Janine, played by Annie Potts, was an intelligent, believable, real character.

Annie Potts is a wonderful actress. I have enjoyed her roles. She displays just enough sass to make it interesting, without her being condescending towards others.

And Janine was one of the strongest characters in the Ghostbuster franchise. Janine was the backbone of the group.

At the beginning of the original Ghostbusters film, the business ran out of money the same night as the “slimer” call. Through out the beginning of the film it showed how Ray, Egon, and Peter, were idiots when is came to running a business. Which makes sense given they only have experience as college researchers. Ray even made this point at the beginning of the movie, after said college kicked them out.

Then, later in the movie, Janine was hired as their secretary. Though, the movie and the animated series strongly hinted that Janine took over the business side of the Ghostbusters, and she juggled the accounting books to keep the business afloat. And this makes sense. As a experienced secretary, Janine would know the basics of how to run a business.

Janine was in every way a strong woman. In the animated series and the IDW comic, she become a Ghostbuster on occasion and she stepped up when the situation call for it.

Unfortunately, writers today do not know how to write strong women like Janine. They only know how to tear down men to make women look better. That is poor writing.

It’s the only way to make the women on TV look good.

When I first saw the title of this thread, before clicking on it, that was my first thought.

Seriously. They are incapable of writing intelligent, capable, believable female characters, so they have to resort to surrounding their female characters with a sea of idiot men so they aren’t so obviously mediocre.

Took the exact words right out of my mouth.

PLUS advertisers. TV is a great big vagina with rabbit ears. You can sell women anything if you humiliate a man in the process. You can even tell them A CERTAIN BRAND OF WATER “TASTES SMARTER” and is “better tasting than any other water” and dozey broads will buy it.

Just look at how desperate they are to make Chinnifer Maniston look attractive. The ONLY way they can achieve that is to cast her next to the most geeky, fat, nerdy and un-sexy men they can possibly find.

She even kicks one in the b~~~~ for giving her a COMPLIMENT.
And that’s just to get views!!!! She even says it herself!

That’s the only way they make women look “good” — to make men look bad.

If you keep doing what you've always done... you're gonna keep getting what you always got.

The media is full of feminists.

The media is full of Jewish controllers who have been pushing feminism ever since the Fed detached gold from the dollar. Inflation from rampant printing to fund wars with no intention of wages keeping up was going to mean no longer were families going to be able to be raised on a single income. Women were going to have to work, and feminism was a great way to make them think it was their idea. Ever hear of Gloria Steinem? Maybe not…

The recent super strong push of girl power/feminism is because the Jewish choice for president is a woman.

Time to analyze things a little deeper fellas, cause most of you are seeing only what is presented, reacting to it, and not understanding what the motivating factors behind it are.

Here is a link to a thread started by Jan Sobieski on must read article he found.

    A quote from the article-

“The American economy permitted a single blue-collar job to support a family, even in urban areas, up until 1970. This was intolerable to the Anglo-Jewish elite. In the early 1970s, profits could only be increased by lowering labor costs and increasing labor productivity. Rises in technology were augmented with bringing in millions of women and immigrants (of all backgrounds) into the labor force. Only recently has it occurred to the feminist movement that when one increases the supply of an x, the price of that x will go down. The articles cited in this paper are an admission of an obvious reality 30 years too late.”

Oh, I forgot to mention. Mainstream liberal media should be dead now, with only 5-10% of the population believing the “news” is factual or reliable. The reason MSNBC, CNN and other narrative spewing 1 sided channels are kept alive is by PACKAGES the cable and satellite companies. The money you spend on cable funds them and keeps them alive, not viewership. Kill the zombie media by canceling your cable, no money is like a shot in the head.

A very astute observation, Gonzo. As Dashiell Hammett always reminded us, “Follow the money”. Most channels on cable, including all 24 hour “news” channels, rely on being packaged with more desirable channels instead of on their own merits.

One of my clients a few back was a cable company most of you in the US know and loathe. While working at their repair site, I learned some fascinating things about the cable industry.

Your cable company is a monopoly because your local government sold them those monopoly rights for a fixed period. Cable companies keep about 5 cents of every dollar they bill while the rest goes to content providers along with federal, state, and local governments. That’s right, not just the Feds and your state tax your cable bill, your city, town, or county does so too. Local governments also get free channels, broadcasting equipment, and technicians to operate/maintain it all.

Content providers into three classes; Legally Required, 800lb Gorillas, and the Piggybacks. The legally mandated channels are all your local broadcast stations. (They still broadcast over the air, you just need a digital antenna.) The Fed decided that any cable package must include local broadcast stations for civil defense, weather, Amber alerts, and other such emergencies.

The 800lb gorillas are channels like ESPN or HBO. They’re the channels over 99% of people get cable to watch. When your bill goes up, you can be sure that ESPN, HBO, and the other 800lb gorillas have raised fees they charge your cable company.

The piggybacks are all the rest. They get a small fraction of viewers and an even smaller fraction gets cable to watch them. Some are so niche they may even pay your cable system instead of the other way around.

What keeps all those piggybacks around are subscription packages and what keeps subscription packages around is federal law. That’s right, the Feds mandate package pricing as opposed ala carte pricing and they do so thanks to all the bribes – sorry campaign contributions – the piggybacks pay to federal lawmakers. You can’t simply pay for ESPN or HBO, instead you have to pay for a package that bundles those channels with a couple hundred others you’ll never watch.

    It’s corporate welfare, nothing more.

This could all change, however. Canada, of all places, recently allowed ala carte pricing on it’s cable systems and that change is being watched intently by systems in the US. If ala carte works well enough in Canada, we could see it very soon in the US.

Of course working “well” means the cable systems and 800lbs gorillas don’t lose money. A plan which includes the mandated channels plus ESPN or HBO alone should be cheaper than the current packaged bundle and that means more people should be interested in signing up. However, considering how many people – and especially young people – are migrating to other media platforms, ala carte pricing may be too late to save traditional cable.

The company I was consulting at is considered “successful” because it has lost subscribers at a slower rate than other cable companies. I also found it telling that they believed their real competitors were internet service providers and not other cable providers.

TL;DR – Kill your TV so CNN, MSNBC, Fox, and the rest will run out of money and die.

Do not date. Do not impregnate. Do not co-habitate. Above all, do not marry. Reclaim and never again surrender your personal sovereignty.
