You mentioned Epicurus. I prefer Diogenes. I could live in a fast off cask and bark at passers by. I need less than a little to be happy. It all fits on a bike.

I won’t need walls, I’ll move every day.

I failed to realize in my youth that I was the prize. I was going to work. I was going to earn. Little did I realize that due to feminism, that no longer meant I had to share. Road soon, Desert after.

I get a lot of enjoyment, and occasional enlightenment, out of listening to Alan Watts’ lectures on zen and Eastern philosophy. He talks about detaching from society’s programming, why self-discipline is important, how to be content, etc. I’m sure that some true practitioners of Eastern philosophy would say that Watts was giving sort of a fast-food version of their teachings, but I like his explanations nonetheless.
