Macho. I dont try and do this cause its not how it works for me but, the two names Im getting are Bill and Joe.

If the person is older, and their parents have most likely passed, then you are always safe going for a parent or grandparent as well. You can start with the mother, and if they don’t react immediately, shift to either the father or a grandparent. You just make it like you are just getting glimpses of something you don’t full understand at first, and keep it vague until you see them react to something.

If they look like a recluse or damaged goods then go with a former spouse…

“I am seeing someone close to you, reaching out to you… maybe a mother…no it’s not her.. but it is someone close to you…a father… or a grandparent…

    “OMG it is my grammy!

yes, yes they are coming closer now… it is your grandmother…

That’s pretty much how Cold Reading works in a nut-shell. There’s nothing at all ‘magical’ about it. The people who are good at it are the one’s who are the least obvious about it.

That’s why the ‘professionals’ use legal disclaimers that it’s “for entertainment purposes only”. They don’t want any legal liabilities should someone act on what they are being told.

There are tons of books on this and similar stuff. You really don’t have to look very far to figure out how it’s actually done and what’s really going on…

    Agreed.

I am not saying there are not people with a true gift, or who can sense things. I am just talking about the method that the fakes use.

    Understood.

    Im thinking of a color.
    Someone says green.

You pull a peice of paper out of your pocket that says green!!!

You have one in the other pocket that says red. One the other pocket that says blue…

When I told the kid aboult his Step Dad I had no message for him
    One wasnt sent.

I do not wish for these things.
I have no say in the matter.

The worl is full of frauds.

    I do NOT like them.

The real deal is not trying to to earna buck, or recieve attentiin.

I am now emotionaly spent from just this snall thing.

    Oh well.

    All good.

Well, it’s no longer being offered but for many years The JREF offered a one million dollar prize to anyone who could demonstrate such an ability or “gift” under test conditions.

You can’t help but be just a tad curious as to why the prize was never claimed…

Maybe “spiritual” leaders don’t know this. I’ve never heard of one turning down a cheque.

Would you have tried for the million dollar prize? All you would need to do is prove that you can do what you claim (or think) you can do.

You don’t even need to keep the money. Why not just win it and give to a charity???

I believe some people have gifts we do not understand, and I don’t think it is something they can just turn on and off, or use to perform for others. I have a mild gift myself (not in same sense as we are talking about here), that has caused me more grief than anything, and I try to ignore it.

Hell, I had a massage therapist know things about me on my first visit that she couldn’t have possible known, just by working on my hip area. Chinese practitioner can make accurate diagnosis of medical conditions based on the appearance of your tongue. WE DO NOT fully understand the world we live in and what is possible. Many things are connected that we never have imagined.

Let’s give old Sage any benefit of the doubt required here. I see no reason not to.

Sorry Old Sage if you thought I was disrespecting you. I misread the convo by not going all the way through it, and my comments are limited to the techniques used by charlatans and entertainers.

Well it’s like I’ve mentioned on other threads, these sorts of things have been examined and studied and have been shown to be no where near as ‘mysterious’ as some of us like to think or believe.

I guess whether you want to accept the rational or non-supernatural explanations or not just boils down to what you choose to believe or what you want to believe to be true.

In very many cases the logical or secular explanation will lose out if it is counter to what the individual would like or prefer to believe…

Just because we do not know the scientific answer or reason for something, doesn’t mean there is not one.
Some people are attuned to different energies etc. who knows.

Just because we do not know the scientific answer or reason for something, doesn’t mean there is not one.

Well if we use the Cold Reading thing as an example, we have a perfectly reasonable, non-supernatural explanation for what it is and how it’s done. It’s just a simple trick that many people have been doing for very many years. There’s just no reason to think that it could be anything else.

Yet many people still refuse to accept that explanation and will buy into the idea that there’s something supernatural going on. I just have a hard time understanding why that is…

I totally agree about the cold reading for show.

I moved in with my mother briefly after a motor cycle accident. I would always feel very sad and depressed when driving on a certain road. I even told my mother and sister, and my mother asked me why, and I did not know why.

Found out later that there had been a civil war battle right there and a couple of hundred men had died. Coincidence? maybe I suppose, if it was an isolated incident with me, which it wasn’t. I have no scientific explanation, and don’t need one. I know what I know.

Now you can not proove any of this.

    Coincidence?

Yes. If you change your mind and ever decide that you need a ‘scientific’ explanation, just know that there is one…
