I don’t buy the conspiracy theories. She screwed up by assuming the result was in the bag. The British people are election weary and saw this as blatant opportunism. The Conservative manifesto lacked vision and alienated their core supporters.
Labour meanwhile presented a positive alternative. Their manifesto was all pie in the sky but appealed to many for obvious reasons.
I also don’t think the “globalists” are desperate to keep Britain in the EU at all costs. Soros and his ilk will find a way to make money out of Brexit and having a low corporate tax haven off the shoe of the EU would help big business by sparking a race to the bottom.

I have a good reply but I just get 500 Internal Server Error every time I post it.

In the UK there are 650 positions in our democratically elected Government. To be considered a Majority Government you need to hold members of parliament for at least 326 constituencies out of the 650.
In the last election, the Conservative Party took a Majority by holding 331 seats. This is not a particularly strong position; granted it is still the Majority, but it is considered a weak position as it implies a lack of support from the population.
Theresa May erroneously believed she could call a spontaneous “snap election” and increase the Conservatives number of seats in order to show the EU a “united front” with very high support from the UK for their political position. If they could have secured more seats, even upward of 400, it would have shown the EU that the UK were serious about severing ties and hopefully ease the “divorce”. With only 331 seats held, the EU knew they could make it difficult because only a slim majority agreed with the brazen stance of the Conservatives.
The gamble failed, and the Conservatives lost 13 seats bringing their total to 318 thus also losing them the Majority required to rule the UK as the leading party. Because they hold less than 326 seats, they now rely on other parties support in order to pass legislation. They need a Majority vote on everything they do, and now they won’t have it without having to compromise.
Now we look even less united and in control to the EU than we already did. It looks like our Government are too weak to even garner the support of it’s own people.
I hope that makes more sense, and doesn’t confuse things further.

Yes thanks, I understand now. In Canada, ‘barely’ a majority means the government can do whatever it likes. As with our current Liberal government, they couldn’t give two s~~~s for anyone who didn’t vote for them. Basically if you didn’t vote Liberal you don’t exist.
“We have a majority government so f~~~-ya”…
