Thank for answering my questions Can’t Stump Trump. I need to do a lot more research on Catholicism as I am a novice in regards to religion as a whole. I was agnostic by nature never went to church and never really knew Jesus even though my parents were Christian Orthodox. My parents never practiced their faith nor went to church for that matter. I will not get into my testimony as to why I believe in Jesus right now as it will derail the discussion again. I am reading The Bible and soaking up information as I go along by myself for now I don’t belong to any specific church. The problem I am having is that every church I looked into is corrupted in some form or another. I don’t think I will ever find a denomination that will be appealing to me for this reason.
So I have to ask since you specifically hold Catholicism as the one true church how can anyone in good conscious join a church where the head of the church is no longer Christian. Even worse the corruption is so deep that it is not just the Pope that is corrupted but the majority of the hierarchy from the top down enabling all these corrupted cardinals to be elected to Pope. This is not just a modern occurrence and I get and understand this is a planned attack designed to separate the faithful from the church and move them away from salvation.
As for what you posted above I will need to do some more research before I can decide if what you wrote has merit or not and discuss it with you further. The more I read the more questions I have the worse it becomes there are so many different opinions that in the end I will have to trust in Jesus to guide me. This will not be easy especially in our modern world today I am standing at a base of a mountain that I have to climb with no rope and no top as it is so high that clouds obscure its peak with no end in sight. I can understand from a atheists perspective why they choose not to take this journey because it is easier to live life without being tested.
I will not get into my testimony as to why I believe in Jesus right now as it will derail the discussion again.
I for one would like to hear it. I don’t think that would be derailing the topic. It’s YOUR topic after all. As for me, I believe Jesus was God because the evidence is simply absolutely overwhelming. I was raised Catholic, but eventually I had to decide for myself whether I really believed the Catholic faith or not. I had a s~~~ relationship with my parents and didn’t buy any of their bulls~~~, so the fact that they were Catholic did nothing to convince me. In the end, after many years of studying and research, I came to the same conclusion that anyone who’s looked over all the evidence objectively and without bias has reached: that Christ was God, and that his Church is the Catholic Church.
So I have to ask since you specifically hold Catholicism as the one true church how can anyone in good conscious join a church where the head of the church is no longer Christian.
An excellent question. Pius IX, the same boss who wrote “The Syllabus of Errors” (highly recommended), said this to Bishop Brizen: “If a future pope teaches anything contrary to the Catholic Faith, do not follow him.” The Catholic Church has always taught as a doctrine of the ordinary and universal Magisterium (term explained in the footnote below) that if a pope intentionally teaches heresy, he automatically deposes himself. A private individual such as myself can only judge the pope’s word and actions, not his heart, so out of charity I have to leave open the possibility that the pope is just plain stupid and not malicious (highly unlikely, but Jesus warns about judging based on appearances, which means you can never know a person’s heart).
But the fact that the pope and all his predecessors since John XXIII are heretics should not have any affect on my beliefs. The teachings of the Church have never changed and CANNOT change. I live according to the teachings of the universal and eternal church, not according to the teachings of a single man who was appointed to lead the church for a limited amount of time. Jorge said, “It is not licit to convince them of your faith; proselytism is the strongest poison against the ecumenical path.” But Jesus said, “Go ye forth and baptize all nations in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.” The pope may be head of the Church, but he is only the steward of Christ, which means that when he and Christ teach opposite things, we should follow what Christ said. We’re Christians, not Bergoglians.
In the end, it doesn’t make a difference if every Catholic on the planet is corrupt. The Church is much more than its current living members. It contains also the whole body of saints. If I were the last Catholic on earth, I’d still be in good company. I can remain a Catholic in good conscious because the pope is properly speaking only the steward of the Church; the head of the Church I belong to is Christ.
As for what you posted above I will need to do some more research before I can decide if what you wrote has merit or not and discuss it with you further.
Take all the time you need. Here’s a tip that may help you get a more unbiased approach, however. Avoid those “THE CATHOLIC CHURCH IS THE CHURCH OF SATAN” type websites that so clearly have an agenda. The unprofessional formatting of those sites alone should tell you that they weren’t created by scholars or theologians. They are a classic case of the blind leading the blind. Don’t believe what you hear about the Catholic Church just because someone in the internet said it. All the teachings of the Catholic Church are extraordinarily well documented. Furthermore, don’t even necessary believe what CATHOLICS THEMSELVES say about the Church. The overwhelming majority of Catholics have no idea what their religion teaches. They get their ideas from corrupt priests in the pulpit and the heretical things Jorge says on TV and in the news. As I’ve hopefully made clear by this point, I am very familiar with the official Church documents and I know what the Church really teaches.
Footnote: The Magisterium, which is the official teaching authority of the Church, has three levels:
1. The Ordinary Magisterium: This is the regular day-to-day teachings of priests and bishops. Though we are bound to respect the authority with which the clergy speak, there is no guarantee (or in these days, even likelihood) that they will speak the truth.
2. The Ordinary and Universal Magisterium: This contains the teachings of popes, saints, and theologians throughout the history of the Church. All teachings that have received unanimous consent of the Church Fathers and Doctors are taught to be divinely inspired and therefore infallible. This is because the Church values Sacred Tradition as much as Sacred Scripture.
3. The Extraordinary Magisterium: This contains all doctrinal definitions of dogmatic councils and ex cathedra statements of the pope. All teachings of the Extraordinary Magisterium invoke the highest teaching authority the Church possesses, and therefore are infallible. These are by far the best sources of dogma, as they exist specifically for the purpose of clearing up controversial issues over which Catholics cannot agree, as I stated before. Because their intent is the clarification of dogma, the wording and explanation of the teaching is always very precise. There have been many dogmatic councils in the history of the church, and all their documents are free to read online. It’s worth noting that Vatican II was NOT a dogmatic council, as stated in the preamble to the documents. Therefore, it was NOT part of the Extraordinary Magisterium, but part of the Ordinary Magisterium, which means it could (and in fact, does) contain errors. I would not recommend reading even a single Vatican II document. Not only are there several heresies contained in them, they are also very badly written and not at all clear and precise, unlike the documents of the previous councils. This ambiguity was completely intentional, as the modernists who controlled the council wanted to state the new heretical teachings in such a confusing manner that even faithful Catholics would not fully understand what they were teaching. Truly demonic.

Hey Rhino, this is a Great thread that you started. I love the idea that we can introduce an idea as a Red Pill then express our personal point of view.
I was raised Catholic, my parents are deeply religious and I went to both elementary and high schools in the Catholic system. I always though there was something wrong eventhough I couldn’t put my finger on it. That’s called cognitive dissonance when things don’t sound right.
I have broken the brainwashing of that Cult. The only difference between a Cult and a Mainstream religion is money and the number of members that they have.
The first step to freedom is to start questioning your beliefs. Instll the belief that you are controlled by your beliefs. Some beliefs are limiting and prevent you as a person from growing. Some beliefs
Have you noticed that most religions want to instill thier beliefs into children as early as possible? This is brainwashing and child abuse. Child abuse is at the root of most religions. The Catholic Church takes this a step further by allowing thier employees to molest children then obstruct justice from having the priests go to jail for thier crimes. This is a worldwide scandal.
Religion is a scam.

Thanks for the response it is appreciated I will look into it more when I have time if anyone else has questions to further continue the discussion go for it.
Here’s a good question.
Does the Bible have any historical value?

Well, I might as well comment here since I do such a great job p~~~ing others off on other subjects:
As an avid Astronomer, the universe is my church. It is far larger and more wondrous than all the churches, temples, synagogues and mosques combined. Yeshiva/Jesus never told us to go to Church, he told us to BE the church! The original church was a gathering at a believers home that centered over the dinner table. He never mentioned religious institutions and it was the religious institution of his time and place that had him killed. Whenever humanity tries to explain the one who is beyond explanation, humanity is bound to screw things up every time. It’s like the parable of the blind men trying to explain an elephant only much worse. The one I call the Theos is many things to many people and is more than great enough for all. Organized religion and sects within are like blind men fighting each other over the differences between body parts of the elephant. The most violent major religion today is Islam and yet the Sufi and the Druze Muslims are pacifists. Unfortunately, they are often persecuted my the Religious Institution of Islam.

Anonymous1@Can’t Stump Trump, I see you have done your homework on this. Just wondered what your thoughts were on Pope John Paul I. Dead after 33 days? P2 Lodge and Licio Gelli. Looks to me like the Catholic Church had a little Coup and they lost out to the Masons. Vatican II destroyed the Church and I think I know Why…
