American Civil War reenacting for many years. Been an extra in several movies as a result. Not as much as I used to, getting too old. Don’t look like a soldier any more. Golf, an old mans penance. Been doing more backpacking since I’ve been single. Bought a boat last week. I plan to do more of it.

Reading – Always had the habit as my parents were avid readers too. Constant business trips definitely added to that. I have to watch how long and often I read because I’ll put off doing things which need doing.

I read about 80/20 nonfiction to fiction. For nonfiction, I’ll come across something which intrigues me and then read on that topic until something else piques my interest. For fiction, I’m working my way through Bloom’s Western Canon while occasionally detouring into authors like Wodehouse. As with nonfiction, I tend to read an author until I’ve had my fill of them and then move on.

Canoeing, Hiking, Camping, Kayaking – I hike almost weekly. Only my work schedule can effect that. Each years I try to get in two “float trips” involving overnight camping with either canoes or kayaks, although I haven’t managed that in the last four years.

Live Theater/Music – Pretty self explanatory. I live near a state university so there are faculty concerts and guest artists every weekend while school is in session. I’ll also see the entire Metropolitan Opera schedule thanks to simulcast this fall and spring.

Wargaming – This is something I’ve done since I was a teen. A relative of mine gave me what they thought was a magazine about Gettysburg and it turned out to be a “folio” hex & chit game. While I’ve played games at conventions, I’ve never gotten into the miniature part of the hobby because I’ve never had the time to paint the figures. “Minis” gaming also narrow in scope, you only play the eras and battles you have figures for. I prefer more variety.

I used to play by mail, much like chess. Of course, email and various programs have changed that out of recognition. Still, my work schedule means I don’t play as often as I like. Fortunately, there are many solitaire games which easily fit in my luggage.

Machine Work – I used to work as a machinist in my teens and drifted into clockmaking after helping cut a gear to repair a church steeple clock. I’ve been involved in that off and on – mostly off – for the last four decades now. I’m planning on becoming more involved in retirement along with trying my hand at blacksmithing.

Do not date. Do not impregnate. Do not co-habitate. Above all, do not marry. Reclaim and never again surrender your personal sovereignty.

    Playing piano
    Video games

pretty much describes me too. I probably spend a bit of time everyday on the piano and video games, while doing my best not to forget about my fitness.

    here’s a recent video i made.

Wonder if posting on mgtow could be called a hobby.

    I have cars. 2 E30’s ’85 & 91,

Nice. What models? I love E30s, quite fond of E36s, and own an E46 myself.

85 is a 318i with an M10, sooner or later going to pull it and find something else, perhaps a KA24. I am not one of the purist people. I do not feel the need to keep the BMW all BMW. When it is finished going to make it my daily driver. the other is a 318is, with an M42, that is going to be replaced with a SR20DET, a very common swap in. Both are alpine white.
The E36 is a great platform. Right now you can get a very good one for almost no money. The thing with the E36 it si so well known you can almost look at the miles on the car and know what you need to get ready to repair.
One of these days would like to pick up an M E46. The last class before it went kind of wonky at BMW.

    1.)Weightlifting.
    2.)Mountain bike riding.
3.) Brewing (Beers, Ales, wine, mead) I am considering starting my own micro brewery as a side business.
    4.)Scuba Diving.
    5.)Underwater photography.
6.)Paddle boarding and kayaking. (Love kayaking in Cas Cay mangroves in USVA)
    7.)Camping.
8.)Playing guitar (just getting back into it) – love heavy metal and death metal.
9.) Starting to get into creative writing.
10.) Now that the house is paid, looking at purchasing a 40 foot sail boat.
    11.) Hunting and fishing.
    12.) Prepping/preparedness. (I like to be prepared)

S~~~, imagine if my marriage had worked out, I’d be looking after some screaming infant if I was lucky – more likely than not I’d be paying spousal and child support and be a cog in the wheel with all my gears stripped. There is just so much s~~~ I want to do and learn. I would like to try –

    1.) Sky diving
    2.) Learn how to weld
3.) frame and finish my basement.
    4.) Build furniture/wood working.
5.) Scuba dive off of every continent.

I’m late 30s. All friends my age are married, 2-3 kids deep, no hobbies, no dreams, in horrible shape and slaves both physically, emotionally, and financially.

I do what I want, when I want, how I want. Today I blasted death metal so loud that the floor of my house was vibrating while I brewed some mad stout. Think the ex c~~~ would have allowed that? 🍻

Hobby (and work) : physics stuff, optics, lasers, cameras and mechanics, programming, reading, learning. Drivers license still needs to be done, but I don’t know if I will like to drive.

other hobby: bike riding (a DH bike and a fast normal city & commuting bike) and taking photos with DSLR on the way, and repairing / tune up or rebuild the bikes. Just had a long holiday and made my commuting bike a lot faster. I want also be involved with video recording and editing. My bikes altogether had more miles done in last decades than some cars.

Yes, posting & reading MGTOW forum mostly before sleep or in the early morning (EU time).

Too bad I like booze too, I’m wanting to reduce that.

    – Flying. I want to get my own airplane now.
    – Martial arts. Karate is what I do, I also have some fun with HEMA (longsword and dagger).
    – STEM education. I volunteer in school initiatives. Participate in the organization of a national contest.
    – Spend time with my son. Shooting and teaching usefull stuff.

But the best of all: my job is my hobby! I do what I love for a living.

Future – I am planning to start my own company, merging all my interests. It will only be for fun, and to get enough money to buy that airplane…

Playing guitar, writing and recording original music, working out, sailing, windsurfing, hiking, reading, blogging, writing, rollerblading (yes people still do that), ice skating. Had more options when I lived in the mountains, but that’s it for the moment. It’s important to note that I have time for all that because I’m single. I could occasionally squeeze in some fun while married, but now the fun factor has gone up at least tenfold while the nagging has been completely eliminated.

For those who have only recently seen the light, jump right in and start doing the things you’ve always wanted to, but couldn’t because of “her”.

I love death metal too. I can nail Slayer’s tone with a PRS McCarty and an Orange Tiny Terror.

McCarty and Les Paul did not like each other so I have one of each. My 58 Historic nails Jimmy Page’s tone.

Both of those guitars cost about as much as a not good enough for any entitled pumpkin’s engagement ring. I paid $3700 for both used. My entire guitar and gun collection still would not buy a good enough engagement ring.
