Rhaegar: Rhine-Meadows camps were real. But the higher range death toll was about 10,000; lower range around 3,000. Camps held ~1MM, so about 1% in the high range, 0.3% in the low range. Hardly ‘death camps’, but at the same time, the surrendered Wehrmacht were classified as disarmed enemy forces, rather the POW’s, so that they were not subject to protections afforded to POW’s. For instance, some died of exposure and dehydration because they were outside rather than in buildings. There was a logistical challenge to house 1MM people and concerns about insurgency — operation ‘werwolf’ didn’t amount to much (an insurgency planned after the invasion of Normandy) but the Allies feared it nonetheless.

The Red Cross was prohibited from visiting the camps for months.

Incidentally, the Wehrrmacht did the same thing with the Italians after Italy surrendered, with Italian POW’s going to work camps.

If you’re going to discuss Allied atrocities, the firebombing of Tokyo, killed at least 10 times as many, and that was civilians.

Sandals: No, the Vatican is not a bank, but it RUNS a bank, and it’s had, of course, a lack of transparency and lots of corruption and scandals! The gangland authorities of the Italian government recently made agreement with the gangland authorities of the Catholic Church to share information so that the Italian mobsters (government aka ‘Italian Republic’) could collect their protection money (taxes) from rich VIP’s using the Vatican bank as an offshore tax haven.

Incidentally, the Vatican Bank is officially called the ‘Institute for Works of Religion’ (IOR). That is a wonderful, 1984-ish name, sort of like the Ministry of Truth. Is investing contributions of the Faithful in businesses to realize gain, laundering money, and evading taxes a Work of Religion or a work of a corrupt entity? Where’s the balance sheet? Same place as the WMD’s of the Iraq war.

Facts:

– Nazis rounded up undesirables (not just Jews) and sent them to work camps
– Nazis wanted maximum production out of them with the least cost (money, clothing, etc.)
– Nazis were only concerned about people not dying too fast because they needed time to ship in new, healthy workers
– Millions (who cares about the exact number) of people died in this process
– Jews have used this event to market themselves as victims who deserve special treatment

By the way, I wasn’t asking that in a confrontation sense. Manor of speech doesn’t always come off when writing on message boards. It was more sincere, wanting to really know how people are going to respond to this type of stuff, like if you would change careers to go into banking to game the system, or leave for a different country, or something like that…

The problem with nature taking it’s course, for me at least, is that we have limited time on this earth. Balance may be returned 100 years from now, but I’ll be dead. I want mine now.
