Happened twice in the last month…

Been out on fridays night out with some friends and had a drink at the local pub. We met some chicks we knew from before. So a pub was full and there were no seats left.
One of my friend said ‘we should stand up so the ladies can sit’. I cringed so hard… I said loud and clear so everyone can hear including ‘ladies’: ‘WHY!?’

Soon enough a waitress brought a bill and a friend said: ‘ladies take away your wallets, we have it’. At this point it was boiling in my head. Again I asked loud and clear: ‘WHY?!’ Can you explain that to me? Why would I/we do that?’

Both time I didnt get a single answer…

And to make things worse… not only single ‘lady’ was attractive one bit. He was behaving like total smurf even tho I know for a fact that he also wasnt attracted to any of them. Programming much???

I was guilty of this in my marriage. The ex wife never paid for a single date/outing; from first to last. She never asked, but I knew she could not afford it when we were first dating. Once I helped her land a good paying job, with promotional advancements, her attitude changed, she longed for the carousel, got bored and left. Yet, the pattern of support had been set.

I am having dinner with a female friend tonight. She’s paying for it, because I helped her through some technical issues last weekend.

What’s in it for me? That’s how I operate these days. Personally, if one of my friends tried that white knight crap around me, he would have been very embarrassed by my blunt answer. I’d wager I’d have a much higher chance of banging one than he too.

Why is because they are programmed by their parents, society and the media to do it.

If these are your friends, you have an opportunity for positive change by opening up a dialog and saving them from themselves. . I would choose something to the effect: “I don’t pay for woman anymore, I stopped when I realized they don’t appreciate it and I was just throwing my money away”.
They might not grasp this the first time, but if you see them them as friends then when to give up on them is your call.

If I go out on a date now that won’t change and may even go to dutch on dinner. Depends on the kind of data and where it ends up. If the pupose is to woo her with the promise of undying love, marriage, etc, then yes it defeates the purpose.

He assumes he’s speaking for all men and can spread the expense of his white knight gesture to them. I would have pulled him aside and told him that I didn’t agree with that particular gesture and wouldn’t be contributing.
