I just read Old Bill’s thread on the 99%, and a thought occurred to me. Given how long this site has been around, the thought may have already come up and been discarded (I’m relatively new), but I thought I would mention it just in case.

How about new members having a 1 minute chat with KM or a senior member over Skype before being allowed to post? I wouldn’t expect anyone to share his phone number (I wouldn’t), but I’m pretty sure a Skype account is safe from doxing.

The advantage is fewer trolls. I enjoy punting c~~~s as much as anyone (except maybe Macho and Sage), but it does decrease the overall quality of the forums. Trolls don’t bother me, but they add a lot of clutter. This newest breed of troll with 20 accounts at a time gives a false impression that many members are actually supportive of their gynocentric comments, no doubt giving a peculiar vibe to lurkers.

The disadvantage is it may discourage people from joining the site, since it is a rather rigorous requirement. However, nothing would prevent them from reading and learning from the posts of others. The Skype call would only be required if they wanted to post.

Please share your thoughts. If the idea has already been broached or is repugnant to the community, I’ll be happy if KM just deletes this thread. Thank you.

Time issue. KM is not available 24/7 and maintaining the site is his side job.

As for trolls, if they wanted to post they have to sign up, so you get at least 5$ per troll. For me it’s good enough lol

Friends: My two cents-I joined this site maybe six months ago, give or take. I bounce in and out of the site every day or so to see if anything new and interesting has come up. Even with that casual level of involvement I’ve been able to figure out who’s real around here and who’s just jerking off or seeking attention for its own sake. And I’m sure that the more vigilant and astute among you are far better at sniffing at phonies than I am. Let ’em ride. They’re not tricking anybody. Just my opinion.

Great post Can’t Stump Trump!

As this site continues to grow and draw more attention and ire from time to time because of the Going Our Own Way which can disturb the gynocentric apple cart, it might need some tweaking, adjustments.

Anything that grows needs to adapt from time to time in order to survive and or thrive! I have full confidence in KM doing what is right when it comes to his creation / work. I think that it’s a great idea to create topics that will discuss the possible new requirements that such a site might bring about.

Or write a lengthy paragraph or so as to why they joined the forum, what led them to mgtow, etc., and have what people wrote down reviewed by members and if it’s legit we’ll let them pass if not then no approval. And to bring in more participation and activity to the forum we can strip some things away from new members until they have an x amount of posts or points.

In the part where you enter the forums you can see who is online . It would be good if you could hit there avatar there and see who they are especially the default avatar .

Not sure if that would work. We had some members here who were sleeper trolls, slipped through the cracks, and convinced us they were mgtow until the day came where they revealed their tuna selves.

Only other alternative is to have each new member write down an intro and I know I’m being a hypocrite since I never wrote one but then again at this point I’ve already proven myself.

Barriers to entry will just keep the true MGTOW away. A tuna will find a way in just to get to us. A brother will just go his own way, without the knowledge to succeed. Is that what we want?

I avoid social media like the plague, I consider it a poison to be avoided. If I had to pass an entrance exam to be a member here, I would think I was going into another data base in Langley. F~~~ that. Leave this place be.

We should treat trolls like ex wives, someone to avoid and ignore.

Yes, but you can’t follow members, receive messages, give stars, etc. (not to mention all the nice words are bleeped). Not that it really matters. The meat of the site is the content of the posts.

I did suggest seniors members could also fill that role, though I didn’t know that many members joined on a regular basis. As for the $5 per troll, you’ll have to explain that one for me in greater detail.

Let’s not forget that being a MAN is a requirement, and a very good one at that. The idea here was just to make sure that one requirement is honored. I can see you’re strongly against my suggestion, and you’ve been here longer than I have, so I trust you know what works.

Good. Thank you CantStumpTrump. A little back story for your interest . .

Forums opened 3 months after we did, on 07.2014. Originally, we had an “open” concept – for almost 2 years! Anyone who joined was immediately a “participant”, against all advice and recommendation.

We didn’t do “mandatory intros” because we didn’t want it. My personal story involves signing up at the previous MGTOW Forums, and I don’t know why, but I was unceremoniously banned – TWICE – without any word or reason by the admin(s). I was not alone, either and this was the experience of many.

So I thought . . . why “join”(?) when we can create our own!

And then it was decided, based on principal, no mandatory intros because it’s not right, and it can be wildly misinterpreted. We would never slam the door in a MGHOW’s face under any circumstances.

The journey here is long and often not a very pleasant one. The last thing we want to do is close the door in a man’s face, when he really just needs a chair and a drink of water. We MUST treat new arrivals like they have weathered enough storms and give them the benefit of the doubt.

After 2 years, the trolls and vandalism got wildly out of hand. Maybe you won’t remember. It really began with the BBC trolls in 08.2015, threats of shut down, vandalism attempts. etc.

The site even blacked out perdiodially and for nearly a year I had personally stayed up 18 / 24 / 36 hours restoring it several times, and manually re-inserting HUNDREDS of posts again while members waited patiently for more than a day.

MG-Tower, C-Pig, Ned Trent, Russky, ZuberiTau, Machiavelli, Ancient Wisdom will all remember this. It was brutal and unbearable. It was also shocking that they didn’t leave out of frustration….. but every time the site came back up, there were 50+ members all back and logged in, expressing their grattitude and appreciation.

We upgraded the site to a faster platform and server – twice now – and got a staff to watch it 24/7.

It was also time to implement a new member system with member tiers as it is now. The forums were just too busy to grant every member automatic participation anymore. So we locked everyone out of the site, changed everyone’s passwords, and FORCED all members to create a new and secure password so that no member would be compromised.

Again. Almost nobody complained and everyone was happy to oblige. We didn’t lose any members over this. Shocking. Thought we would lose everybody, but the site continued to grow MORE.

In 10.2016 built new member levels, not to have a “status” system, but to restrict new members who had negative intentions. They have to wait to be able to participate. And if they don’t want to wait, we even built in a mechanism so they could pay to approve themselves immediately.

Women are the cheapest creatures on Earth, so they don’t pay to troll, s~~~post or cause any s~~~. It was a successful way to keep the forums for men only and clean them up.

And suddenly, the females and trolls were reduced significantly. Until this point, I kissed a year of my life goodbye fixing the vandalism, moderating and kicking people out.

The point is . . . for a long time we had a fully open concept, and simply said “for men only”, but women didn’t respect our terms and boundaries. We really left it up to THEM. What kind of dicks do we have to be to keep the forums “for men only”? We refused to even use the wording “no women allowed”. What would it take for women to understand what that means?

We were “the better men”. They were not.
We weren’t going to be assholes, unless THEY were assholes first.

They proved MGTOW is not the problem. They showed a complete disregard for boundaries, barged in unwelcome and uninvited, like they had a “right” to be here. It was time they learned MEN have had enough of their s~~~.

The right guys are thrilled to join the site. The wrong people will be discouraged. But we didn’t make it for them. We made it for the right guys. They are always kind, respectful and gracious in their messages.

Funny, almost 100% of the time, I make a troll a participant, I already have a gut feeling they are a troll. Maybe it the avatar. Maybe it’s their little bio. Maybe it’s their email. They reveal themselves eventually, and I’m rarely surprised.

But we should rather err on the side of making a mistake than giving new members too may hoops to jump through. This also gives us the ability to slow down the rate of approval.

Giving them the benefit of the doubt makes us “the better men”. They just f~~~ it up for themselves and turn themselves into zero-integrity liars the moment they check that checkbox.
