I’d start my job search first and only give notice when things start to perk. You most likely know the the rule of thumb about job searches taking one month for every $10,000 in salary? If you want a job commiserate with your experience and skills, your search is going to be a long one. Get that search up and running first, then give your notice in a month or so.

In the meantime, drown the bastard in cream. There’s an old dodge unions use called “work to rule”. Do everything that you’re told to do and only that what you’re told to do. Show no initiative, state no opinions, agree with everything good or bad, give no offense, and add nothing of real value to anything you touch. Become a drone and take pleasure in the fact that their business will suffer without you.

Do not date. Do not impregnate. Do not co-habitate. Above all, do not marry. Reclaim and never again surrender your personal sovereignty.
