Well I guess it’s still up for debate as to why the stick up your arse permanently resides.
I want non-posting accounts to be terminated. There’s no real reason to join and then not post. You can read everything posted here as a visitor, albeit with certain words censored and with a slower refresh rate.

Anonymous11Many of these non posting accounts are benign. For example, SoulMan popped in a few months ago after an extended absence. He’s a perfect example of a long time non-active account.
There’s a pattern to these star up attacks though that can be identified. We toss these trolls out PDQ once they break cover.
I don’t believe MP was involved in the Peter Pan incident. He reminds me of one of those guys pushing a multi-level marketing scam.
We’ve covered the problems here, but you seem to want to revisit as if this conversation hasn’t taken place.
We have done that in this very thread. A removal effort like that which was done for Stealthy isn’t needed. I’ve pointed out that spectator status does the same thing, saves any content, and can be done rather quickly.

I’ve written several times about a two-tier system, although not in this thread. There are members who have been here for months or years and have never posted. Why not start with them? Later on, we could examine a “Join and post by X” metric.

I’ve also pointed out that moving someone to spectator status is much less work and is done rather quickly. The effort made for Stealthy isn’t necessary because spectator status gets the job done too.

No one is staging a coup nor is anyone suggesting any changes need to be made in the management of this site.

Ok the problem is someone created a bunch of dormant account to like their own post and confusing people of their popularity.
The proposal to delete / make spectator dormant account that is inactive 3-12 months may get genuine members who are taking a break.
However the only problem is just to fake likes. Why just take away the ability to give like for dormant account until that account make 10 post in 3 months?
That way we don’t accidentally sweep genuine members away and remove the ability of trolls creating many fake account to fake likes.
If the trolls account make 10 gibberish post we will know.
If the trolls account make 10 similar post with all his clone account we will know.
If the troll account make 10 (post) X 1000 (account) unique and meaningful post I say let him. He truly make more contribution then distraction.I wonder if it is easy to make an automated system that remove the ability of likes if an account does not make 10 post in 3 months. I think the difficult part is the integration of such program with the website other features and not break them.

I have only just started reading and seeing this part of the discussion – about “pausing” dormant accounts. Would need to understand why this is proposed – so give me a chance to go back and read this part after dinner.
Off the top, I don’t see the point…. but I haven’t heard everyone’s sides.
Also off the top, I would say no. . . . because members like Untamed, AncientWisdom, Soulman etc. All took breaks and then got active again. Love seeing that.
ALSO you may remember “WILLY” ( who also lovingly called himself “escaped mental patient” ) just sent us a message 2 nights ago saying he’s back and he didn’t even remember what email he used to sign up. But I wouldn’t want him to come back after all that time and find he’s not active.

My angle is that the site has a huge number of member accounts which have never made a single post. Not members who left for various reasons and came back, not members who post every once in a while, but members who signed up months or years ago and have never posted once.
You don’t need to join to lurk. As a visitor, you can read everything posted here with just a few words censored and at a slower refresh rate so there’s no real reason to join and then lurk. I myself lurked for close to two years, decided the site was a good one, and then joined when I was ready to post.
If you’ve joined only to lurk, you’ve most likely joined for reasons which our inimical to both MGTOW and the members here. We recently saw our first “brigading” incident where Peter Pan received 500 “stars” in only a few minutes. Skeptisk linked to a video on page 5 of this thread in which TFM talks about feminists, tradcons, and others beginning to take down “enemy” sites which promote “hate speech” by means of doxxing, deplatforming, and appropriation. Others call this practice “convergence”.
The “convergence” process starts with enough “members” making large numbers of threads and posts antithetical to a site’s original purpose. Those purposeful troll threads and posts are then up-voted to cause confusion. Any calls to remove the troll threads and posts are argued against and also reported as trolling. The process culminates when this overt and covert trolling occurs so often that the moderators cannot keep up and the real members quit in disgust.
Imagine getting 100, 200, or more texts in an hour reporting troll threads and posts, some real and some deliberately false. Do you and the other administrators have the time to deal with that?
Going by your own estimates, you’ve got close to 20,000 non-posting member accounts here, Keymaster. Greg’s estimates put the number at closer to 23,000. How many of that number are trolls, sock puppets, throwaways, and other such accounts waiting for the word to begin acting? Peter Pan was able to create 500 up-votes in a very short period of time. What would happen if the Gynocentric Bulls~~~ Genie were alerted 500 times in the same time frame?

There are no good reasons to join and then never make a post. There are, however, several bad reasons to join and never make a post.
As I hopefully was able to finally explain to Joller, I’m not suggesting that these “silent” member account be removed as Stealthy was. I am suggesting that they be changed to spectator status, something which you’ve done fairly quickly and seemingly easily in the past. Spectator status will remove their ability to post and, seeing as they aren’t posting anyway, what has really changed?
Removing the silent accounts ability to post will lessen the chances of the kind of convergence attacks seen elsewhere in the “manosphere”.

On one of his videos in the comments section he posted that he’s fifty years old. Now he posted it like he’s an elder to be respected for his wisdom. But my takeaway is he’s fifty years old and participating in; perhaps even deliberately causing this bulls~~~.
Even before this drama I had noticed in his videos and interactions in his comments he was very rude and condescending. So I had already tuned him out.

Some points everyone should know which will alleviate such concerns.
On 10.10.2015 at the 11K member mark, EVERYONE’s password was reset to a random hash. No previously registered members could log in. We forced all members to create a “strong” password just to be able log in again. It also forced all members to re-verify their emails – and eliminated any bogus ones.
The first 11,000 members (who were “in early”) were given “ghost” status.
Since the 11K member mark, nobody was automatically made a “participant”. This prevented anyone from being able to join and just start s~~~-posting on their own. EVERY new member is now a “spectator” who goes into a queue – until and unless:
1. For those who don’t want to wait, they can upgrade themselves, pay, and make themselves a participant.
S~~~ posters almost never choose this option – a great way to stop assholes at the door. Genuine members are quite happy to pay. Even if they cancel later. They still remain a “participant”. It keeps the quality of participant as high as possible.2. They make a special written request to be made a participant, introduce themselves and their tone is sincere, polite and respectful. But even still, they will have to wait. We always explain this and damn near 100% of new members don’t even mind.
– OR –
3. We manually make them a participant at our leisure – and when the forums are “under control”. Like controlled immigration. If things get out of hand, no more new participants until drama calms down.

Since 10.10.2015 we get about 30-50 new members per day. Sometimes less and sometimes (like long weekends) it’s more. NONE of them are automatically participants, and the only way they CAN be, is by one of the 3 above methods.
In a typical day / week, we will ONLY consider those who upload an avatar and already verified and logged in. Priority goes to those with a little bio about themselves, a face picture, a good email (not a spammy one), and as “personal” a profile as possible.
Out of the members we eventually make participants after their initial waiting period, we may have made 2 or 3 bad calls per month. And that’s how these “trolls” get in. IMO this is a mistake worth making, because they smoke themselves out very quickly anyway – AND – 5% bad apples is nothing.
Impatient s~~~posters tend to f~~~ off and request deletion anyway.
So it’s really a self-cleansing system as much as possible.IN CONCLUSION: There is no hidden army of posters waiting to pounce. And if there are, they would have to be among the first 11,000 members. Over time, the worst of them have revealed themselves already.

Do not forget that TRP and MGTOW are constantly attacked and hated, and there are plans to bring down that kind of content, not a surprise in a gynocentric society.

Skeptisk shared that vid in this thread already and I mentioned it in my explanation to Keymaster.
Keymaster is certain that the October 2015 reboot “inoculated” site and Peter Pan got 500 up-votes in a matter of minutes in September 2017. Draw your own conclusions.
I guess we’ll just have to wait and see if what TFM is warning about occurs here. Of course, if and when it does happen it will be too late to take any action.

They may one day shut you down online, but MGTOW isn’t about the internet (thank God for that when you see people like this “MGTOW philospher” fool).
MGTOW is ultimately lived in the real world, an individual choice. Until the matrix can read minds there’s nothing to worry about. Just ignore women and go about your business, it’s that simple.

Theres an answer to that too.
If someone REALLY wanted to, they could create a duplicate account ( they would still have to wait or pay to be a participant) and machine gun hammer the +1 button just to upvote themselves.
Because a +1 takes a fraction of a second to write and record . . . . within that fraction of a second, if they are fast with the mouse, they can increment by more than one.
A person who feels a need to do that is very sad and pathetic to say the least.
So . . . to eliminate that possibility, we made an adjustment last night at 2AM and this is no longer possible. It’s not as fancy (animated) but it’s not possible to increment by more than +1. If one of these troll losers wants to repeat-upvote themselves, they would have to log in with another participant account – simultaneously – but the most they could upvote it would be +1.
So if you see a “PeterPan” doing the same thing (500 up votes in no time) THEN you can start to suspect a “group” of trolls are all in it together.
