You can buy and carry, but you will have to go through some exams, like a psychological evaluation, how to handle the gun and physical aptitude (sight, health and so on), to carry the gun around. But, it is not impossible, just a bit harder than the US.

Knives are ok to carry, no permit, no nonsense. pepper spray, tasers and others are allowed too, no permits, just buy and carry.

Batons, and other blunt weapons are not regulated, so carry them at your own accord.

Whats about jurisprudence? How many people appear behind bars after defending themselves with weapons?

Not many. Well, if you can afford a gun down here, good lawyers are not far beyond your means… Guns here are expensive. Sometimes up to the point ofbeing almost impossible to afford.

But, not many people are in jail for self-defense, as long as you can prove it. Law here is tricky, lots of breeches and cracks that you can explore, and some lawyers here are specialist in those.

And, given the new president that we have now, those numbers will drop further, to the point where no one will be arrested if they hurt someone in self-defense. And the guns will be cheaper, as they have already dropped in price since the start of 2019.
