Keymaster’s problem is a problem that leaders sometimes get where they have to decide whether or not to sacrifice an unfortunate individual from their group who has done some minor but proscribed thing in order to preserve the group’s appearance of integrity or to keep that individual because he has not done any real wrong but risk sullying the group’s image by doing so.

This problem is very common right now thanks to liberal witch hunts of anyone who says anything taboo. While these witch hunts are entirely immoral, they are a significant problem and the liberals do currently hold the power of deciding what is taboo and of punishing those who say or protect others who say taboo things (sadly).

In this case this is only the digital world so, might it not be simplest for his identity to be sacrificed to pay for his sin and for him then to be reincarnated?

Depends on the organization. I work in banking, which is heavily regulated in Canada. I could very well see where he could have been misunderstood in his statement.
