
As an immigrant I did well in the US due to my work ethic. The average American hasn’t the faintest clue what a privilege it is to be born an American. Most are spoilt, lazy and complain about almost everything. While they do this I’m cashing in.Peace is > piece.

BINGO !
Thank feminism and gynocentrism for the failing droves of men wandering a wasteland of endless destruction.
and this is the root problem with americans ..
you can work hard and acquire wealth,
then the wife divorce rapes you.
years of work down the toilet.
eventually a man just runs out of time to rebuild.
i’m getting older and see my life’s work devoured by the system.
a woman unleashed it on me,
it will not stop.
but i have a plan…
we’ll see ..
Anonymous43Some of them burned their ships at the shore as motivation.
can’t go back must go forward.
I think loss, or ‘not having’ is often the greatest motivator. The people that understand what’s not like to not have something are often the most appreciative of what they do have.
That often fits immigrants, but is not exclusive to them at all.
I think there is also an American consumerism mentality that immigrants lack. We are driven to buy things we don’t need, like a new car, while an immigrant is more then happy with a reliable used car.
Ok. Then do it.
Let’s not forget immigrants also get tax breaks Americans do not. I know around here its pretty common for them to run a small business, like a convenience store, and after a few years they sell it to some relative that recently immigrated so the tax breaks continue.
Even if part of the reason is the work ethic and motivation level of the average American…its not like its making it any easier when our own government stacks the deck against us.
They had the drive to come here, many times, learn a new language, for the opportunities. Sure, there are refugees and others that are leaches… But there are plenty of leaches born right here, in both urban and rural settings.
Before the advent of the welfare state, almost ALL of them were go-getters. They had to be. And so, America prospered (among other reasons).
Sure, a lot of immigrants want cash and won’t accept credit cards. Sometimes it’s f~~~ing hilarious. ‘I not take credit card!’ a 70 year old Japanese master seamstress yelled at me after repairing some clothing a week ago. She’s great. And fixed my coat for $4. I promptly paid her in cash, which she surely reported to pay her fair share of sales tax. She also opens up the store at the crack of dawn and is a workaholic.
BUT I’m not seeing any more tax breaks for these small immigrant businesses than for ones run by descendants of former immigrants (i.e. most of us). And I’ve known mechanics who took cash for work too — not immigrants.
A lot also relates to culture. Are Jews, Asians or Indians really innately more INTELLIGENT than Westerners? I’d say not, but rather their cultures embrace education.
Some of them burned their ships at the shore as motivation.
Quote about Cortes. From the movie Hunt for Red October. F~~~ing awesome.
They don’t have brainwashing since birth that “you deserve it” “you can have it all” “You should have this in the name of equality” “It is not your fault, it is the racist / sexist / homophobic / right / left fault”
Most of the immigrant that come here learn that “no one can save us but ourselves”. Those that still believe in the government or whatever that can save them are still in their country.
There is no magic in MGTOW, just recognition of the truth and logical decision how to avoid dangers. The red pill is but the truth, it is no magical potion. Do not think in this modern world men have no longer have natural enemies, men are prey to women and government.
Most of the immigrant that come here learn that “no one can save us but ourselves”.
Wow. That is a powerful statement.
"I saw that there comes a point, in the defeat of any man of virtue, when his own consent is needed for evil to win-and that no manner of injury done to him by others can succeed if he chooses to withhold his consent. I saw that I could put an end to your outrages by pronouncing a single word in my mind. I pronounced it. The word was ‘No.’" (Atlas Shrugged)
There are several reasons,
1. education is cheap or govt funded in third world countries,so getting a professional degree is easy in third world and using it in countries like usa/europe brings lot of money to the professional who in his country would have got a s~~~ty pay.2. the uneducated workers live together, spend money only for necessities and share expenses.
3.Expenditures like tours, parties are not in their list.
4.AFAIK most people living abroad live s~~~ty life there but their families in the home country live a rich life.
Immigrants come here to win, they team up to do so and often have a plan in advance. If you’re born here theirs no developed plan until your 20’s-30’s and by then you’re just an average nothing.
Go to school
Go to university
Boom you’re easily 22-26 years old. Spend a couple years travelling/paying off debt and you’re already 30 before you get ready to have a successful life. You should start planning at 20.I’m under the assumption that the immigrants do well because of America’s affirmative action programs that favour hispanics over whites.
We recently moved to America, and my wife (hispanic) wanted to use our home as a place (or really, a vehicle) to bring all her relatives from the third world s~~~hole where she’s from, and help them move to America. I said, no. I wanted to work for our family, and our daughter, not for anybody else. She gave me an ultimatum and I left to go back to Australia. She can work to finance those assholes.
But, it appeared fairly obvious to me that American companies need to hire people from certain ethnic groups to meet some kind of quota. An American here on the forum can confirm this?
Most of the Americans I met were certainly industrious, clever, and had a can-do attitude. It seemed those that didn’t have jobs that paid a fair wage commensurate with their skills was because corporate policy was acting against them.
Let’s talk truthfully without getting triggered. When you say “immigrant” you mean dark-skinned, even though you don’t say it. We instinctively know you don’t mean German immigrants, or French immigrants, or British immigrants, etc…
All non-white races are completely racist. Their identity is formed foremost by their race. They flock together, and only do business with their own kind. Even apartment rentals on CL say “Indians only”. Any white who only does business with whites is ostracized or directly sued or would be fired immediately, so the other races use our own system against us. We are to blame though, not the immigrants.
Go to any court in America. You see blacks and whites, and Hispanics involved with whites.
Where are the Asians? Where are the Indians and dark-skinned folks?
The Asians don’t go to court. When they get screwed, they just ignore it and move on. They know going to court is a big waste of everyone’s time.
The Indians / dark skinned folks don’t go to court. They have their own Sharia courts. You don’t even know about them, and you never will. Don’t bother trying to find them. They don’t even consider this a Western country.
When you go into a foreign supermarket, either Asian or Indian, they stare at you like you are a foreigner. It’s a weird feeling. Try it. Go there and smile and welcome them to your western country and see how f~~~ing weird you feel. you will instinctively know this is not your country. That is why we are broke.
Non-white races stick together, and they all know it. They build ghettos for themselves and pay everything in cash, taking advantage of our infrastructure without paying taxes. They smile and sell to whites, but they will NEVER buy from whites. You will NEVER see an Indian family shopping for homes with a white real estate agent. So they thrive in modern white societies.
It’s racial trade-deficit. Not politically correct, but that’s your answer.
I think a part of it has to do with having a vision of living that elusive American dream. Most of my immigrant friends however do not dream big, they got defeated or are completely un-motivated. I still have hope and that hope I do not want to give up, even if I fail.
I’ve worked too many s~~~ty jobs for Canadians who did not appreciate my hard work and ethic. Got fired once for somebody else’s f~~~ up, got laid of, recently got fired because of circumstances that are out of my control. In a way all of these events are a good thing, because you start realizing it’s not the end of the world and there are better things in life.
I’ve gotten invitation for two jobs that were going to pay 15$ and another 20$. I declined them. I want to see if I can do better. Somewhere I read that you get not what you wish for, but what you fight for. F~~~ mediocrity!
And also looking at the privileged and non motivated friends, makes me even more motivated. I know that I have more guts then them to do s~~~. I also know that I haven’t even STARTED to tap into my potential. Only right now am I thinking about really doing something great with my life.
And I don’t get what’s up with people who say that money doesn’t buy happiness. What the f~~~ does? Mediocrity sure as s~~~ doesn’t. Having many fake friends will only make you happy for awhile until you realize that they are assholes. All of them are fakebook addict degenerates. I don’t see too many poor happy hippies going around..
