Columbia’s ‘Mattress Girl’ Awarded NOW ‘Woman of Courage’ Award, Slams Camille Paglia

The National Organization for Women has awarded Emma Sulkowicz, a.k.a. “Mattress Girl,” with the Woman of Courage Award.

Sulkowicz rose to national prominence after carrying a mattress around Columbia University to protest the non-expulsion of her alleged rapist.

The man she accused was cleared of all charges and is now suing Columbia for allowing Sulkowicz to torment him and ruin his reputation with her “art project.”

The award is often given to women “for having demonstrated personal bravery in challenging entrenched power and in carrying out action that has the potential to benefit women in general.”

In an Instagram post, Sulkowicz took a shot at feminist intellectual Camille Paglia and dedicated the award to “everyone who has not told me to get over it. Thank you for validating my fear and my way of handling it.”

Thoughts? It takes a s~~~ load of courage to stand in the face of the truth and continue to lie day after day after day after day. It takes quite a bit of courage to risk the reputation of the rest of your life that doubling down on your lie won’t leave you as a complete laughing stock to the hive. It takes a fair amount of courage to carry that mattress around every day knowing that any guy that ever even remotely recognizes you will never touch you for the rest of your life.

Sure, I suppose a courage award is appropriate. Have you seen any woman in the last year do anything that took more courage than that? Yeah, me neither. Doesn’t make her smart. In fact, maybe I’m mistaking courage for stupidity……….
