I’ve had a few think I might be their next branch. I have no clue where they got that idea. I think they just assume that any man who they’re attracted to who treats them professionally and politely must secretly desire them.

Perhaps covering your branches with poison ivy? By they time they realize what they grabbed, it would be too late.

Interesting stuff. Eventually some who go beyond recall ” marry God ” They become totally freaked out with religious fervor. I have actually seen some who wear wedding rings & declare they are ” betrothed ” In my home town they actually had to tell a cadre of these ” prayer warriors” to tone it down.
Also,there is the Earth Mother syndrome, the Crazy Cat lady, the Bag lady who pushes around a shopping cart full of s~~~ & of course, the old alcoholic whore who sits at the bar & blows guys in men’s room. All manifestations of the same thing. A woman who went one branch to far & sawed herself off the limb.
Loved the department store thing. Brought a chuckle,b/c it is really the truth.

Another important concept is that women lack the ability to be content. They deserve “happily ever after”. Happy is a right-now thing while contentment is a longer term play. So when they aren’t happy in the moment, they start thinking about making a change.

Also, they buy into the “happy wife happy life” crap. It’s ASSUMED that it’s the man’s job to make the woman happy. So if she isn’t happy it’s your fault. So she will go look for another man that makes her happy right now, not understanding that he will eventually fail at making her happy at every moment too.

Happy wife, happy life is a warning to men. If she can’t be happy on her own, don’t marry her. Unfortunately it’s misinterpreted as putting a woman’s happiness in the hands of the man.
