Vitacost had the bogo 50% off sale so i packed my cart with quinoa i got 20 bags coming, very excited i read a lot about this grain, also refined my legumes recipe, and my veggie cream so i am good for lunch at work.

I will be a lacto ovo because i still plan on eating eggs, but nothing major and also drink almond milk.

I love cooking and this is very new to me so exciting. I also purchase avocado oil gives a great taste in the veggy creme.

Going vegan is so fat free that i kind of need to add oil to reach my calorie intake but even then i don’t want to stress out about Marcos and s~~~ counting food.

Legumes beans are pretty high in calories….

I still have some red meat its sandwish meat taste like crap also notice yesterday at the grocery store that the price of meat is insane…… what a better time to go vegan.

I can’t wait to see how things go cutting out sugar urge i have a huge sweet tooth worst when i get bored also cheese, god damn pizza.

But for the rest lets see, drop 20 pounds and get cut up at my age amazing.

i still plan on eating eggs,

    Smart move.

Getting rid of sugar and simple starch, another smart move.

Speaking of starch: A mentor, whom I trust, will not eat wheat, barley, oats, or rye. This is because they are all loaded with gluten, which is not good for us in any form. (Bye, bye, commercial pizza and breads.)

He finds plenty of other plant based foods to make up for that small hole in his nutritional lineup. And he has figured out how to cook substitutes for pizza and bread.

Gluten and lactose, i have seen major weight loss in people who cut out both and sugar its like magic.

This is why i researched quinoa because its gluten free compared to all the grains you mention above.

I will probably need some help to adapt but after all is done i am sure i will feel a lot better.

Eating vegan is inexpensive compared to a western diet.

That is very true. Vegetarian eating is cost effective, if nothing else, and it is every bit as healthy as a “meat three times a day plus snacks” diet. Actually, it is far more healthy.

Full Disclosure: I am 90% vegetarian. If I end up in a restaurant or a meal with a group of friends, I go with the flow. There is usually something like a chef’s salad on the restaurant menu, and I order that. In a group meal, I eat what’s put before me.

I do not pitch a fit, like a know-it-all vegetarian hippie. A plate of meat won’t kill me. I believe we humans evolved eating mostly plant products with meat as a rare treat. The latter ran away or fought back, after all.

When i was 28 i was around 174-180 pounds really slim and felt great, i was pro wrestling and decided to use steroids, my body weight shot up to 220 pounds, lots of it was pure fat, after that cycle i never used steroids again for that period. I was never able to get back down to 174 pounds.

At 29 i injured my back and i went back to 212 pounds unable to find a solution for my back pain i was unable to be active for 11y, during that time i saw a sport doctor who put me on TRT testosterone therapy while i never needed it my weight shot up to 268 pounds i am 5 feet 11. I quit everything i was feeling awful, and got PRP treatments, i lost hair during that time so another doctor put me on finastiride and once more i gained weight, last year i was 258 pounds and i got sick and tired of looking like s~~~. I quit everything my hair looks better now go figure. With intermittent fasting i was able to shed some unwanted weight, i am around 225-230 now but still have my work cut out for me. I am older at 44 and feel its time to make healthy life choices.

Along with weight training almost everyday i have added 3 HIIT training per week ok not the 20 minute intense version but 10 minute version until my cardio gets better. I want to shed to 200 pounds and be thin again.

I never felt good on low carb anyways and my body needs glycogen for energy. I read a lot about vegan but i am like you if i go out i will eat meat…. i am not a meat eater to start with.

Last month i tried keto again bacon eggs cheese and i gained fat… so go figure. Calorie in calorie out.

So far my diet looks like this any recommendation would be appreciated by you good people:

I just bough a ninja 1000 blender i hate eating vegetables so i blend everything and its great:

Veggie cream: kale, bok choi, broccoli, cauliflower, spinach, salsa medium, (potato planet, small potatoes for taste sometimes). add a bit of avocado oil for taste.

Legumes: 5 mixed canned beans soak 24h in water, no soy, mix with salsa and sea salt.

Experiment with quinoa, i have spinach pasta too.

    Fruit smoothie with frozen fruits.

I will eat eggs but not everyday and no more then 2 at a time cooked in coconut oil.

Cut lactose (cheese too) and gluten….

any food choice recommendation will be great.

Although I backslide a little time to time I’m with you on the sugar/gluten thing. I’ll eat something with gluten about once a week BUT I disagree about the vegan thing, and oils. Oils of any kind (except fish) are terrible for you. I don’t use vegetable, peanut, or olive oils at all.
And nothing is better than meat and meat products. “We was raised in meat” HA HA little TCM humor. but really fresh meats are very healthy–I can hardly look at a cow without thinking “steak”. Now I am of course excluding the chemically processed meats and the fast food mystery meats. I’m talking about fresh stuff from the butcher shop! MMMMM MMMMM good!

I don’t disagree, of course process, transformed anything is bad, sugar, corn sugar, and meats like pepperoni, bacon, sausages amd so on.

I am not going to go nuts on this either if i go out i will eat meat, or party or anything. But i really want to try vegan for a while and see how i feel.

There is not a specific plan for all, some praise low carb, others praise vegan and others praise other diets.

It all comes down to knowing your body. I don’t do well on low carb i am always tired, lack of energy and so on i been told to up my sodium intake and give the body time to adapt to ketosis or body switch from glycogen to fat adaptation, i gave it 3 months and nadda. Plus all the weight i lost on low carb and don’t get me wrong its great to lose tones of weight, i gained back.

Why am i not losing weight well quit simple, hormone imbalance, food allergies, thyroid issues and eating too much.

If i drink a glass of milk, drink a whey protein shake, eat cottage cheese, or plain cheese i get bloated, my stomach burns, i feel bad and i experience drainage from the nose. The same thing happens with gluten.

Even then i used to eat foods containing both gluten and lactose. I want to eliminate that.

Vegan you can still cook tasty foods and not get bored. I am not pushing this diet to anyone, praising it yet, its also easier to make lunch and bring to my job, meat heated in a microwave taste awful.

I get it; didn’t mean to put you on the defensive. I’m no one to be critical. Years ago when I was diagnosed with diabetes it was because I was a big fat guy. 5’11 300lb. Right away I cut all sugars, no more soda, I cut out beer, breads, pasta etc. I started exercising walking a mile a day and 8 miles every weekend. You know how much weight I lost after a year? None. yes thats right none.

Now my Doctor couldn’t explain it. In fact one morning I was there for a visit and she went off on me. “YOU Aren’t DOING enough! to lose weight!” She then said: “what did you eat for breakfast this morning?” I said half a slice of spelt (real spelt too) three strawberries and half a banana. She says: Well evidently that is too much you need to cut back more! I said do you know what breakfast USED to be for me? Three fried eggs, four bacon stripes, piles of home fries, bowl of grits and English muffin with jam! ANd now I’m down to a little fruit and half a cracker and you want me to cut more?

Strangely if my food choices are poor–ie pizza etc. I don’t gain weight either—go figure?

It can be because of many things, like i said i lost no weight while i was on testosterone by that idiot sport doctor then when i went on propecia for a year (finastiride) i lost nothing either, this stuff blocs DHT so aromatization estrogen and T level rise then they told me well take an AI so i gook aromasin and arimidex with that and i felt awful.

I quit everything now and am 100% natural with some research i found out that 95% of men will never ever need testosterone therapy and its all another scam, search the internet and you will see that many website tell men as young as 35 to get on testosterone therapy. Anything your body does not need or gets more then it needs will react to it.

If i take extra vitamin D, magnesium or zink i get sleepy tired i just don’t need that, melatonin gets me drowsy all the 5htp and more.

I am good with a multi vitamin right now to make sure i don’t lack nothing and i feel great.

Its always good to get a competent doctor and get blood tested sometimes thyroid can be the cause or anything else.

A medication can have side effects and more.

Or you are eating to little and your metabolism is slowed down, this is where carbs are handing they produce thyroid hormone and more.

I trained for 2 years not losing a single pound when i was taking T and propecia, did the vince gironda 8 X 8 did some cardio my eating was good, that was very frustrating but after i stop all that junk i lost 20 pounds real fast. Found lots of people taking propecia gain huge amount of water and fat.

BTW i live in Canada my insurance covered the testosterone 9$ per bottle would last like 2 months, if i had no insurance cost would have been 120$ arimidex and aromasin i got online from some research lab, prescription gets you 10$ per pill and is not covered by insurance. I saw ads for the US testosterone therapy saying only 199$ per month so can you imagine because most people need and AI the cost of that s~~~ per month if you don’t even need it. Its close to 3000$ per year or more for all that crap……..

Propecia is used for hair regrowth cause by DHT, it lowers the DHT in the body and you get regrowth. I did not need that my hair as grown back naturally.

google metformin mix reviews some say no weight gain others say slight weight gain nothing major

Invokana is suppose to help with weight long along metformin?

the side effects on losartan look pretty bad, and yes weight gain is part of them, swollen feet, joint pain etc.

So there might be a correlation between weight loss and these 3 medication.

Actually the invokana is one of the drugs I take that ACTUALLY works. Probably why its so expensive. I also take gabapentin for the pain in extremities, but not as often as I’m supposed to. The side effects are really bad. So I take it only when the pain reaches a point I get really annoyed by it.

try to find a good sport doctor or nutritionist that can work with you, this is a bit too complex for me, i am sure there is a way to drop some weight, weight training can help a lot too i lift more weights now then do cardio.

I don’t go to the gym anymore due to the joint pain etc. But I did at one time and the funniest thing happened—I actually gained weight. Sheesh I can’t win!

Making the full switch to Vegan (excited)

I can’t do it. Without meat, its’ like my body temperature drops. I can feel full on eggs and other healthy food, but there is something about my body that NEEDS chicken, turkey, steak, red meat. Maybe its bulls~~~, but I get “chilly” (cold) easily when I don’t eat meat.

I don’t go to the gym anymore due to the joint pain etc.

I experience that in the knees , especially the action of going down stairs or hills. “PAIN” not really. “Discomfort” definitely. Same in my right shoulder and elbows.. and the ankles are brutal. But this is mostly if I don’t keep them oiled and continue using them. Takes a while but my joints are better now since I have been forcing it a bit.

Im also a little lighter right now (lost weight) and that makes a difference.

There is a trail I had a VERY hard time with at first, but within 60 days, I own it. No problems. Just doing it more made it so much easier. Knees are coping too. But I keep telling myself “Be kind to your knees. You’ll miss them when their gone”. When I see a person running down hill and their feet are SLAMMING into the pavement, I want to stop them from punishing themselves like that.

If you keep doing what you've always done... you're gonna keep getting what you always got.
