The only thing that could make this better is if it was happening in the U.S. instead.

It’s just a matter of trade-offs. For middle or upper class men living in Japan (or similar), having a child represents a tremendous sacrifice. Abstaining is the most rational choice.

Attempts at roping men into this sacrifice by playing upon their emotions are clearly failing.

If the government wants more babies, the only option is to reduce the level of sacrifice required. Realistically, the only way to do that would be through some form of government funding for the costs of raising kids (including daycare, since people still have to work). This, of course, means that men who have chosen not to raise kids will be funding everyone else’s kids, which isn’t just. But, it’s either that or watch everything fall apart.

In my opinion, this isn’t a one-off kind of problem. If the reset button was pushed and the whole world went back to the dark ages…eventually, we would wind up right back where we are now, feminism and all. We can’t solve problems like these by convincing people (men or women) to behave as we think they ought. That isn’t how freedom works. We either figure out how to keep the ball rolling in an environment where the genders do not enter into lifelong commitments to each other, or we die trying.

It is wise to fear dangerous commitments.

Societies have a really bad reputation for ignoring a problem when the solution goes against the grain of their ideology. They would rather wait until it reaches the point of no return than admit that the current problem has to do with the way that their society is run. In this case, it is gynocentrism.

If a society would rather remain in willful ignorance than address the issue that is causing its downfall, then f~~~ ’em! That society deserves to collapse. Why the f~~~ would any sane man try to save a society that treats them as nothing but disposables whose only purpose is to sacrifice their safety, well-being, and finances for the protection and benefit of women and a gynocentric government?

The Japanese are smart, do they feel? Just as much as any other man. But they understand that there’s a time and place to emote and following said emotions often has terrible consequences.
