If you look into though, the tax break had nothing to do with closing a plant, it would have happened regardless as they just aren’t selling the bikes they used to, and they’re building over seas to sell over seas. One of their main reasons for doing that is to avoid tariffs.

Interesting that Trump pushes for tariffs and people freak the f~~~ out…but other countries seem to have no problem placing tariffs on our exports.

despite whatever happens to HD, I own one and would never sell it. I rode Japanese superbikes most of my life, but after transitioning to a Harley, I’m not going back. Harley’s have a soul and when you get on a big v-twin and a custom pipe, that sound and vibration is addicting.

I don’t get the hate, because my bike is a quality piece of machinery and the dealers I’ve dealt with are a step way above the japanese ones.

Harry Davidson is an overpriced vanity buy. South Park got it right about the people that buy and right them; they are in it for attention like a 16 year old girl.

Buy the Japaneses bikes if you want a cool bike. HD is like having sex with a American land-whale – overvalued,loud and obnoxious.

Harley Davidsons are way too expensive is why most people refuse to buy them. The cheapest Harley costs $6,899 and that is the most basic of their motorcycles.

Kawasaki on the other hand has their cheapest motorcycle at $3,199. Many people however get a Kawasaki Ninja 300 as their first bike and the cost for that is $5,299 still less money then the most basic Harley.

Aside from that discussion, let me say to all MGTOW riders here. It doesn’t matter what you’re riding as long as you’re smiling and feel great! I don’t care if it’s pink electric scooter or a Dodge Tomahawk or anything in between. Jap, Tai, Chinsey, English or American. Peugiot or Russian… its all good if you love riding.

Harley could turn it all around, we’ll see. I love my Dad, he rides a Harley and always has. Me, I ride Tai scooters cause they’re affordable and I can work on them inside-out. Do not buy a Chinese scooter, buy Taiwanese at the very least….

Could Harley ever have developed a Harley Scooter Twist-n-Go? I think they could have financially but that’s like asking, am I going to find a NAWALT today? There is no way in hell Harley would R&D, much less put out a scooter. I can dream though! LOL.

They blow millions of dollars on bulls~~~. They are like the US Government. A little snip here, cut that program there, BANG the money is there. But it will never happen.

Harley will continue to do what Harley does, sell loud CHROMED out crusiers to machismo guys and die hard fans… and that is fine, as long as those chaps are happy riding, I support that.

There’s no way in hell they could afford to actually produce it. Not here in the U.S. They could design it here, but would have to make it over there. And they couldn’t sell it under the HD badge. But then Harley Davidson has always been stupid about branding.

Of course there’s a reason why Harley Davidson sells the brand name and not the motorcycles. The brand name costs nothing to produce, whereas building motorcycles in the U.S. is hideously expensive. Harley Davidson motorcycles aren’t ridiculously expensive because they can be. They’re ridiculously expensive because they have to be. And the profit margin on each bike is almost non-existent. The motorcycles are almost a loss leader to keep the t-shirt and coffee mug business chugging along. Why? Because for every man you hire to build motorcycles in the U.S., you actually have to pay two more (at least) people on welfare who don’t work for you. Chinese motorcycle makers don’t have that problem.

Yup, the whole industry is spread thin but the margin on Harley has got to be complete s~~~. The dealership only stays in business off the brand and the only way it can employ people is margin on parts and $150 an hour labor rate…. Most dealers have been hanging on by the skin of their teeth for 10 years now. Actually, most dealers have already closed their doors. Only the strong survived the recession and they aint so strong anymore…

You’re right, it’s rough here. How are the dealerships down under? You’re in Australia if I’m not mistaken.
