Yes marriage and divorce has made this man broke. Most of the blame you can point directly at him for getting married but here’s what I don’t understand. He makes $112,000 a month but $66,000 gets squeezed out of him for child support alone. I don’t know a single child that needs 66k a month. Some families survive on less than that a year. He also had to pay alimony which equals over 212k a year. This is f~~~ing horse s~~~. This crap infuriates me so much. Child support in this country is nothing but a second alimony payment. Child support should simply be a generic number per kid, just like the poverty line is. You take that number and divide it by 2 and that is the amount paid…maybe adjust it a bit depending upon which parent provides health insurance or if one parent is working but simply too low of a wage earner to come up with half. The way it is now is just f~~~ed beyond all belief…you make xxxxx a year so you can afford to pay xxxxx in child support. What the f~~~…sure maybe its affordable in a lot of cases but when I was growing up my parent’s did spend everything they could afford on the kids…they bought us what we needed and anything extra was discussed between them.

As soon as the courts get involved the dad’s just have to pay because they can, and there isn’t even any guarantee the money is being spent on the kids. I know plenty of guys who pay rather large amounts of money for child support, and then the kids are always coming to them because they need money for new cleats for baseball or dance lessons because mommy can’t afford it. Meanwhile mommy is driving around in a lexus feeding the kids s~~~ about what a dead beat their dad is. I’d love to see more of these dads get custody, work less overtime, and collect child support from the c~~~ mother instead. I don’t see how that c~~~ could justify needing 66k a month for child support…if the first year worth of child support alone she got paid enough to buy a house for the kid to live in and pay for a college education…what the hell could she possibly spend the other several million dollars worth of “child support” on?

It’s funny because in the past before child support women would just leave their families. The man would be “stuck” with the kids and have to pay for them.

Suddenly when the State started giving money to women for it, they now demanded the kids and made a whole big deal with divorce, where previously they’d just disappear and at most leave a “Dear John” letter. That’s why those letters were called that.

Like everything else it touches, when the government made domestic affairs its business it screwed it all up. Same way it screwed up housing, education, healthcare, pensions and f~~~ing everything else. And still people insist on supporting the government, so what can you do?

Ah what an unfortunate man but at the end of the day it was his decision to get married in a state which gives long-term alimony payments to his spouse. Now I do not advocate marriage at all and neither should any man who calls himself a MGHOW, because ALL women drain a man’s time, energy and resources.

But at the very least, for the purple pillers and blue pillers who desire marriage, they can at least get married in some state like TX which does not do long-term alimony even for marriages lasting longer than 13 yrs. In the US, laws are not retroactive so they won’t get f~~~ed in the future with more alimony payments but hey enjoy the stress that you are going to have blue-pillers and purple-pillers. Marriage is a s~~~ deal for men and yet male celebrities still get married which makes me wonder do they believe they are invincible to this s~~~?

I have to confess, before reading this forum I didn’t even know alimony (spousal support, not child support) existed. Don’t laugh, I was never interested in getting married, so I don’t care about such things. Although it seems a bit strange I don’t remember anyone ever mentioning it outside this place.

Even after reading about it here I was in denial, thinking that maybe it’s just an American thing since they have some crazy laws (no offense meant). I’ve been reading about it and indeed it also exists in Europe and is actually ordered quite often, usually if the parent (mother) is unemployed, in addition to child support.

I’m mindblown. Why would the court even give custody to a parent who’s unemployed and has no incentive to find a job? It doesn’t make any sense.

Apparently if the father is below the poverty line and can no longer afford to pay, the government will pay it instead. Well I’m so glad my tax money is well spent on other people’s kids and stay-at-home parents.

Sorry for beating a dead horse here. But I’ve just discovered this.

To Bee’s point, the $112k is most likely before taxes. So he maybe makes $70-$75k after taxes. And then gives her $66k of that! He then lives on $4-$9k per month.

I agree with Beer’s statement. It shouldn’t matter how much a man makes, the cost of raising a child is the SAME for all parents. It’s a BS excuse to transfer wealth form one party to another and then justify it by saying that it’s in the best interests of the child.
The court’s logic is that because a man CAN afford to pay for something that he should. Until the government quits making it lucrative for women to have children that they cannot take care of or afford, women will continue to abuse the system.

Depending on where you live (with a girlfriend) if she lives with you for 12-24 months – POOF! She’s your “wife” as far as the “legal system” is concerned and you have to pay your EX-girlfriend alimony.
