    From the RT news channel

    https://www.rt.com/news/424111-putin-us-strikes-syria-violation/
    https://www.rt.com/news/424120-us-strike-syria-facts/

The majority of rockets fired in Syria by the UK, US, and France were intercepted by Syrian air defense systems, the Russian Defense Ministry said. Russian air defense units were not involved in repelling the attack.

The warplanes and vessels of the US and its allies launched over 100 cruise missiles and air-surface missiles on Syrian civil and military facilities, the ministry stated.

The strikes were conducted by two US ships stationed in the Red Sea, with tactical air support from the Mediterranean and Rockwell B-1 Lancer bombers from Al-Tanf coalition airbase in Syria’s Homs province, according to the statement.

Syrian Al-Dumayr Military Airport, located 40 km north-east from Damascus, was attacked by 12 cruise missiles, the Russian MoD confirmed, adding that all missiles were intercepted by Syrian air defense systems.

To repel the attack, Damascus deployed Soviet-made surface-to-air missile systems, including S-125 (NATO reporting name: SA-3 Goa), S-200 (SA-5 Gammon), 2K12 Kub (SA-6 Gainful) and Buk.

Russia did not deploy its air defense systems located in Syria to intercept the American, British, and French missiles.

Earlier, the ministry issued a statement saying that none of the missiles launched by the US and its allies reached the Russian air defense zones that shield facilities in the port city of Tartus and Khmeimim Air Base.

Syrian air defenses were scrambled to confront the joint American-French-British intervention that started in the early hours of Saturday. The trio launched a series of strikes on Syria in retaliation for the alleged chemical attack by the Assad government in the town of Douma, 10 kilometers from Damascus, last week.

The strikes were announced before a team of investigators from the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) was scheduled to reach Douma to determine whether the attack had indeed taken place.

The US and its allies struck civil and military facilities in Syria, violating the UN Charter and international law, Russian President Vladimir Putin said, responding to the American-French-British intervention in Syria.

Washington launched “an aggression against a sovereign state which is at the forefront of the fight against terrorism,” the statement from the president said. Putin stressed that the multi-national strikes were not sanctioned by the UN Security Council, and were carried out “in violation of the UN Charter and principles of international law.”

What’s more, the current escalation of the Syrian crisis has “a devastating impact on the whole system of international relations.” Yet, history will set things straight as “it has already found Washington responsible for massacres in Yugoslavia.

By using force, Washington is only prompting a new wave of asylum-seekers from Syria and the whole region, according to the Russian leader

    Update 0900 GMT (0500 EST) 14th April

It appears this attack consisted of two waves – the first wave of about 100 missiles and a second of about 30.

Source say it was a damp squib. The ‘attack’ seems to have fizzed out after that.

    Update 1000 GMT (0600 EST) 14th April

    What did they target?

One of the strikes targeted a scientific compound in Barzeh in the vicinity of Damascus, which the coalition claimed was involved in the production of chemical and biological weapons. The Syrian government said the bombing destroyed an education center and scientific laboratories, but resulted in no casualties

Twelve cruise missiles targeted Al-Dumayr air base east of Damascus, according to the Russian military

    What weapons were used?

The UK Defense Ministry said four Royal Air Force Tornado GR4s launched Storm Shadow missiles.

The US did not specify the types of weapons deployed in the strikes, but it did use Tomahawk cruise missiles in last year’s bombing by two US ships traversing the Red Sea.

Social media & ‘classified’ intel: Pretext for the intervention

Announcing the strikes, the White House said it has a large body of “reliable intelligence” as well as “social media users, non-governmental organizations, and other open-source outlets,” which implicate the Syrian government in the alleged Douma attack

    How did the Syrians respond?

Syrian air defenses did all they could to protect the country. Ruptly footage has emerged showing Syria’s surface-to-air missiles responding to the attack. The Syrians used Soviet-made S-120, S-200 and Buk-type anti-aircraft systems, claiming to have intercepted all the missiles.

Russian military said later Syrian air defense units downed 71 out of 103 cruise missiles launched by US and its allies.

The Russian defense ministry said the Russian forces did not deploy their air defense systems stationed in Syria to intercept the American, British, and French missiles.

For its part, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Joseph Dunford said the Pentagon “specifically identified targets” to “mitigate the risk of Russian forces being involved.”

The coalition did contact their Russian counterparts to “deconflict airspace,” but did not “coordinate targets” with Moscow.

There was no chemical attack. No investigation was carried out.

The bombing of Syria is criminal.

We’re on the cusp of WW3.

Calm down guys. It is clear this is was either (1) to provoke Russia into responding and an escalation or (2) a token response as the E Ghouta terrorists had already retreated and Israel needed to be appeased.

No doubt the Russians knew the extent of the attacks and purpose.

Nothing worse than usual came out of it for Syria and Russia but the consequences for Trump / Washington may be altogether different.

We shall have to wait and see. Please continue posting any trending news at your ends.

WHY does this just seem “acted out” ?

Trump: “Hey Putin, you have to keep your Syrian Dog in line. Now, I have to act, but I don’t want to f~~~ up our s~~~”

Putin: “Yes, Yes, I will have to shorten his leash, but to deal with his latest stunts we’ll both do some international posturing, and we’ll get the usual counter reports going as well like it’s all fake news.”

Trump: ” I’ll announce that I’m going to bomb Syria, and then you handle it from your side. Let me know when your defenses are fully in place so we can coordinate the “attack”.

Putin ” Get a couple other countries involved as well that way it takes the light off it being just an aggression betweem the U.S. and Russia.

Trump; “That’s a DEAL. Let’s get this rolled out, and done. So, we can both put it to bed, and it will all be a distant memory within a week or two. Actually, I’ll probably have them stir up some “New” Stormy News by Tuesday morning so we can all move on. “

WHY does this just seem “acted out”?

Does – doesn’t it? Perhaps Trump was cornered and had to do something but he maybe found a way out.

One thing for sure – Bolton it was not. That guy is crazy.

That’s a bit dramatic, which is my point.

    Says who?

The bombing of Syria is criminal.

Ya, it’s all the U.S.’s fault – we’re raping and pillaging their land. You know, just like how oil prices DROPPED when we invaded Iraq to plummet their oil. Oh wait, the price of oil actually went up in the U.S….whooops!

These f~~~ing middle East countries can’t go a month w/out war. Their f~~~ing nuts.

And, f~~~ the U.N. It’s a f~~~ing gynocentric established s~~~/fake body of false ‘government’… They have zero skin in the game.

    F~~~ the UN.

They can f~~~ off. Let’s see them put some skin in the game.

RT is hardly an unbiased or trustworthy news source on this matter. I advise taking everything they say with a huge grain of salt.
