Ladder bars (assuming you have leaf springs) will help with wheel-hopping (aka porpoising or dolphining). Manual transmissions allow for so much delinquency… I’ve laid a fair amount of rubber in the ’70 Trans Am my dad bought new; 400 ram air III, with an M20, with 3.73 posi. Next time I’m cruising near an abandoned campground in the northeast, I’ll keep my eyes out for a ’68 AMX… Is there a 1320 nearby?

My Super Nintendo is my longest relationship(24yrs) lol.

It was the first thing I ever bought with my own money. Brother still has the NES.

I noticed allot of MGTOW like their stuff squeaky clean! That alone wipes out the thought of any kind of happiness with a woman!

A MGTOW is a man who is not a woman's bitch!

Perhaps we’re all just OCD lol. I completely disassembled this thing 3yrs ago and went over it w/ a fine soft brush. And anytime I buy a game for it I disassemble the cartridge, clean it and polish the PCBs. Everything still plays flawlessly in this console. I now restore old SNES’ as a hobby.

Mine’s a 71, 1st year AMC dropped in a 401 (high compression) in any of their production cars, 390 was the biggest engine till then, in 72 they dropped the compression. That car was the fastest thing they ever built! No power steering and clutch fan to spare the loss in horse power! It was built for the 1/4 mile!

You’re right, I stand corrected; 390 through ’70, then the 401. I need to brush up on my AMC division specs.

I over cooked it one night in my girlfreinds Dads AMC.
    Just a Rambler after all.

I’ll just hold it wide open.

After almost loseing it at 140 mph I learned it had the 390 in it.

    Now they tell me!!!

Damn, that is an awesome story. The dude must know that car inside out blindfolded. And I am sure it is set up exactly how he likes it by now…

Indeed. Who needs a new car when your old one is 1000 times better.

Nice find SpiderHerder. That guy’s passion for his dream car has outlasted like at least 3 or 4 average marriages. This is the sort of “relationship” we should all strive to have. Great story.

Exactly. Too many times at the end of such articles you find the “thanks” section. You usually find a note like so:” Thanks to my patient wife for allowing me to do this”. That’s pathetic.

I’m not saying this guy has never been in a relationship, but I’m pretty sure his car came first and made it clear to others.

Ive been rideing my old Triumph for 40 years.
I know every bolt Ive stripped! Haha

Cool ! I’ve had my second car for almost 11 years… and I thought THAT was a long time hahaha.

Here’s a cool article about John Fendel, a car enthusiast who, in 1968, purchased a brand new Ford Mustang and started racing it in 1969. He still does to this day !

So he’s owned this car for 49 years and has been racing it for 48.

That’s the kind of love story that brings tears to my eyes.

    Enjoy !

What’s truly amazing is that Ford was able to use the solid rear axle design for 50 years.

In my younger days, I used to part-out wrecked ’60s and ’70s muscle cars. I also bought and sold extremely clean examples to use as daily drivers. I specialized in GM big-block cars. There were more than a few that I would still have today if I would have had the $$$ to keep them. Fun Times !

EDIT: I did manage to hold on to a ’91 ZR-1 Corvette and a 1941 HD FL knucklehead.

Lot of Mini’s in autocross. Light agile old euro cars do well in autocross. If I find a burned out E30 I could build into one, just might give it a shot one day.

    Definitely !

Autocrossing puts more emphasis on driving skills than actual horsepower… which might be why I’m not such a fan of drag racing.

To each his own, I know, but autocross is such a blast.
