If I was an NFL owner, I would pull the trigger. Jerry Jones should fire every son of a bitch who kneels tonight. He should warn them in advance like he already said yesterday.
The anthem and the field is not the right place for protest. Do it somewhere else. If you do it on the field and/or during the NATIONAL anthem, you will be in violation of your contract.
The Cowboys are already the most popular team. This would only increase their popularity around the country. Cowboys merchandise will be flying off the shelves. Jerry Jones will be a hero.

Anonymous6I like that idea, but let’s take it further. Put an “Anthem Clause” into every contract. Make standing for the national anthem mandatory. If they want to play football, they will sign it. Problem solved.
I would pull the trigger
Business and industries of all types already have “personal conduct” clauses in their employment contracts, as well as non-disclosure, confidentiality and non-compete articles.
Put an “Anthem Clause” into every contract.
Just another example of minutia that rolls down to the employment hill. How long before you have a no tobacco clause within a contract? The list is endless.
They make it very easy to fire you whenever they want too, but may it very difficult for you to stay as they will attempt to blackball you outside of your employment sector, while making it illegal to work for a competitor within the sector.
If you are not self-employed or retired, get ready for a 3 year employment cycle with increasingly limited benefits for the majority of workers.
The NFL and all professional sports need to clean house as there are thousands of athletes who are just waiting for their chance at some change.

+1Gambit, I bet that you have a t-shirt or shoe design that could be pushed at sports fans for purchase. Much cheaper than the current sneakers being offered for sure.
The armageddon that is approaching is a collapse of entertainment, advertising and product endorsement monies that are going to tank.

Anonymous6It has to tank in order for change to happen. Once that pocketbook starts to hurting, the owners will get off their asses and do what is right.
Jerry Jones is leading the way. I never thought I would be praising the Cowboys but damn, Go Cowboys.
Screw it, let the nfl burn.
Their arrogance irritates me.

I am always thinking about ways to profit. It is in the genes.

Anonymous6@gambit let’s go into business.
I’m sure we can make some better team apparel and merch and sell it at a better price than the NFL does. First the NFL, then…THE WORLD!!
And we can even sell to the liberals, different name of course. But they won’t know they the same people own both companies. That way we get all the money.
I get the sentiment. I also don’t think a sitting president needs to complain about the nfl on his twitter account. This weekend was more of a protest of him then anything else.
And I have no problem with fans boycotting the nfl for whatever reason they want. I just don’t want my President stirring the pot.
Ok. Then do it.
Problem is this is like a house where the spoiled kids (players) have the parents (team owners) scared and hiding under the furniture. They’ve had their way for so long that the parents (team owners) forgot their role and will only start to discipline the kids (players) once they realize that the spoiled kids behavior is destroying the house (NFL).

I would rather catch on to the next trend. I think the MLS might be a better place with the changing demographics, especially here in Texas.

But that’s the thing. He doesn’t lose anything by doing it. All the patriotic Americans who stand for the flag, and the Constitution, and are for the police are basically middle America. The people who voted for him. Then you have those who didn’t vote for him, but still hate seeing athletes take a knee during the national anthem. So all he has to do is mention it and it explodes.
What people don’t understand is, The more people kneel, the more they prove him right. So either they stop kneeling and all is fine, or they keep kneeling and the ratings tank and most importantly, the money tanks. Trump has put himself and people who think like him on the side of the Patriots and everybody who kneels will be seen as Anti-American. Again, a win-win for Trump.
Personally, I think the concussion isssue will bankrupt the NFL eventually but this will obviously help.

I think this is just another example of Trump saying “hey look! A $1000 bill sitting on the sidewalk!! I think I’ll pick it up!!”
Like illegal immigration, this is an issue that:
(a) majority of Americans are furious about and
(b) nobody is voicing their frustration.(1) Trump sees NFL players doing something 80% of Americans oppose
(2) Trump tells them “stop that”, knowing it’ll make them double down since they hate Trump
(3) NFL players double down
(4) Americans stop watching NFL
(5) NFL collapses
(6) Trump winsTrump isn’t the kind of guy that talks you off a ledge, he talks you out onto the ledge
🙂
Two Points: Yes what was said about the contracts is true BUT I am sure the legal offices for these teams pointed out that if they fire “employees” based upon an interpretation of the contract the player/employee can turn around and sue them for breach of contract arguing that their behavior was insufficiently egregious to constitute or warrant termination.
Even if the teams win such suits it will still cost millions to litigate; and most have probably been advised it would be less litigious to merely buy out the contracts—but then again you run into millions in expense.
This scenario is NOT going to play out unless the aberrant behavior ends up costing more to the owners than the two possibilities I outlined. We must recall this is a business and the only consideration for the owners is the “bottom” line. Thus they will do whatever costs them the least.

It’s really this simple. I’m still waiting on the collapse of CNN. It’s gotta be coming.

I was waiting for you to chime in. I agree with you, 100%.
As for the President and his tweets: Where is it written he is prohibited from expressing his opinion? I recall a certain “Obama” saying that everyone (white) has racism in their DNA…a truly outrageous and infantile comment—yet no protests about that…
