I’m at a point in my life now, if I need anything done to my f~~~ing corvette or bmw, I just pay someone to take care of it. Why can i do this? Cuz i aint got no bitch in my life sucking my b~~~~ dry.

I beleive this was your initial point.

If I had all the alimony I paid, I could have the Hot Rod too.

Id call the shop and say..
Put a taller gear in it, and a little more timeing. Let me know when its ready.

But no..I lay under my car in the f~~~ing rain!

I think it’s hard wired for us to want to provide. To be the man who can.

We give everything so freely looking for a little gratitude and respect. But what starts out as a favour to be thanked, soon becomes an obligation to be demanded.

    We sell ourselves short.

Well said – men are really simple when you get down to it, some sex, some gratitude, some petting, some praise… how f~~~ing simple can it be – yet they cannot f~~~ing get it right???

c’mon now. There is nothing wrong with working on cars. I’ve worked on cars in negative temps, at night. One time I fell asleep under a jacked up car. Don’t regret a minute of it. Some men enjoy it. It can be challenging at times, but nothing builds character like running into adversity and solving insurmountable problems with makeshift tools.
Men who are afraid to get their hands dirty remind me of sadiddy bitches. Don’t take it as an insult though, not talking about you personally here

I thought I was the only one who has fallen asleep under a vehicle… it was a hot, summer day and I was in the shade working under my truck. I closed my eyes for a second and next thing I knew, I’d “lost” 20 minutes!

This thread brings up memories for me: memories of working on my ex-wife’s car. She’d whine and bitch if her car was down for a day (mind you, she didn’t work and didn’t really NEED a car) and complain that I wouldn’t let her borrow my “good” car (“you care more about that car than me” kind of BS). No, the reason she couldn’t borrow my good car was because of how she treated HER car. As an example, the gear selector in her car got stuck one time because she’d spilled so many sugary drinks into it! Never did get a “thank you” for maintaining her car — just hassle.

I changed my own spark plugs the other day. Big deal, right. Well, it was a v6 and I had to remove the air box, intake manifold, and etc. to get to the back 3. A fairly big deal for me. And yes, I replaced the intake manifold gaskets too.

I love working on my vehicles though not in the rain. It’s therapeutic. Though, I once helped a friend reverse engineer a wiring harness in the rain after he f~~~ed it up while yanking out his radiator. The assholes at Government Motors made many of the wiring pairs have the exact same color. It was a bitch, but we got it running.

I replaced the coil pack on my truck for $70 in parts and 20 minutes of work. My friend paid a shop $400 to do the same thing on his identical truck.

I’ve got to order my friend to get his bad starter 500SL Mercedes out of my work area. I have to get under the Mustang.

Alternator belt on a Honda shouldn’t take more than half hour.

I agree. I think on my Datsun 260Z I had to take the water pump off to replace the belt, but most cars you just loosen the bolts and slide the alternator and take off the belt. Even with taking off the Water pump it only took e an hour.

Doesn’t surprise me. Saw some mangina make a day project out of changing a flat tire.
