free room and board in exchange for sex…? This sounds A LOT like marriage to me. At least, this is pretty much what my marriage was. In fact, I think this was kind of the motivation for both parties for marriage for eons until just recently.
The only difference between the arrangement described in this article and marriage, is that in a marriage a woman has the power have a man thrown out of the house he paid for and continue to live there without him. In this arrangement, the man retains ownership of the house he paid for and has the power to have the woman evicted from it. What they don’t like about this arrangement is the power in it is not their’s. If there’s some other difference, and I’ve missed it, someone please point it out to me.
And as for this being rape or abuse? It looks very much like those marginally talented former movie stars who got roles in movies by trading sex to producers and casting directors. Consent that is conditional on getting a role in a movie may be conditional consent, but it is still consent. (I think C. Hoff-Summers may have written that). I don’t see it being any different if the condition is rent vs dinner and drinks, or a movie role or anything else that women want that they have been known to trade for sex.
Strippers are often women with little other in the way of marketable skills who strip for money to pay their rent. Women like this author seem to have less trouble with that business possibly because strippers hold the power over those poor dumb bastards who pay them. They end of with the man’s money, and don’t really offer anything in return for it. That seems to be the woman’s holy grail of achievement as far as I can tell.
As for the men in this rent arrangement, those guys don’t owe a damn thing to these women. In fact, if these women were sleeping under a bridge, they still wouldn’t owe them anything. There is nothing that requires these men to offer women a roof even in exchange for cash rent, assuming they could even pay it. I have space in my home where an otherwise homeless woman could live, but I don’t owe that to any women wether she is willing to trade sex for it or not. Although this woman wrote an article about how terrible this supposedly is, I suspect that if she succeeds in getting it outlawed, and men agree to follow that law, there are going to be some newly homeless women out there soon.
The description of these men in the article makes them seem pretty well red pilled. But even as they remain single and succeed in securing homes for themselves large enough for both themselves and another person, they are still trying to throw women a crumb of something, and asking for some kind of reciprocity. And what they are asking for is the only thing these women have to offer that’s still worth anything to men anymore. For this, it is the men who are vilified. Never the cupcakes willingly participating.
There’s no way to win for a man here. I’d withdraw and leave them homeless, and blaming someone else for it.
