Science confirms dogs smarter than cats

From a science fiction short story:

A man and his dog are space explorers. They find and survey new planets.

The land on a planet and find a building. They go in. There they see what appears to be a vast filing system, with a being composed of light, apparently working.

The being comes over.

The man then finds himself back on his ship, together with the dog. He has no memory of what happened. He writes the planet off as worthless and leaves orbit.

Back on the planet. the light-being goes to the filing system and takes out two records. It makes an entry on each.

‘HUMAN’. ‘Moderately successful’.
‘DOG’ ‘Very successful’.

And – like most women – they are not big and strong enough to cause serious damage to you when they attack. Like women, cats make a lot of noise.
