Was there any magic about the 60’s?
Maybe, was only 3 years old when they ended but I remember watching the moon landing as a 2.5 year old…
And I started to read and watch the news at age 4, somewhere around 1971, and so the 60’s are deep in my mind somehow. Because everything played in 1971 was 60’s music and all political debates were 1960’s topics… And the cold war was hot, as we are an East German refugee family and the fear of the Eastern block invading Western Europe was always in the air.
Today one thing is clear to me: The hardship of these times caused people to have less entitlement and more empathy towards others. War and terror ripped through the baby boomer “wealth generation” like a bolt of lightning and those that opted out were often attacked like we MGTOW are today. The hippies were brothers and so are we… This time we don’t fight wars with guns but there is a gender war which cuts way deeper into human existence.
And we are “the Hippies” of the present day and age.
We realize that we have to find love within ourselves and we look for freedom…
In Stealthy’s tradition:
The Hippies became Yuppies and MGTOW will become the Yuppies of tomorrow: Running civilization when all else fails. When feminism is over…
In July of 2018, this honey pot forum was sold out to an unidentified NPC sock puppet and troll organization. Most independent thinkers and writers migrated to other MGTOW forums as a result of the never-ending infighting and deliberate trouble starting caused by members who were given "carte blanche" by the admin to do whatever they want. Before my departure, I only left a few thousand cat pics here to comfort and ridicule the feminist owners who now run this place. Their background agenda is to make MGTOW look like a club of losers the public eye. And during the course of 2019, they actually managed to destroy almost all other MGTOW venues as well. Here is the truth about "theindependentman.org" aka "TIM" which was created as an extended workbench to further divide the community. Yes absolutely – the 60’s were really great in my mind.
The main reason is people were not politically shackled like today. Free speech was exactly that. Free Speech changed the way people viewed race religion war and peace. There was press freedom and honesty. People were willing to come together for ideals.
All the songs reflect this – I really miss those days. Glad that I could be there.
In a way we are the Hippies of today – as you say.The stakes are much higher.
Yo Gargamel nice ones thank you,
Eve of Destruction was something very special. It was so special that the Armed Forces Radio was forbidden to play it… But German radio did all through the 1970’s. And It was one of those songs that the late Casey Kasem featured over and over again on his “American Top 40” show and later spinoff shows…
As a radio show collector I know which songs get forgotten and which songs are “still allowed” on today’s P.C. radio…
That how you fill a whole apartment with record and CD’s…

That did not stop every decent radio station from playing it. No one could stop it – not like now. This is why we have to win. There is no option left for us.

Anonymous11I remember watching the moon landing
I do too. I was hardly two myself. I remember my parents and older siblings making a huge deal over it. I also remember my sister holding me while we looked out the windows at the gusts from Hurricane Camille a Cat 5 monster the hit the Gulf Coast. We were hundreds of miles from the center.
You were in East Germany, and I was in the Southeastern US. Back then here, one man blue collar working man could support an entire family with a job that he could only lose if he f~~~ed up royally. He could have a decent home, a nice boat, and two cars. Those days have long since passed thanks to our beloved oligarchs.
I miss that simple world. We now live under surveillance that your former Stasi would have never conceived possible.
People were willing to come together for ideals.
taht w as teh thing with 1990s Britain.
before all there was was football violence, recession, drunks, unemployment, the poll tax
I only caught the second half of it all really being 18 in 1995 all started in 1988 teh 1980s a decade full of issue and riots. Brixton, broadwater farm, mosside, st pauls (bristol)…
at raves people of all backgrounds got along.
You know what the authorities did 0satrted a media hate campaign spending millions of taxpayers money attacking ravers with helicopters and riot police.
thatcher even changed the law to make standing in a field with music illegal and imposde custodial sentences.

Well it was exactly THAT MINDSET that got me as a “default way of living” because I couldn’t “learn how to live” from my surroundings.
Right though and in spite of the bitching and nagging of hundreds of c~~~s around me, I held on to music and the ideals it transported.
That’s why I never got shackled. All society’s programming and women’s shaming bulls~~~ was absorbed by the Hippie inside. Of course, this did not make me socially acceptable but when you have grown up with whole village hives trying to spit on you, then you won’t give up your freedom just to please the people who hate you anyway…
I became indifferent to stupid society (aka the c~~~ hive) and totally faithful to my ideals.
So if you are standing on some street corner in Germany and someone squeaks around the curve with 2 wheels in the air… And this music blasting all over… It’s probably me.
But my taste ranges from 1963 to 1999… So I also torture people with Sugarhill Gang back to back with Van Halen.
And here: They are singing about me. It’s a band that hates to be known as a 60’s band because they had 3 career episodes… Anyway, it’s from 1978 and also fits in the 1960’s.
And they sang about me… So it felt, when I heard it back in 1978:
The KINKS
“Living In A Rock’N’Roll Fantasy” from the Album “Misfits”… (We MGTOW are also Misfits)
Hello you, hello me, hello people we used to be
Isn’t it strange, we never changed
We’ve been through it all yet we’re still the same
And I know it’s a miracle we still go, and for all we know
We might still have a way to goHello me, hello you, you say you want out
Want to start anew, throw in your hand
Break up the band, start a new life, be a new man
But for all we know, we might still have a way to go
Before you go, there’s something you ought to knowThere’s a guy in my block, he lives for rock
He plays records day and night
And when he feels down he puts some rock ‘n’ roll on
And it makes him feel alright
And when he feels the world is closing in
He turns his stereo way up highHe just spends his life living in a rock ‘n’ roll fantasy
He just spends his life living on the edge of reality
WERBUNG
He just spends his life in a rock ‘n’ roll fantasy
He just spends his life living in a rock ‘n’ roll fantasy
He just spends his life living on the edge of reality
He just spends his life in a rock ‘n’ roll fantasy
He just spends his life living in a rock ‘n’ roll fantasyLook at me, look at you
You say we’ve got nothing left to prove
The King is dead, rock is done
You might be through but I’ve just begun
I don’t know, I feel free and I won’t let go
Before you go, there’s something you ought to knowDan is a fan and he lives for our music
It’s the only thing that gets him by
He’s watched us grow and he’s seen all our shows
He’s seen us low and he’s seen us high
Oh, but you and me keep thinking
That the world’s just passing us byDon’t want to spend my life living in a rock ‘n’ roll fantasy
Don’t want to spend my life living on the edge of reality
Don’t want to waste my life hiding away anymore

Anonymous1It was before my time, but I can certainly see the magic in the 60’s. I know from my grandparents that standard of living was far higher back then. My relatives could drop out of high school, get a job the next day making almost $20 an hour. By the time they were 21 they already had a house, car, cabin, boat etc. Very different standard of living than today. At 21 I was up to my eyeb~~~~ in debt struggling to make payments on rent. Anyways, Gargamel you listed some great bands, but missed one of my favorites Kraftwerk.
Oh, red pills from the 1960’s
How about a song about a man that was left by his women and his life destroyed because he forgot to walk on eggshells around her for just once…
The Beatles: “Yesterday”

Anonymous42I remember lots of chrome, big cars with fins, and finding silver money in my change, but that stopped by the first economic slam in the 70s’ when Detroit really started to decay. Every car was American made and the foreign cars were death traps with thin cheap vinyl interiors, mostly designs from before WWII, like the VW, MG, FIAT, and all the rest that were still rebuilding from the aftermath of WWII. I noticed even the bomb craters on Normandy have all but vanished since my first sattellite view, but not places like Attu in the Aleutians, it still looks like the moon.
I’ve watched the Northern U.S. industrial base and many mfg contractors and subcontractors vanish with the men that knew those skills, now video game skills are more popular than industrial arts or vocational school.
I see a nation becoming weak a feeble as the decades roll by one after the other since the time that cars had fins and everything sparkled with chrome and stainless steel. I haven’t seen a car with polished stainless steel trim made since the 60’s, by the 80s’ the chrome was anodized aluminum, by the 90’s chrome just vanished off the cars entirely. Now they look like a blob of plastic…

MY NATION’S RICHES HAVE BEEN SQUANDERED AS POVERTY IS BECOMING PERVASIVE!
NFG…
but missed one of my favorites Kraftwerk.
Kraftwerk began becoming popular in 1974, even hitting the American Top 40 with their classic “Autobahn”. But it is from the 1970’s and I can fill a whole forum section or radio channel with 1970’s red pill and “personal freedom” music.

Anonymous42The Beatles: “Yesterday”
That’s the Beatles worst song in my opinion, not that it sounds bad but rather the lyrics and mood have no doubt challenged many a men to blow their f~~~ing head off!
I’d rather listen to their more psychedelic music like LSD (Lucy in the sky with diamonds), or the more upbeat stuff like Penny lane…

Anonymous1in the 70s’ when Detroit really started to decay.
My grandpa was born and raised in Detroit. He moved out to suburbs in the 1960’s after the race riots. All of my life Detroit steel turns to rust. The roads are broken up. Overpasses fall down. The water is not good to drink, the air is not good to breath. What happened to the World of Tomorrow? Big promises were made in the 1950’s. You can see the fantasy at the Henry Ford Museum. What our world was supposed to be like… Almost all of the factories closed down. Entire neighborhoods are abandoned now. Its like a ghost town. The street lights are turned off because they can’t pay the bills. The city is very dark at night and some of the best buildings like the Booke Tower are abandoned. Its like that ruined city in Lord of the Rings Minas Morgul.

Taxman, Doctor Robert…
Sgt. Pepper Album: A day in a life, Lucy in the sky with diamonds, With a little help from my friends and so on.
Too long to mention all…
… ending with “Her Majesty” from “Abbey Road” which was their last actual studio recording.
But I guess every one knew at that time that the live version of Get Back from Let It Be was their last public appearance ever.
And their last issued album “Let It Be” is one of the best. “Repaired” very well by Phil Spector (p~~~ing off Paul McCartney) and it took until 2002 for the original “Naked” to get released…
But all 4 of them had long careers ahead of them. Of course we all know what happened on Dec. 8th, 1980…

And I know exactly what you mean. And there is also one song describing the British 1980’s “depression” that we saw on the news back then. Garbage strike, steel worker strike and mines closing down…
And the big cities all in filth – environmental problems everywhere and this gave rise to the punk scene……from this era in which this band jumped into the pop arena.
“The Police” and the song “Invisible Sun” from 1981.
An “anthem” about the (not only British) industrial depression in the early 1980’s.
And the video reflects that.

Yes and that went on through the 1980’s.
And Tower, I guess you might remember something like “Beat the Civic” in which auto workers from Detroit were invited to use the sledgehammer to fold a Honda Civic as a pubic protest action. That was in 1979/1980 or so… I saw that in a German political magazine back then.
The downfall of the industries in America and Europe began when Japanese manufacturers threw their cheap slave labor on our markets. Now these factories moved to China. With one big exception: EVERYTHING moved to China.
But that would fill a whole separate forum discussion section…
Because I am the guy with “the WHY?” on his list… WHY did the German auto manufacturers get all of these immigrants? Back then, in the 60’s they were called “guest workers”?
WHY, because no German man is taken seriously if he works in a factory… And in order to get laid – in times of the ever so needy and demanding housewife, men had to strive for ever higher jobs in order to get laid…
In some fields we now have more engineers than construction workers. And more electrical engineers than electricians…
That is also one point of the distorted developments in our Western culture. In order to get laid, a man has to become a doctor (because of status and income)… Till we have more doctors than patients.

I prefer the older pinball games of 60’s over today’s machines anyday.
